  • Patent number: 9822876
Abstract: A housing of an axial piston device is provided with a drain port for discharging the retained oil to the outside and a supply oil passage for guiding lubricating oil, which has been supplied from an oil source, toward a first hydraulic axial piston member. The drain port is arranged so as to bring about such a retained-oil level that a second hydraulic axial piston member, which is disposed below the first hydraulic axial piston member, is partially or entirely immersed in the retained oil while the first hydraulic axial piston member is not immersed in the retained oil.

Abstract: A compressed fluid motor has a plurality of cylinders with a piston and a piston rod. A main bearing is concentric with a crankpin and coupled to a shaft. Compressed fluid on the piston pushes on the main bearing via its corresponding piston rod. Bearing guide plates hold the one or more piston rod in place on the main bearing. A timing and control mechanism controls flow of compressible fluid to press on the piston and turn the shaft to perform work.

  • Publication number: 20120141303
Abstract: The present invention provides a fluid system (99) comprising a source of hydraulic fluid under pressure supplying a hydraulic fluid consumer (103) together with a valve passing fluid between said source and said fluid consumer (102). A first fluid compliance (105) is situated between said source (100) and said valve (102) and a variable restrictor (110) is provided for varying the cross sectional area available for flow of fluid through said valve (102) and is movable between a first position (A) with a larger said area and a second position (B) with a smaller said area. A bias means (117) biases said restrictor (110) towards said second position whilst an opening means (Fa) urges said restrictor (110) against said bias (117) when fluid flows through said valve (102) and a damping means (126) damps movement of said restrictor between said first and second positions and provides a resistance which increases with the velocity of displacement of said restrictor (110).

  • Patent number: 6651545
Abstract: It is desirable to deliver only the fluid that is used to do useful work and not waste energy. In the subject arrangement, selected ones of a plurality of pistons are held at their top dead center positions when delivery therefrom is not needed. This is accomplished by having a valving arrangement disposed between the associated pressure chambers and first and second inlet/outlet ports. The valving arrangement is movable from a neutral, flow blocking position to an operative flow passing position. At the flow blocking position, fluid flow into and out of the associated pressure chamber is blocked, thus the associated piston is maintained at the top dead center position. By holding selected ones of the pistons at the top dead center position, the effective volume of fluid being used is reduced and energy is saved due to the fact that the selected pistons are not moving any fluid.

  • Patent number: 6619184
Abstract: In order to reduce the shock that occurs in downshifting and up-shifting a hydraulic radial piston engine, a valve (1), which controls the displacement of the radial piston engine, is reversed with throttling. In order to prevent the throttled reversal from being affected by the level of pressure in the hydraulic fluid intake (3) to the hydraulic radial piston engine, a sealing point is provided in the valve (1), which controls the hydraulic fluid intake (3) to the torque-generating pistons. To prevent critical safety situations from arising, a valve (24) is positioned in front of the valve (1) that controls the displacement of the hydraulic radial piston engine; this valve (24) always switches the valve (1) that controls the displacement of the hydraulic radial piston engine, without pressure, when the hydraulic fluid intake (3) from a hydraulic fluid source to the hydraulic radial piston engine falls below a certain pressure level.

  • Patent number: 5205123
Abstract: An infinitely variable differential hydrostatic transmission utilizing a fixed displacement pump/motor and a variable displacement pump/motor interconnected with appropriate valving, to provide a mechanical/hydraulic differential drive which is capable of achieving an overall efficiency in the 98.degree.-99.degree. range. In the preferred embodiment, which utilizes axial piston type pump motors, pistons in multiples of four are utilized in order that each piston will have a piston located 90.degree. from it to serve as its control valve. The fixed and variable displacement motor/pump are provided as an integral unit containing bearing mountings, cylinder barrels, valve ports, piston seal mountings, hydraulic flow passages, pressure reservoirs and manifolding by forming a series of individual segments and sealing them together into a single structural unit. A unique mounting arrangement is utilized to positively attach the pistons to an anti-friction swashplate which eliminates all side loads on the piston.

  • Patent number: 4976189
Abstract: A motion translating device that includes two or more units mounted on a shaft supported for rotation on a frame. The units are equi-spaced circumferentially about the shaft for balance of the rotating system and each includes arms secured to and radiating outwardly from the shaft, a crank arm journaled on such arms and a fluid actuated piston cylinder unit anchored at one end to the shaft for limited oscillatory movement thereon and at the other end connected to the crank portion of the crank arm. Rotation of the crank arm is resisted preferably selectively by an adjustably variable force.
