Abstract: A tire building device wherein a unistage drum (6) includes an inner shaft (7) having an intermediate portion fitted with an innerstitching device (11), and two end portions located on opposite sides of the innerstitching device (11) and supporting two half drums (12,13) connected to the inner shaft (7) via the interposition of respective slides (18), each of which is connected, in one instance, in a sliding and angularly fixed manner to the inner shaft (7), and, in another, in a rotary manner to the respective half drum (12)(13) which may be locked in relation to the respective slide (18) by means of a friction coupling (53).
Abstract: A low noise pneumatic tire tread and method for producing same characterized by the minimization of the total amount of acoustic energy produced by a tire's tread as it rolls over a road surface by the strategic placement of grooves in a tread design such that the amount of groove void across at least one of the trailing and leading edges of the tread's footprint is substantially uniform about the circumference of the tire.
Abstract: A method and device (1) for stitching multilayer products (2) of green elastomeric material, whereby an annular multilayer product (2) of green elastomeric material, particularly a product forming at least components of a tire (2), is placed inside a hollow annular body designed to house the multilayer product (2) and forming a stitching mold (5) having a concave inner surface (5a) contacting a first convex surface (34a) of the multilayer product (2) and negatively reproducing the final shape to be imparted on the multilayer product (2); a stitching device (24) being brought into contact, at a given pressure, with a second concave surface (34) of the multilayer product (2); and relative motion being produced between the stitching device (24) and the multilayer product (2), so as to cause the stitching device (24) to stitch the multilayer product (2) in contact with the inner surface (5a) of the stitching mold (5).
Abstract: A curing unit (1) (40) wherein a mold (2) is defined by first and second releasable half molds (3,4) moving in relation to each other along a first axis (6); the first half mold (3) being designed to turn about a second axis (30) perpendicular to the first axis (6) by virtue of actuators (31) which, when the half molds (3,4) are released, can turn the first half mold (3) to and from a maintenance position wherein its concave side faces upwardly.
Abstract: An spring has a pair of axially spaced end members and an intervening bellows. The bellows includes inner and outer elastomeric body plies, each containing cords biased at generally opposite angles with respect to each other, such as 341/2.degree.. A pair of reinforcing strips of elastomeric coated cords are located between the inner and outer body plys. The cords of the reinforcing strips are biased in opposite directions with respect to each other and in opposite directions with respect to the cords of the body plies adjacent thereto. Furthermore, the cords of the reinforcing strips are between 2.degree. and 6.degree. less than the bias angles of the body ply cords. The reinforcing strips extend from adjacent the peripheral sealing edge of one of the end members a distance of between 2 inches and 6 inches, or generally less than one-fourth the axial separation of the end members, and stiffens the one end of the bellows to prevent the bellows from rolling over the peripheral edge of the one end member.
