Abstract: A cabinet maker's arch door or crown door marking gauge has side members attachable to a work table of a table saw or shaper. A spring band is held on the side members so that opposite sides of the band are perpendicular to the sides of a panel to be marked which is positioned between the side members. The band forms a symmetrical arch between the sde members which is marked on the panel. One side of the band is adjustably held by one side member so the length of the band between the side members, and thus the height of the arch between the side members can be varied. The side member are adjustably held on the support so the distance between the side members can be changed to permit marking panels of different widths.

Abstract: A soil sampler to be mounted on a vehicle such as a pick-up truck, has a frame for mounting on the vehicle and a vertical hydraulic cylinder connected at its upper end to the frame. A sample taking probe is connected to the rod of the cylinder which drives the probe vertically into the earth. A sample collecting receptacle is mounted on the frame for downward guiding movement with the probe to a position close to the earth. As the probe is retracted, the sample in the probe is extracted through an open side of the probe into the lowered receptacle. The receptacle is lifted during final retraction of the probe so that both the probe and receptacle are spaced sufficiently above the ground to move the vehicle to another sample taking location.

Abstract: A worm screw has two threaded portions of opposite hand cut on a single shaft, using a lathe. Several passes of the cutting tool are used to form each of these threaded portions, and in order to provide a compact and robust worm screw of this type the two threaded portions are separated by a groove having a depth shallower than that of the threads being cut and having a width at least equal to 15% of the greater axial pitch of the threaded portions.

Abstract: An instant coupling comprises a male element and a female element which are locked together by two teeth (19) supported by flexible strips (18), which are normally in the disengagement position but urged into the engagement position by the action of an axially slidable outer collar (12), which is itself maintained in said engagement position by annular elastic elements (20) interposed between the strips (18).

Abstract: The wash brush comprises a pan-shaped casing (1) provided with a tangential water nozzle (18), a coaxial bladed impeller (14, 16), and two concentric brushes (3, 4) of which the outer one (3) is fixed and the other (4) rotates, the impeller (14, 16) being mounted idly on the shaft (10) of the rotating brush (4) and being of cup shape to form a seat which faces the roof of the casing (1) and contains an idle double reduction gear (23) in the form of two ring gears of different diameter which engage with toothing (27) provided on the hub (13) of the impeller (14, 16) and with a gear wheel (22) keyed on to the shaft (10) of the rotating brush (4).

Abstract: The brush holder for an electric machine, which may be either a motor or a generator, and comprises a stator and a rotor provided with a collector ring against which there bears at least one electrically conductive carbon brush, in a housing of the brush holder orientated substantially radially in the stator of the machine. Elastic are between the brush and a bearing surface formed by the end plate of the brush holder housing, said elastic being capable of pressing the brush against the collector ring. The bearing surface for the elastic is situated radially outwardly of the stator beyond the internal surface of the peripheral wall of the electrical machine.

Abstract: An electric oyster knife has a case (1), a blade holder (12) with a blade (13) slidably longitudinally between outer and inner positions with respect to the case, an electromagnet (2) mounted in the case for oscillating the blade holder between its two positions. An armature (7) is pivotally mounted in the case. The armature has a cam surface (11) for driving the blade holder toward its outer position, in a first position of the armature, and for allowing the blade holder to move to its inner position, in a second position of the armature.

Abstract: A bracelet or wrist watch clasp which is completely hidden when closed. Studs having enlarged heads project from a central body which engages the wrist. Side legs are hinged to each end of a central body to swing to a closed position on the body. Each let has an annular radially elastic element retained in the thickness of its wall and positioned to receive and latch on a stud as the legs are swung to the closed position. Ends of the bracelet or watch band are connected to the free ends of the legs.

Abstract: An enclosure 1 has a measurably variable volume chamber 2, a control for controlling the temperature of the fluid contained therein and apparatus for measuring the pressure of the fluid. The chamber is selectively connectable, on the one hand, to a filling device 6, for introducing the sample, and on the other hand to a fluid extraction apparatus 7, 8. The enclosure 1 is selectively connectable to a tubular loop 9 having a circulation pump 10 and apparatus 11 for measuring the density of the sample of circulating fluid. By varying the volume of chamber 2, the thermodynamic characteristics of monophase and diphase fluids can be accurately determined. The apparatus is especially useful for the study of fluid of hydrocarbon deposits.

Abstract: An instant coupling comprises a male element (9) and a female element (1) which comprises a chamber (4) containing a valve (5) provided with a first sealing surface (10) which, when pressurized water is present, rests against a seat (12) and shuts-off water delivery when the male element (9) is not inserted, and a second sealing surface (11) below the first and arranged to rest against a respective seat (13) under the action of any momentary negative pressure arising in the water feed hose, in order to prevent undesirable fluids being drawn in when the male element is inserted.

