    Abstract: A system for separating carbon dioxide gas from internal combustion engine exhaust and an electricity generating heat exchanger for the system. The system includes a scrubber tank containing a carbon dioxide absorbent fluid and configured to bubble exhaust gas from the heat exchanger through the carbon dioxide absorbent fluid, whereby carbon dioxide gas is absorbed by the carbon dioxide absorbent fluid. A carbon dioxide storage means stores the carbon dioxide released in a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger cools the exhaust gas emitted by the internal combustion engine, and includes a thermal electric generator (TEG) configured to couple thermally the exhaust gas chamber to the absorber fluid chamber in a manner effective to heat the CO2 absorbent fluid by heat from the engine exhaust to release CO2 gas from the CO2 absorbent fluid and generate electricity in response to a temperature difference therebetween.

    Abstract: A fluidized spray vessel. A vessel design is provided for recovering heat from gaseous heat streams. The vessel utilizes a semi-fluidized bed for obtaining desirable liquid/vapor contact times. A spray section is provided in which liquid is sprayed through nozzles designed to provide a mean droplet size having a terminal velocity of from about sixty percent to about ninety five percent of the superficial upward gas velocity. These spray tower design criteria enhance spray tower performance, and thus enables more efficient heat recovery to be practiced, particularly in systems where relatively low grade heat sources are encountered.

    Abstract: There is provided apparatus for treating water containing industrial waste products. A first tank contains water at a determined pressure. A second tank is placed inside the first tank and communicated with a lower portion thereof. It contains water at a lower pressure than that of the first tank. An inlet device of the discharge product is located in the second tank. A first dilution sector of the waste product is external to the tanks but in communication with the second tank at one end and connected to the other end with a Venturi tube and has an outlet duct for waste product diluted by said second tank. The Venturi tube is in communication with the first tank and creates a depression of the second tank with respect to the first tank. The second tank has an internal portion for the dilution of the industrial waste product.

    Abstract: A process deals with gaseous by-products and tarry materials during formation of sol-gel bodies. Gaseous products from a dehydroxylation reactor pass into a gas-fluid contactor. During the early stages of heat treatment, an aqueous acid solution is recirculated through the contactor to trap basic and/or water soluble organic gaseous materials. The resultant solution and non-condensing gases pass into a reservoir. Volatile, undissolved organics exit from the reservoir with non-condensing reactor gases and are treated. Once the organics have burned out of the sol-gel body, recirculation of the aqueous acid solution is ceased, and the gas-fluid contactor is flushed. The water flow is then ceased and dry nitrogen is provided to the contactor. During the next stage of the sol-gel heat treatment, gaseous products from the dehydroxylation reactor pass through the contactor into the caustic scrubber. Once the heat treatment is complete, the contactor is flushed.

    Abstract: The upper cylinder with several holes perforated in the base is inserted and bolted to the lower cylinder with several holes perforated in the upper part of the wall of the larger cylinder. A circular damper plate is placed on top of the upper cylinder to prevent splashing of the water. A holding plate accommodating the two cylinders is placed into the heating and air conditioning system, in the spot where the conventional mesh filters are usually placed. Then water and paraffin is poured into the cylinders. The incoming air flows through the water and paraffin bath and traps all dust, dust mites, pollutants, bacteria and particulate matter. A water reservoir maintains the correct water level in the cylinders, by connecting an air pipe as a sensor and a water pipe as a water supply.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a gas-liquid contact apparatus which can make the equipment more compact and reduce the cost while achieving high gas-liquid contact efficiency. In the apparatus of the present invention, an oxidation tank (2) is installed in proximity to an absorption tower (1), and an absorbing fluid (3) is stored in this oxidation tank (2). The level H of the absorbing fluid (3) is determined so as to be above the position of nozzles (7), whereby the absorbing fluid is spouted upward from the nozzles (7). Flue gas is introduced into the absorption tower (1) from a flue gas inlet section (8) and made to flow upward at a high velocity, so that the peaks of the spouted streams are raised above level H. The absorbing fluid (3) is caught by catcher device (11) installed at a position above level H, and returned to the oxidation tank (2) through a circulation pipe (12). An air pipe (20) is connected to the circulation pipe (12) so as to suck in air.

The inlet structure may further optionally include a downstream annular section in which the wall surface bounding the gas stream is blanketed with a falling liquid film, to combat solids deposition or formation on the blanketed wall surface.

Operation of the exhaust fan creates an air flow through the air intake port, causing the stream of air exiting the lower open end to impinge upon and agitate the top surface of the liquid, resulting in evaporation of the liquid into the air in the container.
