Abstract: A tracking device is provided. A position determiner is configured to determine a position of the tracking device. The tracking device has first and second operating modes, the first operating mode being in response to at least the absence of a data communications link with an external wireless node, the second operating mode being in response to at least the presence of communication with an external wireless node. In the first operating mode, the tracking device periodically determines its position from the position determiner and maintains a position history of the tracking device. In the second operating mode, the tracking device reduces the operations of the position determiner relative to the first operating mode. In association with the tracking device transitioning from the first operating mode to the second operating mode, the tracking device wirelessly transmits the position history.

Abstract: An exchange system for facilitating the purchase of products is described. The system is coupled, in one embodiment, to a communications link. Potential product purchasers and sellers may access the exchange system via the network, and submit offers and/or pricing requests to such system. In response to the requests, the system processor retrieves the stored data from the respective databases, and causes such data to be transmitted to the local site for display. The exchange systems also executes certain functions in response to commands and data transmitted from buyer sites, seller sites and institution sites.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved method for the specific production of unsaturated ?-3 fatty acids and a method for the production of triglycerides having an increased content of unsaturated fatty acids, in particular ?-3 fatty acids having more than three double bonds. The invention relates to the production of a transgenic organism, preferably a transgenic plant or a transgenic microorganism, having an increased content of fatty acids, oils or lipids having ?6 double bonds due to the expression of a ?6-desaturase from Primulaceae. The invention additionally relates to expression cassettes containing a nucleic acid sequence, a vector and organisms containing at least one nucleic acid sequence or an expression cassette. The invention further relates to unsaturated fatty acids and triglycerides having an increased content of unsaturated fatty acids and use thereof.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of increasing the resistance to one or more penetrating pathogen(s) in a monocotyledonous or dicotyledonous plant or a part of a plant, for example in an organ, tissue, a cell or a part of a plant cell, for example in an organell, wherein a DNA sequence which codes for an armadillo repeat ARM1 protein and which mediates an increased pathogen resistance, preferably an increased resistance to fungal pathogens, is increased into, and expressed in, the plant or plant cell; or wherein an endogenous DNA sequence which codes for an armadillo repeat ARM1 protein and which mediates an increased pathogen resistance, preferably an increased resistance to fungal pathogens, is increased in the plant or plant cell in comparison with the original, or wild-type, plant, or wherein the endogenous gene sequence or preferably the 5?-untranslated region (5?UTR) is modified in comparison with the original sequence.

Abstract: The invention is a system for displaying objects within an interactive game program, in which, the objects can be added during the game program creation and afterwards. Additionally, a component within the game program itself updates these objects and communicates with a centralized server that manages and controls the objects through a number of utilities. One embodiment of the invention is a system providing dynamically changing advertisements within interactive video games. Additionally, a centralized server communicates with an internal Ad Engine to update interactive game ads without impeding on the game performance or affect the game play in any unintended way. Furthermore, the invention provides various management suites for interactive game program developers, game program publishers, and advertisers to update and manage the advertising objects within the game program.
Abstract: The present invention refers to a red-dyeing acid dye mixture comprising a dye of the formula (I) and at least one dye of the formula (II) a process for its manufacturing and a process for dyeing and printing of natural or synthetic polyamide fiber material in which it used.
Abstract: Low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) cermet compositions of this invention generally comprise a hard phase material and a ductile phase formed from a binder alloy, wherein the binder alloy is specially designed having a CTE that is closely matched to the hard phase material. Hard phase materials used to form low CTE compositions of this invention are selected from the group of carbides consisting of W, Ti, Mo, Nb, V, Si, Hf, Ta, and Cr carbides. The binder alloy is formed from a mixture of metals selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Fe, W, Mo, Ti, Ta, V, Nb, C, B, Cr, and Mn. In a preferred embodiment, low CTE compositions comprises WC as the hard phase material, and a ductile phase binder alloy formed from a mixture of Fe, Co, and Ni.

Abstract: Processes comprising: providing a dehydrogenatable compound; and subjecting the dehydrogenatable compound to a dehydrogenation reaction at a temperature of from 150 to 400° C., in the presence of oxygen, and at a temperature profile of the dehydrogenation reaction which does not differ substantially from the temperature profile of the dehydrogenation reaction in the absence of oxygen under otherwise identical conditions.
Abstract: The present invention is a mechanical element, commonly referred to as a “Jack Spring” that is based upon the concept of adding and subtracting coils from a spring. In particular, with the method and apparatus of the present invention, by changing the number of coils in a spring, the actual or intrinsic stiffness of the spring is structurally changed. A very simple and practical method is used to adjust the number of coils. The Jack Spring actuator of the present invention is based upon adjusting the effective structure of a spring.
Abstract: An information recording medium in which bottoms of a guide groove and a pit array formed on a disc substrate are allocated on a same flat plane and shaped in flat. Further, in a transition area from a pit array to a guide groove or from a guide groove to a pit array, the information recording medium is provided with an intermediate area composed of a pit array of which height changes from a height between a bottom and a side of a groove to another height between the bottom and a side of the pit array.
Abstract: The present invention relates to partly conjugated spirobifluorene polymers which are linked in the polymer via both spiro molecule halves. The materials according to the invention display a purer emission color and a longer life than materials according to the prior art and are therefore better suited for use in polymeric organic light-emitting diodes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the preparation of dronabinol ((6aR-trans)-6a,7,8,10a-tetrahydro-6,6,9-trimethyl-3-pentyl-6H-dibenzo[b,d]pyran-1-ol, ?9-tetrahydrocannabinol (?9-THC)) from cannabidiol (CBD) by cyclization of cannabidiol (CBD) (2-[1R-3-methyl-6-(1-methylethenyl)-2-cyclohexene-1-yl]-5-pentyl-1,3-benzoldiol) to ?9-THC. The method according to the present invention is characterized in that cannabidiol (CBD) (B) is present in an organic solvent and cyclized to ?9-THC in the presence of a molecular sieve while being heated. It was found out that, in the method of the present invention, the molecular sieve not only has the previously mentioned drying properties, but also exhibits strong catalytic properties which are important in this reaction. Normally, cyclizations carried out in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst only are distinctly slower and the ?9-THC yield is lower than in cyclizations carried out in the present of a molecular sieve.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for isolating constituents from organic material, comprising the following process steps: a) freeze-drying of the organic material; b) extracting the constituents with a polar solvent or solvent mixture (A) and an organic solvent or solvent mixture (B), it being possible for the extracts of the extraction with (A) and (B) to form one phase; c) combining the extracts (A) and (B) to give one phase; and d) carrying out an esterification/transesterification in the unpolar phase with an alcohol, the esterification/transesterification being carried out in the presence of a volatile acid; the process being a high-throughput process.
