  • Patent number: 5629029
Abstract: The plastic substrate portion of the part is formed by a first injection of plastic into a mold, so as to adhere to an overlying sheet of coverstock material. A portion of the coverstock is not initially adhered to the substrate. A second injection of plastic forms the undecorated portion of the part, and bonds to the substrate portion to form a unitary plastic panel. In the course of contacting the substrate portion, the plastic from the second injection folds and hides the non-adhered portion of the cover stock, thereby forming a neat, clean split line.

  • Patent number: 5628360
Abstract: An arrangement is provided in an air preheater for mounting and adjusting the axial seal plates in relation to the rotor using a reduced number of adjustable mountings and replacing the remaining adjustable mountings with adjustable compression stops. These adjustable compression stops engage but require no attachment to the axial seal plates. This reduces the work necessary in the limited space between the air preheater housing and the axial seal plates thereby reducing costs and facilitating installation and replacement.

  • Patent number: 5626889
Abstract: The single tapered die mount employs a radially inner surface at an angle to the axis of rotation of the die mount, die and die holder. The radially inner surface of the die mount acts on an annular shoulder of the die to support and position the die in the die holder. The die mount of the invention is located between the radially outer surface of the die and the extended lip of the die housing. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the radially inner surface of the die mount in contact with the radially outer surface of the die shoulder has an angle of a modified Morse taper. The radially outer surface of the die shoulder is machined to a matching angle.

  • Patent number: 5626184
Abstract: A swing-arm sootblower for a rotary regenerative air preheater is mounted to sweep across the air preheater rotor at a constant speed or angular velocity. A constant speed motor is attached through a speed reducer to a drive sprocket. A chain drive turns driven sprocket which is connected to the rotatable mounting shaft for the sootblower lance or arm. Limit switches are tripped at the ends of the arc of travel of the lance by a trip arm mounted on the drive sprocket to turn the motor off and to close a valve for the sootblowing medium. The speed of the lance can be adjusted in general or at particular points in the art of travel.

  • Patent number: 5622933
Abstract: The present invention teaches multiple branch peptide constructions (MBPCs) formed from a core matrix to which is attached peptides derived from the V3 loop of the envelope glycoprotein of HIV-1, and including the amino acid sequence GPGR (SEQ ID NO: 5), preferably in the form GPGRAF, but which peptides preferably are free of the amino acid sequences IGPGR (SEQ ID NO: 1) or IXXGPGR (SEQ ID NO: 3), where X is an amino acid residue, and the use of such MBPCs as a therapy against HIV. The MBPCs prevent virus/cell infection and cell-to-cell virus transmission between CD4.sup.+ cells and HIV without hindering the immunogenic role of the CD4.sup.+ cells. Moreover, the MBPCs are effective in blockading both CD4 receptors on lymphocytes and macrophages and GalCer receptors on colon epithelial cells. These MBPCs are not immunogenic nor toxic at doses of their intended use (<[10.sup.-3 M]), thus allowing for them to be used therapeutically.

In another embodiment, side edge portions of the plate are received in longitudinally extending grooves in the interior surface of each of the side walls. A driver and a pusher provide means for advancing an end of the stick of butter out of the opening for slicing. The pusher comprises a pusher member disposed in the container and a nut or threaded sleeve disposed exteriorly to the container. The driver comprises a drive rod which is rotatably mounted to the top wall of the container and a knurled knob which is rotatably mounted to the end wall of the container. One end of the drive rod extends into a cavity in the knob.

  • Patent number: 5622360
Abstract: A feeder station for apparatus for collating printed sheets includes a mechanism for imparting motion to individual sheets prior to the time the sheets are engaged by a pusher mechanism which propels the stack of collated sheets being formed along a conveyor. The mechanism for imparting motion to the individual sheets in the feeder station contacts the sheets within a region which is directly aligned with the path the engaged portion of the sheet travels in moving from a feed magazine to the feeder station under the influence of a gripper device, the sheet thus being transferred directly from the gripper device into contact with the motion imparting mechanism.
