  • Patent number: 7864987
Abstract: An access system in one embodiment that first determines that someone has correct credentials by using a non-biometric authentication method such as typing in a password, presenting a Smart card containing a cryptographic secret, or having a valid digital signature. Once the credentials are authenticated, then the user must take at least two biometric tests, which can be chosen randomly. In one approach, the biometric tests need only check a template generated from the user who desires access with the stored templates matching the holder of the credentials authenticated by the non-biometric test. Access desirably will be allowed when both biometric tests are passed.

  • Patent number: 5711231
Abstract: A secure servicing system for an automatic teller machine (ATM) or similar machine. An ATM is mounted on a rotatable/translatable baseplate in a kiosk with the operating side flush with an opening in the kiosk. By rotating and translating the baseplate, the ATM operating side is moved to a secure space inside the kiosk, providing access through a kiosk door for service. A blank side at least partially fills the opening. The baseplate is mounted on rollers and rotated by a driven bar connected between the baseplate and kiosk floor. An idler bar similarly connected guides translation of the baseplate during rotation. A sliding door, actuated by the baseplate translation idler bar, fills any space between one of the sides and the edge of the kiosk opening, where the side is narrower than the opening. A locking mechanism is provided to releasably lock the baseplate in either position. The kiosk is thus secure during service, adding of cash, when out of service, etc.

  • Patent number: 5222445
Abstract: A maintenance enclosure for an automatic teller machine having an operable front panel and an openable service panel is provided. The enclosure consists of a stationary enclosure about three sides of the automatic teller machine so that the operable front panel can extend through one portion of the stationary enclosure, while the openable service panel can extend into the stationary enclosure. An expandable enclosure is affixed to the open portion of the stationary enclosure to close off the automatic teller machine so that when the automatic teller machine is in use the expandable enclosure is normally folded inwardly towards the stationary enclosure to fit the smallest possible area. A door which opens inwardly is hinged in the expandable enclosure so that when the automatic teller machine is to be repaired the expandable enclosure and the door opened to gain access to the openable service panel.
