  • Patent number: 8229174
Abstract: A method and apparatus for estimating motion and occlusion is disclosed. In one aspect, a method of estimating motion and occlusion between three or more frames in a video stream includes identifying a plurality of motion vector candidates for each of a forward direction and a backward direction, generating a plurality of candidate pairs, determining an energy for at least some of the plurality of candidate pairs using a processor by jointly evaluating the forward motion vector and the backward motion vector of at least some of the plurality of candidate pairs based on interframe difference, spatial motion correlation, temporal motion correlation, and spatial occlusion correlation, and estimating motion and occlusion between the three or more frames by selecting a candidate vector from the plurality of candidate vectors based on the determined energies.

  • Patent number: 8226491
Abstract: An athletic field is constructed using side-by-side conjoined layers of resilient synthetic material placed over a drain blanket and extending to a peripheral trench drain. The primary material construction is a rollable layer approximately 4 feet wide by 200 feet long comprising a dimpled polyethylene core material with bonded top and bottom thin, flexible geotechnic fabric layers. A flange and flap system along one edge receives the opposite edge of the joining strip to bond the laterally adjoining layers together in a shingling or tiered manner to promote drainage and to keep water out of the resilient pliable structure. The top surface is overlaid with artificial turf.

  • Patent number: 8229586
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling a complex product in a parallel process system wherein a collection of components are provided for assembling the complex product. The present invention involves transferring the collection of the components to one of a plurality of similar computerized assembly cells through the use of a transport system. The collection of components is automatically assembled into the complex product through the use of the computerized assembly cells. The complex product is then transferred from one of the assembly cells to a computerized test cell, where the complex product is tested to ensure for the proper dimensioning and functioning of the complex product. The complex product is then transferred from the test cell via the transport system to either a part reject area or conveyor, if the complex product is defective, or to an automatic dunnage load or part return system, if the complex product is not defective.

  • Patent number: 8211374
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus 1 for the treatment of air comprising a low power corona discharge ozone generator 5,6 inside a chamber 9 having an inlet 2 and an outlet 7, and at least one air flow impeller 3 for inducing a flow of air through the chamber 9. The ozone generator 5,6 is formed and arranged for generating a restricted concentration of ozone, within an inactivating zone 10 contained within the chamber 9, through which the air flow is passed. The restricted concentration is sufficient to inactivate airborne pollutant material entrained in the air flow, yet decays sufficiently outside the inactivating zone so that the concentration of ozone in the cleaned air expelled from the apparatus 1 is at a physiologically acceptable level without the use of an ozone decomposition catalyzer.

  • Patent number: 8210087
Abstract: The invention is an adapter and a method for securing a silencer/suppressor to the barrel of a firearm. The invention incorporates a uniformly deformable spring washer positioned within a cavity within the adapter. The cavity communicates with an opening in the silencer/suppressor into which the discharge end of the barrel of the firearm is fitted. As the silencer/suppressor is secured to the discharge end of the barrel of the weapon, the uniformly deformable spring washer is deformed uniformly, locking the silencer/suppressor together with the barrel of the weapon, and preventing the silencer/suppressor from separating from the barrel.

  • Patent number: 8181303
Abstract: A car wash brush is constructed by sliding multi-layered, wheel-shaped foam plastic cartridges onto a hub with three keyways formed in the outer surfaces thereof. The cartridges use spacers interspersed with foam layers and adhesively bonded to the foam layers. The spacers have keys which fit into die hub keyways to prevent relative rotation while allowing, longitudinal sliding motion. Multiple cartridges are used to produce a brush of desired length. Old style hubs can be salvaged for use in this construction.
