Abstract: A beauty cap has a plurality of sponge rollers, and a strip of material simulating hair wrapped around each roller and attached to the cap to simulate a user having her hair wrapped in curlers.
Abstract: A straddle-cutting device for machining a pair of parallel surfaces on a rotating workpiece in a single cut as the cutting tool is advanced over the workpiece. Apparatus is provided for biasing the cutting tools using a stack of spring washers and a pneumatic power cylinder.
Abstract: A chair cover removably mounted on a chair. The cover has a pair of overlapping skirts between the chair's front legs, forming a vertical slit permitting a chair occupant to place his foot between the skirts and beneath the chair seat.
Abstract: A computer program for correlating coatings' material usage and cost impact with coatings ranges evaluated against an industry Cpk standard. Optimum range values are selected from the process and/or coatings applicators' manufacturer guidelines.
Abstract: A pair of connector elements, one stapled, screwed or otherwise fastened to a countertop and the other stapled, screwed or otherwise fastened to the lower edge of a backsplash are snapped together to mount the backsplash in an upright position along the rear edge of the countertop.
Abstract: A milling cutter having a pair of clamping components mounted on a tool holder to form a slot for receiving a cutting insert. One of the clamping components forms an integral extension of the tool holder's shank. The two clamping components are fastened together by threaded fasteners. The insert is fastened to the clamping components by a second threaded fastener received in through-holes in the two components and a central opening in the cutting insert.
Abstract: A child's handrail assembly is mounted beneath another handrail and comprises three 6? dual pull-lock extension rods; a plurality of durable lightweight 1? diameter rods, which can be adjusted to fit any size handrail and connected together by an interlocking coupling. Each dual pull-lock extension rod includes an upper strap that is wrapped around the existing handrail and a lower strap that is wrapped around the lower rods to suspend the lower rods beneath the existing handrail and form a child's handrail.
Abstract: A beach cart having a main compartment with a front opening. A pair of doors hingedly connected to the compartment may be closed to block the opening or opened to a position in which they cooperate with a pair of wide wheels to support the compartment in an upright position. The cart is adapted to support various accessories such as an umbrella, a chair, and cooler cups.
Abstract: A milling tool holder having a spindle with a tapered opening and a tool holder having a tapered shank that fits into the spindle opening. The narrow end of the shank has a split collar. The spindle is joined to the tool holder by inserting the shank into the tapered opening and drawing the two components together using a differential screw. When the differential screw is turned in one direction, the two components are drawn together, and when turned in the opposite direction, the two components are separated. As the shank bottoms in the tapered opening, an annular enlargement on the differential screw expands the split collar of the shank to tightly seat the shank in the spindle.
Abstract: A milling tool holder axially having a shank with a tapered female opening, and a tool holder having a tapered male end that fits into the female opening. The narrow end of the male end has a bore. A plug having a threaded opening is inserted in the bore in the tool holder to align the threaded opening to receive the threaded end of a draw screw. The draw screw is turned to draw the tool holder and the shank together. When the draw screw is turned in one direction, the two components are drawn together, and when turned in the opposite direction the two components may be separated. A camming plug in the narrow end of the tool holder expands the outer surface of the tool holder to wedge the male end in the female opening.
Abstract: A golf club practice swing mat for improving a golfer's backstroke and power stroke includes a grass mat on which a practice ball is mounted. An anchoring mat is mounted on the same ground surface as the grass mat and fixed with respect to the ground surface. An elastic band connects the grass mat to the anchoring mat in such a manner that when a user engages the grass mat with a golf club, the grass mat moves in the direction of the golf club swing, and then returns to its initial position. The two mats are folded together for transport.
Abstract: The present invention is a device (18) and method for applying posteriorly directed pressure to a patient's upper posterior tooth, and anteriorly directed pressure to the lower teeth and lower jaw (50). The device includes a tooth attachment (22) fixed to a lower posterior tooth. A mounting base (20) is connected to the tooth attachment, and serves to mount a bumper unit (62), which extends from the lower posterior tooth to the upper posterior tooth. The bumper unit includes a bite bumper (32), for contacting the upper tooth. In the patient's retruded or uncorrected jaw position, the obstruction surface (38) of the bite bumper strikes the occlusal surface (41) of the upper posterior tooth, obstructing full closure of the jaws. Because this obstruction causes discomfort to the patient, the lower jaw is protruded into the forward or corrected jaw position. During protrusion, the bite bumper slides forwardly and upwardly into the adjacent opening (54) immediately anterior to the upper posterior tooth.
Abstract: A skateboard axle assembly includes a base attached to the underside of a skateboard, and a hanger which supports the axle. The hanger is connected to the base by a bolt and two nylon washers that permit a slight motion of the axle with respect to the base when the skateboard user makes a turn. In addition a small stud mounted on the hanger screws into the base an adjusted depth to adjust the clearance between the wheels and the skateboard.
Abstract: A bowstring release aid has a string loop. The release aid is mounted on a bowstring and drawn to an arrow release position by a hand-held string release device. The hand-held release device releases the string loop so that both the bowstring with the release aid propels the arrow.
Abstract: An articulated headrestraint system for a vehicle seat permits the user to adjust the headrest vertically, and to adjust the headrest either forwardly by using a pushbuttom mechanism, or rearwardly with respect to the top of the seat.
Abstract: A weight-lifter bench is equipped with a removable body support pad having a multiplicity of body support cavities in the pad upper surface. These cavities mate with rear surfaces of the person's head and torso when the person is in a lithotomy position, e.g. when the person is performing a weight-lifting activity using the bench. The cavity surfaces conform to the body surface contours, such that essentially the entire rear surface of the person's torso is in contact with the pad. The pad provides a comfortable support surface, and an enhanced body support action that tends to minimize the potential risk for injury or fatigue.
