Abstract: A spraying device includes a nozzle head formed with an axial bore connectible to a source of pressurized liquid, an outlet orifice through which the liquid exits in the form of a jet, and a connecting passageway connecting the inlet end to the outlet orifice. A rod passes through the axial bore; and a liquid distribution member is secured to the rod at the outlet orifice to distribute the liquid laterally of the nozzle head. The rod carries an abutment at the bore inlet end and is displaceable axially and laterally within the bore. The connecting passageway of the axial bore, and the adjacent portion of the rod, include complementary conical surfaces defining between them a metering passageway for the liquid flowing to the outlet orifice such that, during operation of the spraying device, the axial position of the rod within the bore, as determined by the abutment, determines the output rate of the spraying device.
Abstract: A holder for an article of the type having a handle at one end and a working member at the opposite end, includes first and second fingers or arms extending in substantially parallel, spaced relation to each other to receive the article handle between them. One described embodiment is constructed as a flat blank of stiff sheet material for holding toothbrushes or similar articles. The flat blank is provided with cut and fold lines to define a pair of side sections normally spaced laterally apart, and a pair of strips separated from each other by cut lines and joined to the side sections by fold lines such that when the two side sections are moved toward each other to a mounting condition, the pair of strips become bowed outwardly of the side sections to serve as the upper and lower arms for supporting the articles between them.

An abutment is located to be impacted by the ball when in its radial outward position during the rotation of the rotary turbine to thereby rotate the water discharge assembly in a series of stepped increments.

Abstract: An expansible bellows, includes a pair of end plates attached together and sealed around their peripheries such that their inner faces confront each other to define between them an expansible chamber for containing a fluid. Abstract: A surgical implement particularly useful for implanting a prosthetic valve in an excised annulus includes a manually grippable handle, and a suture retainer carried by the handle and having an outer face carrying a coiled spring whose coils define an annular array of slits each having opposed yielding surfaces for receiving and releasably retaining sutures between selected coils. Optimum spacing of the sutures according to the shape of the excised annulus is attained by providing reference ribs between selected coils of the spring, and also by making the outer annular face of the suture retainer of substantially the same shape as that of the excised annulus. Implements are described, with a suture retainer and without a suture retainer, including an illuminating device for artificially illuminating the working area. Also described is a method of implanting a prosthetic valve in a quick and efficient manner using such implements.
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for browsing through a motion picture in order to locate desired segments in the motion picture, frames are selected from sequential parts of the motion picture according to predetermined sampling critera, e.g., "by time", "by tag" or "by change". Each selected frame is reduced in size such that the screen can accommodate the simultaneous display of "n" frames. The frames are displayed sequentially at "n" sequential locations on the screen according to a predefined closed loop, each frame being displayed in its respective location for a time interval starting with a time delay "t.sub.D " after the start of the display of the frame at the preceding location in the loop and continuing until the loop has been completed with another frame displayed in its respective location. Thus, only the selected frames need be viewed in order to locate a desired segment, but each selected frame may be viewed for an extended time interval, equal to "nt.sub.D ".

Abstract: A drip irrigation emitter defining a flow control passageway having an inlet to communicate with a supply of pressurized water, and an outlet to communicate with a water discharge opening, includes an obstruction formation between the flow control passageway outlet and the water discharge opening effective to produce a relatively small obstruction to the flow in the direction from the flow control passageway outlet to the water discharge opening, and a relatively large obstruction to the flow in the reverse direction such as to reduce the possibility of the entry of external solid particles into the emitter via the water discharge opening.
