Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a diaper, containing cuffs with a skin care composition disposed thereon. The skin care composition disposed on the cuffs is transferable to the wearer's skin by normal contact and/or wearer motion and/or body heat. The skin care compositions disclosed in the present invention are selected to maintain and/or improve the skin health of the wearer upon transfer during use, for example, to provide a skin protective barrier or a therapeutic benefit; to minimize the abrasion between the cuffs and skin in the area where the cuffs contact the wearer's skin, resulting in less skin irritation; to improve BM clean up on the skin, or to improve the barrier properties of the cuffs.

Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a diaper, containing leg cuffs coated with a lotion composition is disclosed. The lotions disclosed in the present invention minimize the abrasion between the cuffs and skin in the area where the cuffs contact the wearer's skin, resulting in less skin irritation. The lotion compositions also reduce the adherence of BM to the skin of the wearer, thereby improving the ease of BM clean up. The lotion composition comprises a plastic or fluid emollient such as mineral oil or petrolatum, an immobilizing agent such as a fatty alcohol or paraffin wax to immobilize the emollient on the surface of the diaper leg cuffs, and optionally a hydrophilic surfactant to improve the processability and/or stability of the lotion compositions. Because the emollient is substantially immobilized on the surface of the leg cuff, less lotion is required to impart the desired therapeutic or protective lotion coating benefits.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an article having a skin care composition disposed on at least a portion of the article. The skin care composition is a breathable, barrier protectant which can be immobilized on the article and is transferable to the wearer's skin via contact, normal wearer motion and/or body heat. Particularly, the skin care composition should have a water vapor transmission rate of at least about 0.1 gm/m.sup.2 /hr and a barrier property of at least about -25 on Hunter b scale, as measured by a Methylene Blue Dye Method.

Abstract: Disclosed are articles useful in cleansing, and particularly wet-like cleansing wipes, which are dry until used, where fluid is released from the article. These articles comprise:a. a carrier comprising a cellulosic fibrous structure having at least a first region of relatively high basis weight that comprises an essentially continuous network and a second region of a plurality of mutually discrete regions of relatively low basis weight which are circumscribed by the high basis weight first region; andb. an emulsion applied to the carrier, where the emulsion provides fluid for cleaning when shear forces are applied to the article.The first and second regions of the cellulosic fibrous structure are disposed in a nonrandom, repeating pattern. The articles offer a number of significant advantages over prior cleaning products when in the form of wet-like cleansing wipes such as those used for cleaning of hardsurfaces (e.g., floors, countertops, sinks, bathtubs, toilets, and the like).

Abstract: Disclosed are articles useful in cleansing, and particularly wet-like cleansing wipes and toilet tissue. These articles are essentially dry to the touch prior to use, but deliver liquid when subjected to in-use shear and compressive forces. In one aspect, the articles of the present invention comprise a carrier and an emulsion applied to the carrier, the emulsion comprising a continuous external nonpolar phase and an internal polar phase dispersed in the external nonpolar phase, wherein the article is capable of retaining fluid prior to use. In another aspect, the emulsion-treated articles exhibit improved ability to release fluid when subjected to in-use pressures. The articles of the present invention offer a number of significant advantages over prior cleaning products when in the form of wet-like cleansing wipes such as those used for cleaning of hardsurfaces (e.g., floors, countertops, sinks, bathtubs, toilets, and the like) and wet-like toilet tissue.

Abstract: The present invention relates to absorbent articles which provide improved protection against skin overhydration. A particularly preferred embodiment of an absorbent article of the present invention comprises a body contacting surface having a skin care composition thereon that, when at least a portion of the composition is transferred to a wearer's skin by normal body motion or body heat, the material is effective in providing a skin condition benefit and a liquid impermeable, breathable backsheet having a mass vapor transmission rate value (MVTR) of at least about 1300 g/m.sup.2 /24 hr and an absorbent core having a post acquisition collagen rewet method value (PACORM) with a PACORM:MVTR ratio is less than 0.05 mg/(g/m.sup.2 /24 hr).

Abstract: An absorbent article is disclosed for absorbing bodily fluids which has incorporated therein an odor control material for decreasing bodily odor which material comprises a zeolite having an average particle size (distribution by weight in sieve analysis) of at least 200 um. The zeolite may optionally be mixed with an absorbent gelling material and/or activated carbon.

Abstract: The present invention provides a fluid previous fibrous, preferably nonwoven, web having a first surface and a second surface. The web comprises a hydrophilic nonwoven web comprising a plurality of individual, preferably whitened, brightened, and/or opacified, fibers associated with one another. The web includes a plurality of surface energy gradients defined by the boundaries of discontinuous, spaced regions of the web which are located on the first surface which exhibit a different surface energy than an adjacent portion of the web. The regions comprise depositions of a preferably whitened, brightened, and/or opacified low surface energy material randomly distributed over the first surface. In a preferred embodiment, the nonwoven web is formed of shaped fibers of substantially non-circular cross-section, preferably a trilobial or delta cross-section, which include whitening, brightening, and opacifying agents within the fiber material.
