  • Patent number: 5651401
Abstract: An apparatus for filling multiple receptacles with foodstuffs utilizing a tray having at least first and second apertures through the same. The first and second apertures each possess an entrance and an exit and a chamber within the tray body of a pre-determined volume. Each aperture is spaced from one another on the tray. A feed conduit is also utilized to transport foodstuffs from any one of multiple containers to the tray. The tray is reciprocated to permit alternate communication between the feed conduit and the entrances to the first and second apertures. A cover closes the exits of any one of the apertures at the same time the aperture chamber is being filled with a foodstuff. In addition, reciprocation of the tray removes the cover and permits the foodstuff to pass to a conduit which leads the foodstuff to a container.

  • Patent number: 5639366
Abstract: A solids concentrator for a liquid and solid mixture utilizing a first container including an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion has a transverse dimension that is larger than the transverse dimension of the lower portion. A second container fits within the first container and includes upper and lower portions that are configured to fit within the first container. The upper portion of the first and second containers forms a channel or chamber therebetween. Another chamber is formed between the lower portions of the first and second container, but is narrower across than the first chamber. The flowable liquid and solid mixture is introduced into the first chamber to induce a swirling flow to the second chamber and the inner space of the second container at the bottom of the concentrator. A solid-rich portion of the liquid solid mixture is removed from the lower portion of the inner space of the second chamber or the second chamber itself.

  • Patent number: 5622022
Abstract: An architectural truss having a connector utilizing first, second, third, and fourth plate structures which lie adjacent three chords. The first plate structure engages an outer first chord while the second plate structure engages the outer first chord and a central second chord. A third plate structure engages the central second chord and a third outer chord. A fourth plate structure engages the third outer chord. Each plate structure resists movement relative to an adjacent chord under shear stress. An interconnecting member engages and holds each of the plate structures. The central second chord may extend outwardly from the first and third chords at an angle to form a corner of a triangular structure constituting a portion of a truss.

  • Patent number: 5621163
Abstract: An apparatus for testing the flow of liquid resin through a solid porous material utilizing a tube of a certain cross-sectional size. The tube includes first and second openings and is intended to carry the liquid resin. A vessel is also employed, having an interior chamber and an opening for accommodating a portion of the tube within the chamber of the vessel. A reservoir for the resin is located within the chamber and communicates with the first opening of the tube within the chamber. Pressure means is exerted in the chamber to urge the liquid resin through the tube. A mass of the solid porous material is placed within the tube between the reservoir and the tube second openings. Penetration or flow during a set time period, through the material is measured as a distance relative to the position of the material located in the tube.

  • Patent number: 5609247
Abstract: A release mechanism for multiple containers forming a row between first and second portions utilizing a band of resilient material. The band extends about a portion of the periphery of each of the multiple containers and forms a closed loop about the entirety of the containers. The closed loop exerts a force on each of the multiple containers. A frangible element is formed along the loop. In addition, the release mechanism includes a connecting member located along the row between the first and second portions of the multiple containers. The connecting member includes a plurality of frangible elements linking the connecting member to the band in order to form a breakable collar about each of the multiple containers. A flange or tab is also included in the present invention for permitting the application of a pulling force on the connecting member to separate any selected number of frangible elements linking the connecting member to the band to free the containers.
