  • Patent number: 8142753
Abstract: A large scale process for preparing fumed silica with consistent product parameters wherein a silica precursor compound is fed to a burner at ?100 Kg/h along with a combusting gas at ?300 m3/h and a combustible gas at ?100 m3/h, with a nozzle gas velocity between 10 and 200 m/s, and a radially symmetrical, homogenous gas velocity and gas temperature.

  • Patent number: 7084841
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for the presentation of three-dimensional images, where light beams with appropriate intensity and optionally with appropriate color are projected in different viewing directions and thereby creating a three-dimensional image. The light beams are created with a light emitting surface (10) comprising cyclically addressable light sources (S). The surface (10) is positioned behind a screen (20) comprising pixels (P) with a controllable light transmission or reflection. The light beams emitted from different light sources (S) illuminate the individual pixels (P) from different directions. According to the invention, the distance between the light sources (S) is larger than the distance between the pixels (P), and the light sources (S) are positioned so much away from the pixels so that the number of pixels (P) illuminated by one light source (S) is greater than the number of light sources illuminating one pixel (P).

  • Patent number: 6987769
Abstract: Growth of a distributed communication system is facilitated through dynamic addition of routing elements. A new routing element may be added to a network of routing elements by first establishing a connection between the new routing element and an existing routing element in the network. The connection may be either wireless or wireline. At least one address is assigned to the new routing element. Each assigned address comes from a pool of addresses maintained at the existing routing element. At least one pool of addresses is issued to the new routing element, permitting the new routing element to dynamically add yet another new routing element to the network of routing elements.

  • Patent number: 6818884
Abstract: An optoelectronic sensor includes optoelectronic converter elements having photosensitive surfaces arranged in a one or two dimensional array. A transparent cover protects the photosensitive surfaces of the optoelectronic converter elements. At least one portion of the transparent cover is shaped to include a light deflecting element such as a prism which enables the optoelectronic converter elements to be exposed to light beams coming from different directions.

  • Patent number: 5960519
Abstract: A vehicle rear lift gate hinge and counterbalance assembly (22) includes a pair of laterally spaced hinges (24) and a counterbalance (25) including a torque rod (26) for pivotally supporting and counterbalancing a vehicle rear lift gate (18) for movement between open and closed positions with respect to a rear opening (14). Each hinge (24) includes a vehicle mounted hinge member (28) and a gate mounted hinge member (30) pivotally connected to each other. The torque rod (26) has a unitary construction including a central portion (38) ends (40) that include U-shaped bight portions (42) respectively received between laterally spaced portions (34) of one of the hinge members and engageable with an engagement portion (36) of the other hinge member to provide counterbalancing adjacent the closed position of the lift gate (18).

  • Patent number: 5931003
Abstract: A method and system for electronically controlling the location of the formation of ice within a closed loop water circulating unit and efficiently harvesting ice includes a method and system for making ice using supercooled water. When a desired degree of supercooling is reached in the closed loop water circulating unit, a pump associated with the ice-making machine is stopped so as to initiate ice seeding on the ice mold. After the pump is restarted, the supercooled water flows over the seeded molds to rapidly form ice on the ice molds. The completion of ice formation in the mold is sensed by reservoir water temperature, water level, timing or other inputs to enable a controller to automatically control a harvest cycle timely. A method and system is also provided for improving the clarity of the ice.
