Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a lifting assembly such as a jib crane or similar apparatus having an articulated arm assembly and a flexible means for connecting a load to an actuator. The lift arm assembly forms an articulated cantilever boom, which is extensible so as to traverse a suspended load within a work cell area. The lift arm assembly further includes a first and second member pivotally connected to one another whereby an inclined plane (e.g., a cam) at the pivot point of the articulating arms provides a vertical displacement of the secondary arms thereby moving the distal end of the secondary arm to counterbalance inherent forces acting thereon.
Abstract: A method for halftoning an image using an error diffusion process generates an upper threshold level and a lower threshold level and selects a region number parameter. A pixel from the input image is selected and compared to the upper and lower threshold levels. A first pixel value is output when the input pixel value is below the lower threshold level. The first pixel value is output when the input pixel value is below the upper threshold level and above the lower threshold level and a value of the input pixel divided by the region number parameter, modulo 2, equals zero. A second pixel value, the first pixel value being different from the second pixel value, is output when the input pixel value is below the upper threshold level and above the lower threshold level and a value of the input pixel divided by the region number parameter, modulo 2, is greater than zero. The second pixel value is output when the input pixel value is above the upper threshold level.
Abstract: A method and system reconstructs a contone image from a binary image by first tagging pixels to identify one of a multiplicity of image content types. The tag information and the pattern of bits surrounding the pixel to be converted to a contone value are used to reconstruct a contone image from a binary image. The pattern of bits in the neighborhood is used to generate a unique identifier. The unique identifier is used as the address for a lookup table with the contone value to be used. A filter also generates a contone value. A selector selects between the look-up table contone value and the filter contone value based an image context type.

Abstract: A system for electronically distilling information from a business document uses a network scanner to electronically scan a platen area, having a business document thereon, to create a bitmap. A network server carries out a segmentation process to segment the scan generated bitmap into a bitmap object, the bitmap object corresponding to the scanned business document; a bitmap to text conversion process to convert the bitmap object into a block of text; a semantic recognition process to generate a structured representation of semantic entities corresponding to the scanned business document; and a document generation process to convert the structured representation into a structure text file.

Abstract: A print system senses the type of a recording medium. The print system modifies the amount of marking material on an imaging drum when the sensed the recording medium type requires a modification to the amount of marking material on the imaging drum. Moreover, the print system changes a transfix parameter when the sensed the recording medium type requires a modification to the transfix parameter.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for processing image data, which may be generated by a scanning subsystem, and the segmentation and treatment of leaky windows or segments within the image. In addition to the identification of window regions or segments having leaky boundaries, the method and system include the subsequent control of enhancement and other image processing techniques applied to such images so as to reduce or eliminate artifacts that result from the processing of leaky window regions.

Abstract: An image rendering system includes a digital front end to electronically analyze image data to generate geometry dependent image content information. A print engine, operatively connected to the digital front end, renders the image data. A print engine controller, operatively connected to the digital front end and the print engine, controls various parameters of the print engine. The digital front end transmits the image content information to the print engine controller. The print engine controller adjusts a parameter of the print engine based on the transmitted image content information. The transmitted image content information may be coverage information, reload information, and/or toner pile height information. The parameter of the print engine adjusted based upon the transmitted image content information may be fuser temperature and/or process speed of a developer housing and/or flow rate of toner into a developer housing.
Abstract: In an on-line financial screening service, a database of financial and intellectual property information is searched to find at least one financial security matching user defined financial search criteria. Selection preferences for a financial security are defined as search criteria. The financial search criteria includes but is not limited to the following: Stock Price, Price/Earnings Ratio, Current Ratio, Debt/Equity Ratio, Cash/Price ratio, Earnings per Share Growth-1 Yr, Earnings per Share Growth-5 Yr, Insider Trades, Institutional Holdings %, Price/Book Ratio, Price/Cash Flow Ratio. The databases are repeatedly searched for records matching the financial selection criteria preferences of the user. Financial securities meeting the users search criteria are then matched to an intellectual property database to determine the number of patents a financial security has been issued.

Abstract: A method and system converts a binary image into an analog image by first tagging pixels that are part of edges in the digital image and using this tagging information to eliminate such tagged pixels from the digital filtering process. The elimination of such tagged pixels from the digital filtering process substantially eliminates artifacts near the edges, thereby reducing any distraction from the perceived quality of the output image.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the economical and reliable assembly of buss plates and components thereon, having a bushing positioned on one or more surfaces or therebetween. A resilient retainer is employed to retain bushings in proximity to buss plate through holes to facilitate easy assembly. The use of the resilient retainer eliminates the requirement for costly and potentially adverse pre-assembly soldering of the bushing into position.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for test target selection in conjunction with dynamic test pattern generation. In the invention, a test pattern page(s) is composed using an optimal set of test targets, which can be accommodated or adjusted to fit within size constraints of the test pattern. The method of the present invention makes use of layout optimization to ensure that related and optimized test targets are accommodated on a single test pattern. For example, it may be preferable to “squeeze in” a smaller-than-normal uniform area target, rather than not to print it at all during a test.

Abstract: A content or document management system includes a content or document repository; a dedicated e-mail account; and a mail agent associated with the dedicated e-mail account. The mail agent processes a received e-mail message to determine a sender's identity; authenticates the identity of the sender and an authorization of the sender with respect to the content or document repository; parses, when a sender is authenticated and authorized, document request information from the e-mail message; and either stores a document to or retrieves a document from the content or document repository. The mail agent may authenticate the identity of the sender using a digital signature, or may authenticate the identity of the sender using an e-mail address in a FROM header field of the received e-mail message header. The mail agent may decrypt encrypted messages from the sender, and may sign and encrypt responses to the sender.
Abstract: Provided is a method for the automated selection of sample documents or pages from a large collection, and more particularly an application of the method in a proof presentment environment—where the method is employed for selection and review of representative or extreme pages from a large document, such as one scheduled for printing. The method characterizes pages or documents in a multi-dimensional vector space based upon a set of characteristics, and then uses clustering techniques to group the pages, enabling the selection of typical pages from the groups, outlier pages from extremes lying outside of the groups, or both typical and outlier pages.

Abstract: The disclosed systems and methods pertain to the processing of large format images in a manner to avoid introducing imaging defects, and more particularly to dividing the large image into bands, processing these bands in parallel and then putting them back together in to create the final processed image. The methods include the use of overlapping the image bands, padding of the bands prior to processing and the redefinition of image values at common boundaries of the bands to minimize or eliminate visible defects.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for checking and identifying images and other document components that may not be suitably rendered by an output device or process. The method employs a dual-mode analysis of visual image attributes to determine an aggregate confidence while also checking individual image attributes, to determine whether image content requires adjustment prior to being printed or rendered.
