Abstract: A cover for an animal tank, fish tank or the like having an open top, and peripheral side portions having an exterior peripheral lip. The cover is formed of a flat screen attached to a continuous frame, which is provided with a plurality of resilient depending tabs having inwardly directed flanges which are adapted to engage beneath the lip of the tank, and are biased into engagement with the side portion of the top of the tank to lock the flange and lip together and secure the cover on the tank.
Abstract: Mechanical components for holding and positioning a laparoscope incident to its use during surgery, wherein a selectively tensionable cable-type component is released for moving the laparoscope almost into its desired position and then tensioned into a rigid structure, and then a ball and socket joint is rendered operational to complete the moving of the laparoscope, if need be, to precisely position this instrument in its required anatomy-viewing position.
Abstract: A rowing exercise device in which the heretofore individually operated right and left hand rowing or exercise handles are now, according to the within invention, also optionally operated in unison, by the exerciser gripping a handle-uniting structure connected in spanning relation between the hand grips of the exercise handles, and wherein the handle-uniting structure counter-rotates to obviate slippage in the exerciser's grip.
Abstract: A standard cargo container is reconstructed into a readily transportable hospital unit for providing emergency treatment to injured survivors at a site of a major disaster, wherein the structural features embodied by the container contribute to its transportability to the disaster site (except, of course, instead of cargo, the container houses medical facilities and supplies), and subsequently at the site the container has surface transportability as a result of an internal combustion engine-operated four-wheel drive which is supplemented by a rear pair of idler wheels that are vertically extendable and retractable so as to maintain a horizontal orientation in the container during the loading and unloading thereof from a cargo-type aircraft.
Abstract: Apparatus for and method of desoldering and removing a soldered together integrated circuit from a mounting member and for cleaning the same in which the integrated circuit and the mounting member are placed in tension in preparation of separating the same so that when the securing solder is melted the integrated circuit and mounting member separate from each other. The integrated circuit and mounting member are subjected to a pressurized flow of fluid which bathes the integrated circuit in an enclosure that is completed by the mounting member so that the mounting member and the integrated circuit are cleaned of solder and are also cooled.
Abstract: A hinge for the temple piece of an eyeglass frame that uses two hinge members that assemble with each from the side, thus facilitating achieving an interfitting relation with each other, and in which an extension of the stationary hinge member projects into a notch of the pivotally movable hinge member to contribute to the strength of the hinge and also functioning as a stop for the pivotal traverse thereof.
Abstract: A rotary friction device having at least a plate supporting a friction element for frictional engagement between relatively rotatable members. When in frictional engagement the plate is placed in tension to tend to stretch the expanse of the same to prevent the application of compressive forces thereon or flexure thereof so as to avoid the production of chattering and related problems by the same.
Abstract: A storage cabinet for printed circuit boards is provided with a housing having a pair of substantially parallel and opposed flat surfaced support members on each of which is secured a plurality of printed circuit board retaining plates arranged in edge to edge relationship. The retaining plates are removably secured and held to the support members by inter-engagement means comprising a plurality of locking bars and at least one locking ridge integrally formed and projecting from the rear surface of each of the retaining plate. The locking bars have in cross section a portion overlying the plate and form therewith a lateral channel. The abutting surface of the support member is provided with a plurality of flexible first and second fingers integrally formed with the supporting member and projecting out of the plane of the supporting member. The first fingers are bent downwardly in a lateral direction opposite the second fingers to engage the locking ridge.
Abstract: Involved is a device, noteworthy by its compact construction, portability and use of a cooperating pair of constant torque springs to dispense liquid under a uniform force, in which any binding in the slide that is urged through movement by the torque springs is obviated, so that the slide tracks properly during liquid-dispensing service of the device.
Abstract: A home portable tabletop carbonated beverage method of making carbonated beverages utilizing a pressurized source of gas, as carbon dioxide, to carbonate a container of liquid by causing the liquid to agitate and to flow within the container while the gas is being supplied to it and vented to escape from it so that the liquid presents changing surfaces to the gas to effect substantial saturation of the liquid with the gas to enhance its carbonation.
Abstract: An open rectangular frame with object-storing trays slidably and rotatably mounted in spanning relation between the long sides of the frame, and opposite extending supports from said frame which enable the frame to be horizontally oriented across the sides of a bathtub and thus function as a bath accessory, and when only one extended support is used, the same is effective to vertically suspend the frame from the shower nozzle or the like, and thereby contribute to its functioning as a shower accessory, and wherein the trays are appropriately rotated in accordance with the horizontal or vertical orientation of the frame.
Abstract: A picnic or similar type food storage container that uses a selected appropriate source for either heat or cold input to the food, in which the source is properly below the food in the heating mode, and above the food in the cooling mode, to thereby provide an enhanced temperature control over the food.
Abstract: A corner bracket for assembling adjacent border members of an "art frame" having a longitudinal channel for receiving the bracket. The bracket is provided with two angularly disposed legs, each of which is formed with a generally triangularly shaped aperture. A wedge is insertable into the aperture to distend the legs into locking engagement with the walls of the border member.