Abstract: A key comprises a key body provided with at least one translatably movable plunger able to be displaced in a housing provided in the key, the plunger being intended to co-operate with a positioning member provided in the recess of a rotor so as to project from its recess and to push a movable pin of the rotor into a position permitting rotation of the barrel rotor relative to the stator. The key comprises in its head a constricted zone, and the recess of the movable plunger is provided in this constricted zone.

Abstract: This invention relates to a display box of the kind comprising a part of an opaque material such as cardboard and an opening overlapping or straddling at least one edge of the box and which is shut off by a sheet of a plastics material. According to the invention the sheet is formed from a rigid plastics material. The sheet may be formed by a single sheet and have two preparatory or incipient folds produced by pre-scoring or pre-grooving along the lines corresponding to the edges which are to be produced, the edges of the plastics sheet having notches at the extremities of each incipient fold. The invention also provides a method of and apparatus for manufacturing the box.

Abstract: An insulating contact carrier block is immobilized and locked in a corresding cavity of an electrical connector casing by at least one, and preferably two elastic clips. The clips are disposed respectively between the ends of the contact carrier block and the respective ends of the cavity of the casing. Each clip is of U shape, has a center web for hooking the clip on the adjacent end wall of the casing cavity, and legs projecting in the same direction from the ends of the web, straddle and elastically engage the sides of the block. An elastic tab on the web engages the adjacent end of the insulating carrier block during insertion of the block into the cavity, and snaps over a stop shoulder on the block to lock the block in its seated position in the cavity. Free ends of the legs of the clip engage stepped shoulders on the cavity side walls to prevent unhooking of the web from the end wall of the cavity.

Abstract: A module for the protection of multiwire lines against overvoltages comprises a casing formed by a receptable and a terminal carrier plate. The terminal carrier plate comprises a pair of terminals for each wire of the multiwire line, and an earth terminal. Overvoltage diverters are connected to said wires and each have a first electrode soldered to a U link which connects, the two terminals of each pair of terminals, and a second electrode soldered to a transverse bar itself soldered to an extension of the earth terminal. The subassembly connected to the terminal carrier plate is disposed within the receptacle and is potted in a plastic potting substance. This module may be used for the protection of telephone lines.

Abstract: Blood products and other substances colored by tetrapyrrole compounds such as porphyrins or metalloporphyrins, in an aqueous solution, are decolored by contacting the aqueous solution with an adsorbent selected from among alumina, magnesia, and magnesium silicate, and the resulting colorless solution is then collected. The solution to be decolored can be adjusted to a pH of 2 to 6, and can be at a temperature in the range of 0.degree. to 60.degree. C., but is usually decolored at ambient temperature.

Abstract: An interchangeable variable aperture lens can be used as an automatic lens with a camera body using digital signal control and with a camera body using analog signal control, and as a manual lens. The lens has both digital and analogue circuits for providing signals, to different camera bodies, indicative of the full open and full closed values of the lens diaphragm. Digital and analogue signal contacts are so positioned on the lens that the coacting contacts of different camera bodies are engaged when the lens is mounted on the different bodies, provided that the mechanical mount is the same.

Abstract: The device comprises automatic unlocking means for a fastening member connected to the belt and actuating means for the unlocking which are sensitive to a parameter of the state of a movable structure in which the safety belt is installed. The automatic unlocking means comprise means for automatically exerting a force against elastic means on a triggering device. The means for automatically exerting a force comprise a metallic element capable of exerting a force when heated, and heating means for this metallic element.

Abstract: A feed device for a two-phase fluid pump enabling the pump to be supplied with a two-phase fluid having characteristics, especially the volumetric ratio of the gaseous phase to the liquid phase, compatible with the operating characteristics of the pump. The device has a main pipe (10a) and a plurality of auxiliary pipes (10b, . . . 10i) parallel to the main pipe. Each of the pipes can be connected to an upstream supply line of two-phase fluid, and to the downstream pump (6), each of the pipes having an isolation and flow regulating gate (11a, . . . 11i) at its upstream inlet and an isolation and flow regulating gate (12a, . . . 12i) at its downstream outlet, each of the pipes also having means (16a, . . . 16i; 17a; 17i) for introducing a carrier liquid, such as water.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for improving the nature of soil in a salty land not suitable for agriculture by forming a moisture barrier in the soil with formation of a water-impermeable layer of soil underground. The method comprises sprinkling a water-soluble polymer, e.g. a copolymer of acrylic acid, or polymer blend including, for example, polyacrylic acid, capable of being insolubilized by interacting with the salt, preferably, in an aqueous solution over the salty land so that a water-impermeable layer underground is formed by the insolubilized polymer together with the soil particles.
