  • Patent number: 8259416
Abstract: A disk drive head suspension including a load beam having a load beam load point region and a flexure, attached to the load beam, having a flexure load point region. A mass of viscoelastic material is fixedly attached to both load beam load point region and flexure load point region to form a pinned load point. A method for manufacturing a disk drive head suspension of the type having a flexure with a flexure load point region on a load beam with a load beam load point region. The flexure load point region is spaced apart from the load beam load point region. A load point is formed by applying a mass of viscoelastic material to the load point region of at least one of the flexure and the load beam.

  • Patent number: 8259228
Abstract: A method for deinterlacing video includes constructing a temporary frame of deinterlaced video based on a first (i.e., current) field of interlaced video, wherein the temporary frame includes pixels in lines of the temporary frame associated with the first field of interlaced video, placeholder pixels in identified areas of motion in lines of the frame associated with a missing field of interlaced video, and pixels from an opposite field of polarity of interlaced video in areas without motion. The method further includes replacing the placeholder pixels in the identified areas of motion with pixels interpolated using an edge direction interpolation scheme based on pixels in the first field of interlaced video, resulting in a reconstructed frame. In one example, a motion adaptive interpolator may construct the temporary frame, and an edge directional interpolator may generate the reconstructed/deinterlaced the frame.

  • Patent number: 8258478
Abstract: An apparatus for enabling and disabling a lookdown zone mask in an intrusion detector unit. The unit may include a passive infrared motion detector, a lens assembly, and a mask or cover which selectively enables and disables a lookdown zone associated with the detector. The lens assembly provides a lens proximate the detector. The lens provides the lookdown zone. When the mask substantially covers the lens, the lookdown zone is disabled because the path of radiant energy to the detector is blocked and prevents the detector from detecting any motion in the lookdown zone. When the mask does not cover the lens, the lookdown zone is enabled because the lens permits the path of radiant energy to the detector through the lens and allows the detector to detect any motion in the lookdown zone.

  • Patent number: 8252248
Abstract: The invention relates to an analytical test element for analysis of a liquid sample. The analytical test element may contain a channel which is suitable for capillary transport of the liquid sample and which is provided with an inlet opening for the liquid sample and with an air outlet opening. At least one test field may be arranged in the channel, spaced apart from the inlet opening. The test element comprises a sample application site which is closed with a seal and which is designed in such a way that, when the seal is opened, the sample application site and the inlet opening of the channel are simultaneously open to the outside environment of the test element. The test element can then receive the liquid sample inside the channel via the sample application site and inlet opening, for analysis in the test field. The invention also relates to a test element magazine and to a system for analysis of liquid samples with at least one test element.

  • Patent number: 8255055
Abstract: A medical device includes a pulse generator, an electrode configured to contact tissue in a coronary vessel, a lead comprising a lead conductor, the lead conductor connecting the pulse generator with the electrode, and a filter circuit electrically connected in series between the lead conductor and the electrode. The filter circuit may include a band pass filter that attenuates signals having a frequency other than a natural resonance frequency (e.g. MRI device signals), and the pulse generator may transmit therapy signals to the electrode as a sinusoidal voltage wave at the natural resonance frequency. The filter circuit may include a diode that rectifies the sinusoidal voltage wave before the rectified sinusoidal voltage wave passes to the electrode. In some embodiments, therapy signals may be provided to the electrode through the band pass filter over a natural resonance frequency range.
