Abstract: A chronic subdermal silver-silver/chloride (Ag—Ag/Cl) electrode for the recording of biopotentials is disclosed. The electrode is comprised of an Ag—Ag/Cl distal end that is placed subdermally by various methods. The recording electrode is made of solid, multi-stranded or a ball of pure silver and the whole length of the electrode is insulated except for the distal end which is used for voltage recordation. The electrode can be placed subdermally by an introducer apparatus such as hypodermic or sewing needle, a split-cannula, a staple, or a suture. Once placed, the introducer apparatus can be removed leaving the recording wire/element in place. The recording electrode can be placed at any location on the body to record the local biopotential (EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, etc). It can be left in place for hours, days, or weeks, as it will record without any further adjustment.

Abstract: A solar collector arrangement includes a number of assemblies (1), which are immersed or partially immersed in a pond of water (2). Each assembly (1) includes a parabolic reflector (3) and an absorber (6). Barriers (10) are located on or near the surface of the water (2) and operate to reduce waves which may otherwise disturb the direct passage of sunlight in windy conditions. The complete immersion of the assembly (1) in the liquid serves to simultaneously protect and cool the apparatus, while allowing ease of sun 10 tracking movements by buoyancy induced rotation. Partially immersed versions have higher efficiency and protect against severe weather by inverting into the water.
Abstract: A biventricular heart stimulator is adapted to optimize an interventricular delay interval duration by minimizing a mechanical asynchrony between right and left ventricle. Mechanical asynchrony between right and left ventricle is determined by measuring right ventricular and left ventricular intracardiac impedance or conductivity.
Abstract: A connector/bushing assembly for electrical junction boxes includes a nut which may receive a male conduit/connector which extends through the wall of a junction box, and a liner situated within the nut. Abstract: The handhold of an exercise handgrip turns freely while seated between the open ends of the upwardly extending prongs. It can be easily removed by moving the specially formed end part of the handhold into an access opening wide enough to slip the end part through. In positioning the handhold's end part for this removal, it must be forcibly snapped through a narrow opening. By reversing the procedure, the handhold can easily be returned to its place of rotation. The specially formed end part of the handhold must, therefore, have a narrow neck-like portion to fit through the narrow opening but the end part must also be enlarged to keep it in place for rotation. Preferably, there is also a stem and ball unit in one of the prongs which swings into place to trap exercise sheeting, cord or other media within an opening at the handgrip's bottom portion.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of producing hydrogen from oxygenated hydrocarbon reactants, such as methanol, glycerol, sugars (e.g. glucose and xylose), or sugar alcohols (e.g. sorbitol). The method takes place in the condensed liquid phase. The method includes the steps of reacting water and a water-soluble oxygenated hydrocarbon in the presence of a metal-containing catalyst. The catalyst contains a metal selected from the group consisting of Group VIIIB transitional metals, alloys thereof, and mixtures thereof. The disclosed method can be run at lower temperatures than those used in the conventional steam reforming of alkanes.
Abstract: A heart stimulator provides for a more appropriate yet simple setting of the AV-delay. The heart stimulator comprises a stimulation pulse generator adapted to generate electric stimulation pulses and connected to a ventricular stimulation electrode for delivering electric stimulation pulses. A sensing stage connected to an electrode for picking up electric potentials inside a ventricle is adapted to sense an excitation or a contraction of a heart chamber. A memory is adapted to store parameters defining a Bezier function determining the relationship between AV-delay values and heart rate and a control unit connected to said memory, said sensing stage and to said stimulation pulse generator, is adapted to determine an actual AV-delay based on an actual intrinsic heart rate or an actual stimulation rate and a non-linear smoothing interpolation between said parameters stored in said memory.
Abstract: A hurdle which may be readily converted between an erect/in-use state and a collapsed/readily storable state includes a crossbar having adjustable height, and the ability to be converted between a supporting state where one or more support legs maintain the hurdle in an erect position, and a folded state wherein the support legs are folded within the plane of the hurdle so that it will not readily stand erect. Thus, the crossbar may be collapsed to a lowest-height position and the hurdle may be put in its folded state for easy transport and storage, or the support leg(s) may be unfolded to its supporting state and the crossbar may be raised to a desired height so that the hurdle is ready for use. A handle may also be provided for allowing easy collection and transport of multiple hurdles.
Abstract: A framework for creating database applications includes a framework upon which a database application is built. The framework also provides enhanced sorting capability and has a user friendly and intuitive data organization theme.
Abstract: A method for treating cells and/or nuclear transfer units and/or stem cells in culture with such compounds, individually or in combinations, is described. The method results in a globally hypomethylated genome and a restoration of cell differentiation and/or developmental potential, or potentiality. In addition, a method for the in vitro production of reprogrammed cells which have had differentiation potential (totipotential, pluripotential, or multipotential) restored by demethylating the genome is described.
Abstract: The equipment is considered in paired aspect, one construction for each of the exerciser's hands. In one arrangement, a strapping loop for each is respectively run through both of two tunneled components—a handhold and tethering anchor. To use it, the anchor is positioned on the opposing side at the top of a closed door so as to become trapped in place against the door and its frame. The exerciser grabs the handhold and performs chin-ups or other body suspension exercises by pulling upward along the door's face. A hand bracing assembly is optionally included to cushion the hands from excessive pressure against the door. If desired, the operator may also temporarily adapt the assembly to pull-type exercises.
