    Abstract: Circuits that solve stochastic problems and techniques for operating them. These natively stochastic circuits may produce samples from probability distributions of interest for particular stochastic problems, and may be combined together in any suitable way to yield potential solutions to stochastic problems. In some implementations, the stochastic circuits may generate samples from conditional probability distributions conditioned on input data provided to the stochastic circuits. The circuits may be constructed from multiple interconnected stochastic subcircuits such that a circuit may produce a sample from a joint probability distribution, or from a marginal distribution of a joint distribution. These circuits may be used to implement stochastic sampling algorithms to solve stochastic processes, and may include stochastic subcircuits that operate concurrently.

    Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for providing fast reroute of a packet that may be forwarded on one of a plurality of Equal Cost Multi Path (ECMP) routes through a network is presented. A packet is received by a Forwarding Data Unit (FDU) in a data plane of a network element. The unicast packet is routed at L3, and ECMP is enabled for a next hop for the unicast packet. An ECMP route is selected for forwarding the packet to a destination port. A lookup is performed in a port state table maintained by the FDU to determine an available local port for said ECMP route that is in an UP state for the destination, and if no local port is UP, then a lookup is performed in the port state table to determine an available remote port that is in an UP state for the selected ECMP route.

    Abstract: Traffic pending delivery to sleeping Mobile Units is buffered in an Access Controller. When a particular sleeping Mobile Unit wakes up, the Access Point with which the Mobile Unit is associated signals to the Mobile Unit indicating that traffic is buffered for that Mobile Unit. In response to signaling from the Mobile Unit via the Access Point, the Access Controller forwards the traffic buffered for that Mobile Unit. In particular, the traffic is transmitted from the Access Controller to the Access Point, and then from the Access Point to the Mobile Unit. A limit may be placed on the amount of time during which the Access Controller buffers traffic for a particular Mobile Unit.

In response to a trigger condition, layer 2 communications are selectively switched from a path that includes the primary next Rbridge device to a path that includes the alternate next Rbridge device.

    Abstract: A shared (proxy) OAM session is performed in a packet-based network on behalf of a plurality of connections. First and second connections are each routed between respective nodes of the network for carrying data traffic. The second connection shares a portion of the routing of the first connection. The shared OAM session is performed along a path which is co-routed with at least part of the shared portion of the routing of the first connection and the second connection. Failure notification signalling is propagated to an endpoint node of each of the first and second connections when the shared OAM session indicates a failure has occurred. The use of a shared OAM session reduces processing at nodes and reduces OAM traffic. Each connection can be a trunk, such as a PBT/PBB-TE trunk, or a service carried within a trunk.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a method is deployed for loading a user CA certificate into the trusted certificate storage of a network device. The method comprises a number of operations. A first operation involves a downloading of addressing information. Thereafter, a communication session is established using the addressing information for retrieval of a bootstrapping digital certificate that can be digitally verified by the network device using its factory settings. Keying information is extracted from the bootstrapping digital certificate and the keying information can be used to verify that the communication session is between the network device and a certificate server being different than a source for the addressing information. Upon verification that the network device is in communication with the certificate server, the user CA certificate is downloaded from the certificate server using a secure channel that is established based on the bootstrapping digital certificate.

    Abstract: The downstream IP packets of uni-cast services, such as Internet Access or Voice over IP network, are transported over the pseudo wire from service provider nodes at the metro hub to the access edge, whereupon they are converted to be transported on the first mile technology, such as a DSL loop, that serves the subscriber's residence. A television service provider delivers the collection of television channels through the regional network to an intermediate node, herein called the metro edge device. The function of the metro edge for downstream uni-cast traffic is to de-multiplex the downstream pseudo-wires coming on packet trunks from metro hubs, into a greater number of packet trunks leading to access edges. In this invention the metro edge device is operable to unicast individual selected channels to the subscriber's residence by adding copies of the IP packets of the selected channels into the downstream flow of packets in the subscriber's pseudo wire.

    Abstract: A high-current Multi-Port USB hub has a microcontroller that selectively switches the hub between low current synchronizing state and high current charging state. During charging state in excess of two Amps of current can be provided to each device connected to the hub. Each USB port circuit includes a power FET to selectively provide current to the USB port according to the state of the hub. Current sensors on each of the USB ports detects an amount of current being drawn by a device connected to the USB port. Each USB port is provided with indicators to indicate the charged state of the device connected to that port. The charge state of the device is also provided to the microcontroller which provides a summary status indication of the set of devices connected to the USB hub.
