  • Patent number: 8468932
Abstract: A brake booster includes a housing configured for mounting to the master cylinder of a braking system. The housing defines a bore for receiving a power piston and an end cap, with a return spring disposed between the head of the piston and end cap. The housing and end cap define a recess and a rib sized to be received within the rib but configured for an interference fit between the end cap and housing outside the recess. The interference fit is calibrated to require a force to push the end cap into the bore that exceeds the force generated by the return spring when it is compressed between the end cap and the piston head. The recess and rib at least temporarily retains the spring within the bore until the brake booster is mounted to the master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 8356549
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of mounting a cylinder arrangement of a hermetically enclosed refrigerant compressor arrangement in a carrier arrangement (14, 15), in which the cylinder arrangement is inserted in the carrier arrangement (14, 15), aligned in relation to a crank shaft (5) and connected to the carrier arrangement (14, 15). It is endeavored to ensure a good efficiency of the refrigerant compressor arrangement. For this purpose the carrier arrangement is deformed, before inserting the cylinder arrangement, by means of a calibration cylinder (40), until the calibration cylinder (40) has a predetermined alignment, after which the calibration cylinder (40) is removed and replaced by the cylinder arrangement in the carrier arrangement (14, 15).

  • Patent number: 8297940
Abstract: A downhole pumping assembly has a tubing string with plural barrels which are arranged in-line with the tubing. The tubing string has a seating location adjacent to each barrel. A standing valve arrangement, which includes a standing valve and a seating device, is located with the standing valve adjacent to the lower end of one of the barrels. A plunger has a traveling valve that is located for reciprocation within the one barrel. The plunger has a clearance with each of the barrels so as to form a fluid seal. The plunger reciprocates inside the barrel so as to lift fluid to the surface. Over time, the barrel will exhibit wear. Instead of pulling the entire tubing string to replace the barrel, the standing valve and the plunger are relocated to one of the other barrels located in the tubing string and reciprocation is resumed to resume pumping.

  • Patent number: 8186263
Abstract: Apparatus and method for securing a cylinder liner to a pumping module. A first part of an assembly housing pistons is fastened to a pumping module and a second part of the assembly is brought against the first so that the pistons act on tensioning plates which each have a stud rod extending therefrom through the assembly at an end distal to the pumping module. Each rod has a first portion substantially surrounded in an elastomeric member and a second portion threaded to receive a nut. The rods are passed through a clamping ring on the cylinder liner and the nut is attached to the rod. Actuating the pistons causes initial compression of the elastomeric member by the tension plate and allows tightening of the nut toward the pumping module. Release of the pistons then causes expansion of the elastomeric member to urge the cylinder liner towards the pumping module.
