  • Patent number: 6335787
Abstract: A projection optical system includes a first objective portion and an optical axis turn portion, each having an optical axis perpendicular to a reticle; an optical axis deflecting portion having an optical axis perpendicularly intersecting the above optical axis; and a second objective portion having an optical axis parallel to the above optical axis. An image-forming light beam from the reticle is returned toward the reticle by the first objective portion and a concave mirror provided in the optical axis turn portion to form a one-to-one image of the reticle. The returned image-forming light beam is led to the second objective portion through the optical axis deflecting portion to form a demagnified image on a wafer. During exposure, nitrogen gas is supplied through a gas changeover device to an illumination system unit, a reticle stage system unit, and a wafer stage system unit. During maintenance, air having ozone removed therefrom is supplied to these units through the gas changeover device.

  • Patent number: 6336007
Abstract: An evaluation method and printer in which a maintenance man may easily identify a deteriorated component in addition to a component that is broken down or is remarkably hard to operate without the need for any additional complex detecting device. A printer has a control part which controls a mechanical part and judges quantitatively in which state among normal, deteriorated, and abnormal states each mechanical part component is located. This judgment will change in accordance with whether the printer is in a maintenance or a normal mode. Further, a deteriorated component can be determined by visually inspecting a copy after one or a combination of electric parameters have been set to printable upper and lower limits.

  • Patent number: 6335908
Abstract: A magneto-optical recording medium includes a transparent substrate, an underlying layer, a reproducing layer, a mask layer, a recording layer, and a protection layer. Reproducing layer is an in-plane magnetization film at room temperature and is transformed into a perpendicular magnetization film at about 150° C. Mask layer is an in-plane magnetization film at room temperature and reaches the Curie temperature around 140° C. which is lower than the reproducing temperature. Only the region whose temperature has reached the Curie temperature is demagnetized, and the other region retains the in-plane magnetization. The width of region whose temperature reaches the Curie temperature is substantially equal to the shortest domain length of recording layer. The magnetic domain of recording layer is transferred to reproducing layer 3 through the demagnetized region of mask layer.

  • Patent number: 6334925
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for bonding together two disc substrates, at least one disc substrate having a UV transmissive-visible light reflective information recording layer provided on a UV transmission base. In this method, the disc substrates are bonded together, so that the information recording layer of one disc substrate faces the other disc substrate, by employing UV irradiation to cure a UV curable composition used as a bonding agent. In the case of the present invention, to cure the bonding agent, UV is irradiated in a single or repeating flash so as not to impair the information recording layer. As a result, the bonding agent can be cured in a shorter period of time with less energy consumed as compared to the conventional method of using conditions irradiation of UV light to cure a UV curable composition used as a bonding agent. Accordingly, the present method enables a product disc to be obtained in a shorter time, with less energy used, so that productivity (i.e.
