Abstract: Metallic card clothing is illustrated having sharp metallic points C at tips of teeth 32 formed by punching and thereafter exerting a mechanical force bending metal over at the tips of the teeth.
Abstract: Method for removing gaseous monomer emitted during the manufacture of polymer fibers include collecting the gaseous monomer in a suction nozzle constructed of smooth polymeric material having low heat conductivity to avoid monomer buildup therein and delivering same upwardly through a water trap to a transport duct which is kept sufficiently wet to receive and remove monomer solids carried in the water which flows by gravity in the duct.
Abstract: A fixture is illustrated for servicing a loom feeder plate assembly, having a feeder gripper beneath a guide block riveted to a plate, providing a plurality of work stations for carrying out the servicing operations.

Abstract: An automatic boat bow latch has an elongated sloping lip for properly positioning the bow hook into the latch; a pair of guide arms equipped with rollers to guide the bow into proper alignment with the latch as well as protect both the bow of the boat and the bow latch.
Abstract: A fluid operated apparatus having a cylinder assembly, a piston and a rod is illustrated wherein cap members are provided with a first circumferential groove and a reduced end portion while a second circumferential groove is carried opposite the first circumferential groove within the cylinder assembly forming a seat for a deformable ring. A method of assembling the fluid operated apparatus contemplates inserting an end cap into the cylinder and then mounting a deformable ring in an adjacent groove in the cylinder and then forcing the cap out so that the ring passes over a reduced conical end portion of the cap and is positioned in the seat formed between the opposed grooves for deforming the ring.
Abstract: A guided cylinder is illustrated wherein a yoke for bridging diagonally opposed guide rods has connection thereto by means of enlarged aligned abutments adjacent upper ends of the guide rods to provide a mounting as well as flats for securely holding guide rods while affixing the yoke and thereafter providing a stable mounting for the yoke.
Abstract: Textile yarn is fed beneath a permanent magnetic ring (A) to a driven bobbin, wherein a fixed ring (B) carried on a ring rail and having an extension (C) projecting inwardly beneath the permanent magnetic ring provides a physical enclosure about the permanent magnetic ring, which has a complementary peripheral surface. The fixed ring supplies a repulsive magnetic force causing the permanent magnetic ring to float in a maintained centered relation therein. The fixed ring may be comprised of either permanent magnets held in stacked relation by removable clips or electromagnets connected by a hinge.
Abstract: An attachment for use with a grease gun receives grease under pressure therefrom in a reservoir, and at least three, outwardly projecting, circumferentially spaced nozzles are carried by the attachment uniformly dispensing grease into and supporting a hub upon a spindle.
Abstract: A decorative mailbox cover adapted to fit a standard street mounted postal box wherein the decorative cover is formed of a flexible sheet, and wherein the cover provides for a cut out guide on its inner left side for the proper positioning of a slot to be fitted over the mailbox flag and adhesive strips positioned in a longitudinal direction along its inner edges for securing the cover to the mailbox.
Abstract: An octagonal housing having three sides thereof forming a door for receipt of a large metallic drum. The housing has an octagonal top space which matingly contains an octagonal pressure plate which is engagable by a hydraulic ram for compressing a drum between the octagonal pressure plate and a base supporting the housing.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transporting a load upon a vehicle is provided. The apparatus of the invention is a carrier assembly for attachment to a receiver mounted on the rear of a vehicle. The carrier assembly comprises a basket, a hitch for attaching the carrier assembly to the receiver, a riser extending upwardly and outwardly from the hitch, an extension projecting rearwardly from the riser and supporting the basket, and a pivotal connection whereby the basket may be maintained in an upright position or pivoted down and away from the vehicle. The method is carried out using the apparatus to transport loads and by pivoting the basket rearwardly and downwardly from an upright transport position to facilitate access to the rear of the vehicle.
Abstract: A novel pail is provided comprising a plurality of tapered side sections including at least a top and bottom side section, the side sections being nested one to another in series such that the sections may be collapsed into a completed nested assembly or extended to a fully telescoped assembly in the form of a pail.
Abstract: A portable livestock barrier is disclosed which includes a rigid metal panel of open grid construction that is arranged to rest in a normal operational position that is parallel to the ground to thus form a raised grid which livestock will not cross but which can be flattened to the ground against a resilient return force when a vehicle is driven across it. The rigid metal panel is supported by a resilient suspension which permits the panel to tilt with respect to its normal operating position and to be forced flat against the ground when the weight of a vehicle is applied to it. The livestock barrier does not require a pit or special surface preparation for its installation. It may be quickly installed on any solid, relatively level surface. The unit is transportable and it can be readily moved from one location to another without disassembly.
Abstract: A fuel treatment apparatus having a settling chamber with a fuel introducing conduit passing through the top of the chamber and extending to a lower portion of the chamber to define a fuel inlet in the lower portion of the chamber. A buoyant valve means is located within the first conduit means to permit fuel introduction during normal operation but to close off the conduit during periods of non-operation and thus closing off fluid communication between the fuel treatment apparatus and the fuel tank. A fuel outlet is provided to remove the fuel after the treatment. A recess in the bottom of the chamber has drain means in the bottom thereof for the removal of moisture from the bottom of the chamber. Novel means are provided to permit introduction of fuel when the normal fuel inlet is clogged, for example, by the freezing of collected moisture therein. This is provided by means of a secondary small fuel inlet in an upper portion of the first conduit means.
Abstract: A strengthened article formed from a ceramic having a bore through a portion thereof and with a metal rod adhered by heat-settable adhesive to the ceramic within the bore thereof. The metal rod has a greater coefficient of thermal expansion than the ceramic thereby placing this ceramic in compression upon heat setting and cooling of the overall article.
