A demister having a sound absorbing performance is disposed on an outer periphery of a partition plate. Compressed gas which enters the interior of a housing through a compressed gas inlet port flows as rotating flow in a flow path between the partition plate and a portion of a side wall of the housing opposed to the partition plate. Pressure pulsation of the compressed gas is diminished by the demister, and a compressor pulsation noise by the rotating flow of the compressed gas is diminished by the sound absorption of the demister. Further, with the demister, reflection of the compressed gas at a wall surface of the partition plate is suppressed, and scattering of lubricating liquid separated from the compressed gas is suppressed.

Abstract: An air cleaner and resonator assembly is formed from a lower shell portion and an upper shell portion that are joined together to define an interior cavity having an inlet through which air is drawn. An exit tube, formed within the lower shell portion, directs air from the inlet to the engine. A middle shell portion is positioned within the inter cavity and is joined to both the upper and lower shell portions. A lower portion of a resonator is molded into the lower shell portion and an upper portion of the resonator assembly is molded into the middle shell portion. The upper portion is aligned with the lower portion and the middle and lower shell portions are welded together to form a sealed resonator chamber that attenuates engine noise. The upper and lower shell portions are then welded together to form the air cleaner and resonator assembly. Air filters are installed within the interior cavity and are selectively accessible through movable covers installed in the upper shell portion.

  • Patent number: 6626984
Abstract: An apparatus for removing dust and fumes from a flow of air, particularly a flow of air exhausted from an industrial work area. There is a large, cylindrical filter element mounted within a cylindrical collector barrel so as to define an annular flow space between the two. A vane assembly is mounted at the top of the collector barrel for directing the incoming flow of air along a generally cyclonic path through the flow space, so that sparks and heavy particulates are forced outwardly away from the surface of the filter element, thereby increasing filter life and reducing the chance of fire. The filter element and collector barrel are mounted atop a cabinet which encloses a blower and a silencer section. The silencer section includes one ore more chambers having interior walls for redirecting the flow of air exiting the blower, and the walls are lined with an acoustic insulation material for absorbing sound energy as the flow of air is redirected, thus reducing noise emissions from the assembly.

Abstract: A device to be interposed within the conduit of a fluid flow system to reduce or eliminate the noise associated with such systems. The device is made up of at least two cylindrical chambers, one within the other. The inner chamber is closed at the top, has a fluid entry port at the bottom, and a plurality of fluid exit nozzles symmetrically arranged about the side wall. The outer chamber is closed at the bottom and has a fluid exit port at the top. The entry port, exit port and inner chamber as well as the fluid flow system conduit have the same internal cross sectional areas. The sum of the cross sectional areas of the exit nozzles is equal to the cross sectional area of the conduit. The addition of a liquid exit port at the bottom of the outer chamber allows the device to also function to separate a gas from a fluid mixture. Multiple units may be utilized within a fluid flow system.

Abstract: A separator for substantially resolving at least one component of a process stream, such as from the exhaust of an internal combustion engine. The separator includes a body defining a chamber therein. A nozzle housing is located proximate the chamber. An exhaust inlet is in communication with the nozzle housing and the chamber. A nozzle assembly is positioned in the nozzle housing and includes a nozzle moveable within and relative to the nozzle housing. The nozzle includes at least one passage formed therethrough such that a process stream entering the exhaust inlet connection passes through the passage formed in the nozzle and imparts a substantially rotational flow to the process stream as it enters the chamber. A positioning member is configured to position the nozzle relative to the nozzle housing in response to changes in process stream pressure thereby adjusting flowrate of said process stream entering into the chamber.

Abstract: An air treatment appliance for treating surrounding air including a body. A spider-mount mounted to the body has a motor mounted thereto in cantilever fashion. A fan attached to the motor may be a radial fan, and is operable to draw in surrounding air and cause it to flow through the appliance. A grommet between the motor and the spider-mount dampens vibrations from the motor. A filtering mechanism in the path of the airflow helps filter out undesirable material from the surrounding air. A radial airflow guide downstream from the fan efficiently guides the airflow to be expelled in a predetermined direction. The motor is at least partially accommodated by the spider-mount and the fan. The apparatus results in reduced noise and vibration during operation of the appliance.
