Abstract: A hydraulic actuator includes a hollow tube that has a first opening at a first end of the hollow tube and that has a second opening at a second end of the hollow tube. The hollow tube contains hydraulic fluid. A moveable magnet moves within hollow tube as a result of a magnetic field within the hollow tube. A magnetic field source located outside the hollow tube creates the magnetic field within the hollow tube. When the moveable magnet moves to the first end of the hollow tube, a first piston pushes hydraulic fluid out of the first opening. When the moveable magnet moves to the second end of the hollow tube a second piston pushes hydraulic fluid out of the second opening.

  • Publication number: 20130186266
Abstract: An air pump has a body, a piston rod and a handle. The piston rod is movably inserted into the body and has a rod body, a convex ring and a first engaging part. The convex ring is laterally protruded from the rod body and has a retaining surface. The first engaging part is longitudinally mounted on the convex ring. The handle is mounted on the rod body and has a fixation trough, a retaining ring and a second engaging part. The retaining ring abuts against the retaining surface of the convex ring for preventing a relative rotation between the handle and the piston rod. The second engaging part is longitudinally mounted on the inner surface of the fixation trough and is engaged with the first engaging part of the piston rod. Therefore, the air pump increases the stability between the piston rod and the handle.

Abstract: The invention describes a method for operating a controllable electromechanical brake booster and the corresponding brake booster which, via a coupling element between the brake booster and pedal rod, is capable of applying a force in opposition to the pedal activation force of a driver, and can therefore be operated as a pedal simulator. For this purpose, a pedal opposing force can be set by a characteristic curve as a function of a pedal position which is predefined by the driver, and can give the driver a pedal sensation even if there is no reaction of, for example, a conventional brake system. In a further operating mode, the brake booster can be operated in its original form.
