  • Patent number: 4633229
Abstract: Electronic outdoor warning siren systems which include a plurality of speakers arranged in one or more vertically spaced circular arrays of circumferentially spaced vertically oriented speakers to achieve substantially uniform coverage in all radial directions in a horizontal plane, and utilizing frequency variations in adjacent speakers in a given horizontal plane to minimize interference between sound signals from adjacent speakers thereby permitting closer spacing of speakers than would otherwise be feasible and providing uniform omni-directional sound propagation. The same frequency variations are also employed with a plurality of speakers oriented in the same direction and rotated through 360.degree. to accomplish the same result of minimal interference and more uniform sound propagation.

  • Patent number: 4627810
Abstract: An injection mold utilizes a collapsible core portion which includes a core portion and a mold cavity portion. A core base is provided as part of the core portion. A first mold ring is positioned about the core base and longitudinally movable to define a first annular parting line between the core base and first mold ring. The first mold ring carries outer core members and controls their longitudinal positioning along the core base while permitting them to move radially inwardly and outwardly between molding and collapsed positions. A second mold ring is carried on the core and includes stripper ring means, the second mold ring being longitudinally movable to define a second annular parting line with the first mold ring. The second mold ring also forms a third, annular parting line with the mold cavity portion. Means are provided for relatively moving the core base, mold cavity portion, and first and second mold rings in a longitudinal direction relative to each other and the mold cavity portion.

  • Patent number: 4613797
Abstract: A flash strobe power supply adapted for controlling alternately the energization of a pair of flash lamps includes a trigger timing device for generating a series of positive pulses and a series of negative pulses spaced in time from the positive pulses by a predetermined interval. First and second energy storage devices are provided for repeatedly charging incrementally during successive charging cycles and for storing a charge to be applied to respective first and second flash lamps. An inverter oscillator circuit includes a pulse width modulator and a transformer for generating a quasi-squarewave signal whose frequency is greater than the frequency of the positive and negative pulses to control the incremental charging of the energy storage devices. First and second switching devices deliver when conductive the charge stored in the first and second energy storage devices to their respective first and second flash lamps.

  • Patent number: 4610919
Abstract: Fibrous padding in which the fibers are held together by a binder. The binder comprises a mixture of (a) an R.F. sealable dried residue of a thermoplastic latex emulsion, and (b) an R.F. sealable plastic powder of polyester, polyamide, or mixtures thereof which melt in a narrower temperature range than the latex emulsion residue. Such fibrous padding is capable of R.F. sealing with better adhesion to loose weave knit fabrics which are uncoated with adhesive, and the resulting bond exhibits improved heat stability.

  • Patent number: 4587427
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the concentration of a predetermined energy absorbing compound in a breath sample even in the presence of other unknown energy absorbing compounds. Infrared energy of three wavelengths are passed through the collected sample. The first wavelength of infrared energy, 3.95 microns for example, is selected to be insensitive to absorption by both the predetermined energy absorbing compound such as ethanol and the unknown energy absorbing compounds such as acetone and water vapor. The second wavelength of infrared energy, 3.48 microns for example, is selected to be significantly absorbed by ethanol. The third wavelength of infrared energy, 3.39 microns for example, is selected to be significantly absorbed by acetone and water vapor.
