  • Patent number: 4116732
Abstract: A buried load device in an integrated circuit extends between two regions of like conductivity isolated from each other by thick oxide and substrate comprises a channel beneath the oxide and having dimensions defined by a diffused region of opposite conductivity type. The buried channel is formed by impurity migration from an upper epitaxial layer that is oxidized to separate two regions and the connecting channel width is defined by diffused strip regions of opposite conductivity to establish a desired current-voltage relationship thereof.

  • Patent number: 4082000
Abstract: An improved structure for a disposable meat and poultry thermometer has a unitary top barrel closure extending laterally outward from a barrel beneath an indicating stem latched in storage position by a prong on the stem engaging the top closure. Lifting the outer end of the stem releases the latch so that a compression spring within the barrel urges an inner axial stem extension into a front barrel bore containing a material having a predetermined softening temperature so that the stem moves inwardly of the barrel as the inner barrel end temperature increases. Upper stem markings indicate thermometer temperature preferably in terms of the degree to which meat or the like is cooked.

  • Patent number: 4080230
Abstract: A method and system for applying at least one thick sheet of uncured rubber as a layer about the periphery of a buffed tire carcass and "sticking" the layer thereto by pressure applied from the crown of the tire outward as the tire is rotated. A tread design is formed in the rubber layer by at least one heated cutter which is prealigned with the tire carcass and is limited to impovement along a predetermined path for each of a plurality of angularly indexed tire positions. After tread formation the layer is vulcanized onto the tire carcass by the application of heat and pressure and the rubber cut from the layer is reused in forming a sheet of rubber for another tire tread.

  • Patent number: 3988511
Abstract: Proteins such as seed meal proteins, casein and caseinates are converted to readily water dispersible end products by providing a dry substrate which is the protein or a carbohydrate sweetening agent and is a small fraction of the weight of the end product, mixing a surfactant such as lecithin with the substrate to provide a uniform blend of substrate and surfactant, adding to and intimately mixing with the blend an increment of the protein which is a small fraction of the weight of the end product and continuing addition of the protein in increments each of which is a minor fraction of the total weight of the end product until an end product results which contains not less than 90% of the protein and not more than 2% of the surfactant. This process enables production of readily dispersible protein products containing amounts of surfactant considerably less than 1% by weight such as less than 0.1%.
