  • Patent number: 6965822
Abstract: A method of calibrating the control current startup threshold in a proportionally controlled drive system for a work vehicle is disclosed. To determine a current threshold value for use in the system a control current exhibiting a relatively low value is first applied to the system. Subsequently, the steps of repetitively increasing the control current to a control current start value at which system motion starts and decreasing the control current to a control current stop value at which system motion substantially stops are repetitively conducted. The resultant control current start values and control current stop values are stored in a memory. The stored control current start values and control current stop values are is then averaged to determine a control current threshold value for use in controlling the system.

  • Patent number: 6953397
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for adjusting the width of a sieve opening on combine harvesters. The aim of the invention is to be able to economically produce this device and to permit a quick installation of a new sieve or a quick re-installation of the previously used sieve, whereby enabling the previous width of the sieve opening to be immediately readjusted. The invention also aims to be able, while using the device, to adjust the width of the sieve opening on a preliminary sieve from an easily accessible location. To these ends, the lamellas of the sieve are adjusted by means of an adjusting rail, which is actuated by a transversal shaft and by an adjusting mechanism both of which being mounted in a positionally fixed manner on the sieve housing of the cleaning device. The transversal shaft, to which an upwardly oriented driver is attached, is located underneath the sieve.

  • Patent number: 6908378
Abstract: The extension has an elongate blade shape and is positionable in radially outwardly extending relation along a leading edge of a rotor inlet flight, the blade having a leading edge located forwardly of the leading edge of the flight so as to rotate in advance thereof. The leading edge preferably has a curved, swept back shape relative to the rotational direction, which gradually increases in slope in the radial outward direction, so as to facilitate smooth acceleration of the crop material in the radial outward direction. The extension has a rearwardly facing blade or crop flow surface oriented at an angle of attack less than the angle of attack of the associated flight, so as to be less blunt and to facilitate smooth crop material flow onto the flight. The extension shape generates a rearwardly directed air flow when rotated.

  • Patent number: 6908379
Abstract: A combine harvester has at its rear end separate chaff and crop residue discharge openings. A chopper is provided for cutting the crop residue into small pieces, and a chaff discharge device serves to disperse the chaff exiting from the chaff discharge opening. The chaff discharge device is movable between a first position, in which chaff can fall to the ground without passing through the chaff discharge device to lie in a string behind the combine harvester, and a second position, in which the chaff passes through the chaff discharge device and is dispersed laterally away from the combine harvester. The chaff discharge device is further movable to a third position in which chaff leaving the chaff discharge device is directed to enter the chopper through an opening that is different from the opening through which the crop residue is admitted into the chopper.
