  • Patent number: 4593544
Abstract: A central locking system with a two-door control for motor vehicles, in which certain locking operations are precluded in dependance on the position of the key of a starter switch of the driving engine. In order to prevent an unitentional locking of the vehicle doors under certain operating conditions, means are provided according to the present invention which enable a locking actuation of the central locking system exclusively by the interior actuating element of the driver door on the steering column side when the key is in the starter whereas only a mechanical locking of the individual front door on the passenger side is possible by way of the interior actuating element of this passenger door.

  • Patent number: 4592571
Abstract: To prevent the possibility of the upper extremities of a strapped-in passenger in a convertible vehicle from going beyond the extension of the tiltable roll bar in the event that the vehicle turns over, despite the fact that the roll bar is erected, the latter is extended beyond its particular pivoting point, and this extension engages around the shoulder-belt part between its deflection point and the lower fastening point, and when the roll bar is swung up, causes a tautening of the belt-band run because the shoulder-belt part is taken up.

  • Patent number: 4591137
Abstract: A protective covering for the piston rod of a telescoping spring element which includes a gas pressure cylinder and a piston rod. For protecting the piston rod during painting of the motor vehicle, the gas pressure cylinder is surrounded with a protective covering of sponge rubber which surrounds in a fluid-tight manner the cylinder casing and a sealing disk arranged at the free end of the piston rod. For the rapid removal of the protective covering after the painting operation, it is provided with a radially projecting tearing extension which has at its two base edges one cross-sectional reduction each formed by a longitudinal groove. The protective covering is longitudinally divided by these cross-sectional reductions, when tearing the tearing extension radially outwardly or in the longitudinal direction of the gas pressure cylinder, so that as a result thereof the protective covering then only has to be pulled off the gas pressure cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4586369
Abstract: A method for determining cylinders operating with irregular combustion of an elastically supported internal combustion engine, by means of which the faulty cylinder or cylinders can be recognized from the vibration velocity taking place at the repetition frequency and from the vibration distance traversed at the natural frequency of the internal combustion engine, in each case in relation to vibrations about the axis of rotation of the internal combustion engine, and from a synchronizing pulse coordinated to the operating cycle. Additionally, the invention also indicates an apparatus to carry out the method.

  • Patent number: 4584980
Abstract: Electrically operated valve for liquid or gaseous media, suitable for internal combustion engines, possessing an electrically-activated actuating element with a short actuating displacement, this actuating element acting on a control valve, and possessing a nozzle element which unblocks a nozzle when a defined pressure is present in the supply line. The actuating element is connected to an actuating-element base and is pressed, by means of an actuating-element spring, against the control-valve plate of the control valve, this control-valve plate being pressed, by a stronger control-valve spring, against a fixed reference plane. In order to compensate for changes in the length of the actuating element, resulting from mechanical forces and/or from temperature changes, a collect-type clamping device is provided, which is subjected to the pressure of the medium and clamps the actuating element while it is being operated.

  • Patent number: 4583638
Abstract: A pressure-tight vessel for the storage of hydrogen in a metal matrix body and in which a matrix body is arranged in a tube preferably made of aluminum, the outside diameter of the matrix body before activation is less than the inside diameter of the vessel, and in which discs are provided filling the tube cross-section, which discs rest against the end faces of the matrix body and are displaceable axially outwards against resistance within the tube, as a result of which it becomes possible for the matrix body to expand in the axial direction. For a faster absorption and emission of hydrogen, the matrix body is preferably provided with a central extraction tube which is guided through the discs. Any deformation of the vessel as a result of changes in volume of the matrix body is avoided by this construction.
