  • Patent number: 7610150
Abstract: A route data base generating system avoids GPS satellite signals sources for land based vehicle azimuth and heading determinations in areas where reception of the satellite signals is unavailable or impaired and relies on vehicle part movements that are equitable to the heading and azimuth changes of the vehicle for determining such vehicle orientations. Part movements equitable to the heading changes are found in the vehicle wheel assemblies. A route data base founded on interconnecting linear route segments that are arranged in and end-to-end serial order is advocated and wherein the angular deviation between connecting segments in the order is predetermined. Various uses of the generating systems and related procedures are advocated for both on-the-road and off-road usage.

  • Patent number: 7520084
Abstract: A spear assembly for an underwater spear gun has an elongate shaft adapted to be fired from a spear gun and has a long axis, a forward portion, and a rearward portion. A tip member includes having front and rear portions with the tip member being removably attached to the forward portion of the shaft. An elongated cable has a forward end attached to the tip and a rearward portion attached to rearward portion of the shaft. Two barbs are included to improve operation of the spear. A rotatable rear cable restraint impedes movement of the cable and the tip member until the spear is fired from a spear gun. Another restraint means is also used for releasably securing the forward end of the cable to the tip member at a medial portion thereof. The assembly can also be used with pole spears and Hawaiian slings.

  • Patent number: 7513728
Abstract: A reduced material fastener has a shank cross-section selected to provide a parting line. Having a parting line means that the fastener may be made using two opposing dies, including roller dies, to cold form the cross-section. The cross-sections do not have to be symmetrical with respect to the parting line as long as hypothetical dies can be separated. Typical fasteners include common nails. Cross-sections having parting lines may have fin-like protuberances that result in less material being used for the same overall outline as a round cross-section. A computer aided design methodology and a nail making apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7497043
Abstract: A magazine doubler includes a resilient body with two cavities each having upstanding ribs to carry magazines therein at different heights. A bracket and spaced screws are mounted medially between the front and back of the body to squeeze the body to generally conform it to carried magazines therein. A blocking element is used to replace the top round in one magazine to prevent the upper round from being dislodged during use of the doubler. Such element is tethered and biased by a rubber band looping around one of the screw shanks.

  • Patent number: 7478727
Abstract: System and method for a continuous process for separating particles according to their magnetic properties such as Curie point includes a feed of hot particles having different magnetic properties on a moving surface spaced above a stationary magnetic assembly. The temperature of the bed of particles is controlled to enable selective separation of different factions of particles based upon the temperature of the particles. The magnets are maintained substantially below their Curie point. Gaseous nitrogen is fed into and from the inside of the magnetic assembly to enhance the cooling of the magnetic assembly and to inhibit oxidation. The gas exits through high temperature bearings to inhibit debris therein. A thermal shield is placed between the moving surface and the magnets and below tubes carrying a cooling fluid to maintain magnets substantially below their Curie point. The entire process is contained with an inert gas-purged cabinet.

  • Patent number: 7413378
Abstract: A boat lifting assembly includes a cradle for carrying a boat mounted between three pilings on each cradle side. A pair of support housings is affixed to the pilings on each cradle side. A pair of hydraulic lifts are housed in the housings and connected to the cradle for moving same vertically. Each lift includes a horizontally extensible piston carrying a piston pulley block and a stationary hydraulic cylinder. Three cables have one end portion threaded between the pulleys of the block and the cradle. Transition pulleys are supported by the housing and direct the cable vertically for moving the cradle when the block is moved. Additional pulleys and various anchor points may be employed to provide for vertical lifts of 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 times the distance of movement of the piston. The housings are in the same plane as the cradle deck and/or dock.
