Patent number: 8348553Abstract: Disclosed is a manufactured three-dimensional convex-concave fairing with attached vortex generators, for hydraulic structures such as bridge piers and abutments, whose shape prevents the local scour problem around such hydraulic structures. The device is a conventionally made concrete or fiber-reinforced composite, or combination of both, vortex generator equipped hydrodynamic fairing that is fit or cast over an existing or new hydraulic structure around the base of the structure and above the footing. The vortex generators are positioned so as to energize decelerating near wall flow with higher-momentum outer layer flow. The result is a more steady, compact separation and wake and substantially mitigated scour inducing vortical flow.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2011Date of Patent: January 8, 2013Assignee: Applied University Research, Inc.Inventors: Roger L. Patent number: 8336250Abstract: An animal trap (especially for wild hogs) is circular in shape and is easily moved by a single individual and takes only minutes to unload and set up. The trap further includes triple offset walls to help keep all trapped animals in. In use, the trap is firmly secured to the ground by a chain and allows nothing to get out except turkeys which can fly out the escape hole in the top. It is easy, fast and fun to set the trap. A user only needs to tie the rope on the door and set the pins to engage the ground and suspend the door in the open position using the rope. A user then pours corn in and waits until the hogs come into the trap. When the wild hogs or other large animals in the trap root up the pins in the ground, the door locks shut.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2011Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Inventor: Harry R. Kelley

Patent number: 8322513Abstract: A loading head for use with food articles has a main conveyor adapted to convey a plurality of food articles, an indexing conveyor positioned beneath the main conveyor, and a transfer member positioned between the main conveyor and the indexing conveyor. The transfer member is adapted to transfer each food article from the main conveyor to the indexing conveyor. A buffering mechanism is adapted to move the transfer member between a first position and a variable second position. A pusher mechanism is associated with the indexing conveyor to raise and lower gates from an open position permitting food article transfer to a closed position prohibiting food article transfer. The pusher mechanism includes a cam operably associated with the gates to open and close the gates.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2011Date of Patent: December 4, 2012Assignee: F.R.
