  • Patent number: 5113552
Abstract: A releasable fastening element for tying, bundling and fastening articles having at least one head element, including a longitudinally extending shaft with a leg extending from one end thereof to form a hook for engaging the material to be bound. The fastening element includes an elastic strap which is connected to the other end of the shaft. The elastic strap has locking elements placed at predetermined points along its length for individually and removably connecting the strap to a locking member. The locking member, which is located on the shaft, is formed by two oppositely aligned insertion grooves which are arranged parallel and adjacent to the shaft. The locking elements, which are wider than the grooves, are restricted from passing through the locking device, thus forming a loop in the strap for engaging the material to be bound. The locking member can also be formed as a sleeve with open ends mounted on the shaft parallel to the longitudinal direction thereof.

  • Patent number: 5110428
Abstract: Semiconductor wafers, in particular, silicon wafers, with differently poled front and rear sides and high geometrical quality can be fabricated by double-sided polishing if the wafer surfaces are differently polarized during the polishing process. This can be achieved in a simple fashion, in that during polishing, an electric field is set up between the upper and lower polishing plates. This can be accomplished by providing the upper polishing plate between the plate surface and the polishing cloth with a thin conductive layer insulated with respect thereto, on which a voltage can be impressed, while both polishing plates are grounded to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5105522
Abstract: To make a friction ring which is intended to be used in clutches or brakes and has a sinter-bonded friction facing, an annular blank is blanked from flat sheet metal and is provided with a sinter-bonded friction facing. Thereafter the blank provided with the sintered friction facing is shaped to form a conical or cylindrical friction ring and grooves distributed around the periphery of the friction facing are embossed into the friction facing at the same time. In order to ensure that that shaping operation will result in an adequate dimensional accuracy, the operation to emboss the grooves into the friction facing is carried out in such a manner that the backing ring is similarly embossed.
