  • Patent number: 4841617
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing metallic heat exchanger tubes having a heat exchange surface that is increased by fins. A rotating tube has helically wound on its outer surface a strip that forms the fins, with this strip being fed to the tube surface under tension, and with the bottom edge of the strip being welded to the tube. The contact surface that exists between the tube and the bottom edge of the strip, and that extends helically on the surface of the tube, is fused exclusively at the surface of the tube with a laser beam that is directed in the region where the strip runs onto the surface of the tube, and that fuses a portion of the tube surface that in the axial direction of the tube corresponds at least to the width of the bottom edge of the strip and in the circumferential direction corresponds approximately to the same amount. At the same time, the laser beam fuses the bottom edge of the incoming strip in the region where the strip runs onto the surface of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4841766
Abstract: A method and apparatus for checking the concentricity of a pneumatic vehicle tire that during operation has its beam portions mounted on the radially inner periphery of a wheel rim. The apparatus includes a two-part test rim, the two rim ring sections of which are axially movable. Disposed against the test rim is a tire that is to be checked, with this tire being manufactured with trapezoidally axially outwardly directed sidewalls, and with the tire being disposed against the rim ring sections in this trapezoidal form. Bead-receiving rings are moved axially from the outside against the axially moved-apart rim ring sections. These bead-receiving rings fold-over the sidewalls and bring them, in a rim-seating position, into contact against the rim ring section. The tire is secured in position between the rim ring sections and the bead-receiving rings.

  • Patent number: 4841917
Abstract: A radiation cooling unit for cooling dust-laden gas. At least one cylindrical radiation heat transfer surface is disposed in a tank adjacent to, and extending essentially along the length of, an inner wall of the tank. First knock-or impact-beating devices disposed externally of the tank act upon the cylindrical heat transfer surface through the wall of the tank. A plurality of essentially radially and axially extending, partition-like radiation heat transfer surfaces are disposed within a free space in the tank, and each comprise axially extending tubes and at least one header. Second knock- or impact-beating devices are disposed externally of the tank, extend through the cylindrical heat transfer surface, and act upon radially outwardly disposed edges of the partition-like heat transfer surfaces, with the length-to-width ratio of the latter being such that they are adapted to be accelerated and cleaned by the second knock- or impact-beating devices.

  • Patent number: 4841874
Abstract: A pneumatic-spring bogie, particularly for high-speed rail vehicles. These vehicles need a drive device for the bogie, which transmits not only tensile and impact forces but also absorbs vibration, particularly in the longitudinal direction. To this end, first and second rubber buffers are provided that surround the bogie pin in the longitudinal and transverse directions respectively in order to drive the bogie. The free end of the bogie pin is pivotably connected by a damping member to the cross-member of the bogie frame. Advantageously, the pivot point of the bogie is placed in a region between the rubber buffers and the damping member. Secondary suspension is effected by a pneumatic-spring bellows that is disposed concentrically to the bogie pin.

  • Patent number: 4840753
Abstract: Ring injectors for aerating fluids, useful for example in flotation systems, have a housing with a mixing section, in which air is added to the through-flowing fluid through an annular slot. A core is arranged in the center of the mixing section. An air-solid mix is formed in the mixing section by deposition of air bubbles on solid particles. An annular injector with a slot width (Q.sub.2) that leads into the airing chamber with a minimum opacifying speed of 2.0 m/s at the inlet of the aerating chamber, has an annex mixing and dispersing section (6) with a cross-section that remains the same until the end (12), as well as a middle piece (10) centrally arranged therein also having a constant cross-section, the length of the mixing and dispersing section (6) being 20 times the width of the annular slot (Q.sub.3). The distributing cone (2) and the middle piece (10) can be screwed together or inserted into each other. The air slot can be regulated by spacing rings (13).

  • Patent number: 4832100
Abstract: A tire chain having a tread portion that connects an inner portion with an outer portion. The inner portion is provided with a closure, one closure member of which, from a starting position, can be connectable and releasable from the other closure member via a twisting movement. In the twisted position, a return force is operative that acts in the direction toward the starting position. The torsional movement of this one closure member can be easily undertaken. The return force that is operative in the twisted position automatically returns the closure member, after its release, into its starting position, whereupon the closure is properly closed.
