  • Patent number: 8343394
Abstract: Crystalline alumina particles are intimately mixed with a gaseous fuel, air and oxygen. The mixture is then ignited in a torch. Such blending of the powder with the combustible gas allows the alumina particles to be immediately heated to above their melting temperature and allows the particles to form into spheres. The spheres are then rapidly cooled to ambient temperature, providing high purity micron-sized polymorphic alumina spheres without the use of additives or special treatment.

  • Patent number: 8345609
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention involves a method for selecting an infrastructure mode wireless channel for a tier-2 wireless node of a plurality of wireless nodes forming a wireless mesh network. The method comprises a first operation of receiving information from at least one neighboring node. Then, the first wireless node determines if a collision has occurred with the at least one neighboring node, where the collision is an overlapping of wireless channels selected by the first node and the at least one neighboring node. If a collision has occurred, the first wireless node compares its network degree, iterative count, and MAC address (progressively in that order) with that of its neighboring node to determine which of the first wireless node or the at least one neighboring node is responsible for re-selecting a different wireless channel from a set of non-overlapping wireless channels that are available to the wireless mesh network. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8347298
Abstract: Disclosed is a distributed control method of cooperatively allowing a control strategy for satisfying a constraint on an aggregated resource and simultaneously achieving or maintaining a performance of a system to be determined in a real-time manner by any one of a plurality of entities which have the highest need for the resource at any given time, without providing a specified management entity. The proposed method or “card game scheme” of the present invention is designed to dynamically carry out a function of satisfying a constraint on an aggregate resource and simultaneously achieving or maintaining a performance of the entire system, based on a distributed control with high flexibility, wherein an “agent”, i.e., a software having a function of performing autonomous determination and control, is set in each of the entities, to allow the entities to dynamically take turns to perform a processing of determining a strategy for resource allocation.
