  • Patent number: 5901373
Abstract: An energy expenditure garment includes at least a portion of the garment made from multilayer construction which has an inner layer of hydrophobic material to direct moisture away from the skin with an intermediate layer of hydrophilic material to store the moisture. An outer layer of non-porous and non-moisture permeable material is provided outwardly of the storage layer to act as a barrier or wall for preventing evaporation of the moisture stored in the intermediate layer. Preferably, a moisture vapor transmission membrane is provided between the hydrophobic inner layer and the hydrophilic storage layer to provide one way flow of the moisture to the storage layer.

  • Patent number: 5902903
Abstract: In the process described, purification and improvement in odor of, in particular, fatty alkyldimethylamines is achieved by exposing, in the liquid phase, the tertiary amine to be treated to a vacuum or an inert gas stream. By means of the process according to the invention, in a relatively short time and in a simple and economical manner, a tertiary fatty alkylmethylamine is obtained which is essentially trimethylamine-free and improved in odor.

  • Patent number: 5896881
Abstract: The process and device according to the invention make it possible to reduce the pressure build-up in the head space as a function of the quantity of inflow medium. It also makes it possible to maintain or create defined flow conditions in the head space gas. This is accomplished by measuring the quantity of gaseous and/or liquid inflow medium and then venting the head space gas as a function of the quantity of inflow medium.

  • Patent number: 5893387
Abstract: An electrically controlled faucet is disclosed which is operable by pushing a button or placing hands within the operating range of a sensor. The faucet is mounted to a sink deck or like surface using specially configured gasket means which insure against slippage of the faucet on the deck. The gasketing means provide special channels through which electrical operating wires can be securely passed from the faucet to operating means below the sink deck. These operating means include a solenoid valve that controls fluid flow through the faucet and a temperature control valve fluidly linked to the solenoid valve. Solenoid disabling pressure buildup in the line linking the temperature control valve and solenoid is bled through special bleed means in the temperature control valve inlets.

  • Patent number: 5891293
Abstract: In a method for bonding a foam-fabric composite to a molded foam core, particularly suitable for use as an automotive cushion assembly, specific advantageous polymeric MDI-based foams are used to achieve consistently excellent bond strength. In the method, a foam layer is flame laminated to a fabric layer. Then the foam-fabric laminate and an air impervious adhesive film are placed over a mold surface, and the adhesive is drawn against the foam of the foam-fabric laminate and the fabric layer is urged against the mold surface by applied vacuum. The foam core pad is placed adjacent to the adhesive film. The film is heated and diffused into the foam pad and into the foam of the foam-fabric laminate, respectively, and allowed to cure. The foam layer laminated to the fabric is formed as the reaction product of a polyether polyol or a graft polyether polyol with from about 30 to about 60 parts by weight of an MDI or a polymeric MDI/TDI blended isocyanate or mixtures thereof, from about 1.5 to 3.

  • Patent number: 5887803
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for grinding and sifting a product, in which the product is embrittled by a coolant and is comminuted in a mill (8), the comminuted product being fed, after comminution while keeping away ambient air and the moisture this involves, to a sifter (14). With the process and the apparatus according to the invention, the product can be comminuted and sifted in a closed-loop process without separating agents having to be fed to the ground product prior to sifting to overcome electrostatic charging. The sifter (14) is preferably operated with the gaseous coolant which is used to operate the mill (8) so that any losses of sifter circuit gas occurring during sifting can be compensated by feeding in a gaseous coolant. The total duration of the process can be reduced considerably.

  • Patent number: 5888050
Abstract: A precision high-pressure control assembly for supercritical fluids comprises a continuous flow system having a pressure control loop which includes a source of fluid communicating with a piston driven pump. A pressure sensor monitors the pressure of the supercritical fluid in the outlet line of the pump. A pressure controller has an input for receiving a signal relating to the pressure sent by the pressure sensor and the pressure controller yields an electronic output signal to an electropneumatic regulator. A source of air communicates with the electropneumatic regulator to provide pressurized regulated driver air directed to the pump. The electropneumatic regulator controls the regulated driver air pressure of the pump in accordance with the signal received from the pressure controller. The piston head of the pump is in a cryogenic chamber to minimize flash and cavitation.
