  • Patent number: 6976607
Abstract: A cap comprising an upper part (2) having a dispensing orifice (10), a skirt (3) which depends from the upper part (2), a lid (15) connected to the upper part by a hinge (16) so as to be movable between open and closed positions of the orifice (10); tamper-evident band (25) joined to the upper part (2) by frangible straps (30, 32) each having a zone of least resistance for rupture, and which defines a hooking edge (26) in the closed position for receiving a hook (27) carried by the lid (15). The lid includes means (35) for retaining the band (25) in order to hold it against the lid (15) in the closed position and to prevent manipulation of the band to open the lid without rupture of the straps.

  • Patent number: 6971558
Abstract: A closure for a container, which has a self-closing valve having a cup-shaped valve head (32) with a dispensing aperture defined therein. In response to increased pressure in the container, the head of the self-closing valve to flatten and partially invert, thereby opening the dispensing aperture (6). The closure (1) includes an energizing ring (5) arrange surrounding the valve head (32) and adapted to restrict the radial expansion thereof. The position and design of the energizing ring (5) relative to the valve head (32) may be adjusted to affect the performance of the valve allowing a single valve design to be used for a number of different applications. Alternatively the energizing ring (5) may be used to improve the performance of a particular design of valve.

  • Patent number: 6966267
Abstract: A shelf assembly includes a pair of shelf brackets secured to a rim which carries a planar support. The shelf brackets include oppositely directed pins spaced a predetermined distance from each other which correspond to a plurality of slots in a pair of mirror image adapter brackets each having a vertical slideway associated with the slots. The adapter brackets have hooks for engaging slots in vertical shelf tracks of a refrigerator compartment to effect “coarse” vertical adjustment of the shelf assembly. However, the shelf can be “fine tuned” vertically adjusted by moving the pins of the shelf brackets along the sideways and into selected pairs of the adapter bracket slots.

  • Patent number: 6964131
Abstract: A door includes a U-shaped frame having opposing side channels. The channels include peripheral, inner and outer walls with the inner wall being of a larger size and configuration than the outer wall. A glass insert slightly smaller than the size of the inner wall is inserted therethrough and is guided to a centered position seated upon the outer wall. An open frame insert is slid into the two side channels, and a plurality of opposing pairs of walls deflect the open frame insert into bearing engagement with the glass insert. A peripheral edge of the open frame insert defines a peripheral channel with a terminal edge of the door frame inner wall for receipt therein of a peripheral securing boss of an elastomeric peripheral seal.

  • Patent number: 6962116
Abstract: A shelf assembly includes a pair of shelf adapter brackets each defined by first and second shelf bracket members, one of which includes vertically disposed opposing slideways into which open a plurality of vertically spaced slots and the other of which includes a plurality of supporting projections which move in the slideways and seat in the slots to effect selectively vertical adjustment of an associated shelf. The shelf may include shelf brackets having hooks for engaging in slots of one of the bracket members or can be integrally formed to define one of the first and second bracket members. Another embodiment includes a shelf having an injection molded rim with hooks at rear corners thereof for engaging one of the shelf support members. Each shelf assembly prevents inadvertent/accidental disengagement of an associated shelf from the adapter brackets.

  • Patent number: 6951037
Abstract: A universal adjustable bed is provided to accommodate twin, twin extra long, full extra long, queen, etc. adjustable beds through a single adjustable bed mechanism which can be accommodated in beds irrespective of the differences in sizes thereof. The adjustable bed mechanism includes headboard and footboard adjusting linkage mechanisms and drive mechanisms therefor with associated head, seat, thigh and foot boards, all unitized in a single assembly which can be “drop-in” assembled to an associated bed foundation. Significantly, the support frame includes locating or connecting points which correspond in transverse distances to like support points of the bed foundation irrespective of the width of the specific bed foundation. In this manner a single universal adjustable bed mechanism can be dropped-in and connected to an appropriate bed foundation to form a bed of virtually any conventional size.

  • Patent number: 6921546
Abstract: A glass or glass-like substrate having a contact-killing, non-leaching antimicrobial effective amount of metal ions contained in at least one surface region thereof, and having a color of b*?+6 on the CIE international color scale is disclosed. The antimicrobial substrate is prepared by providing a metal ion precursor comprising at least one source of antimicrobial effective metal ions dissolved or otherwise dispersed in a carrier material; depositing the precursor onto at least one surface of the substrate; drying the substrate at a temperature of from about 20° C. to about 105° C. by removing volatiles from the metal ion precursor; and heating the resulting substrate at a temperature of about 600-650° C. for 2-5 min. to exchange or otherwise implant antimicrobial metal ions from the precursor and into the glass or glass-like substrate.

  • Patent number: 6902559
Abstract: The liposuction device (10) for removing subcutaneous fatty tissue (12) comprises a suction cannula (16) with suction openings (22) for sucking the subcutaneous fatty tissue (12) and an injection line (18) with an injection opening (20) for injecting a working fluid. The injection opening (20) is placed on the front end of the injection line (18) and is provided in the shape of a slit so that the working fluid exits in the shape of a fan (21). The width of the slit of the injection opening (20) is less than 1.0 mm. This constricts the injection opening so that the use of the working liquid is reduced to a justifiable quantity, at the same time, the exiting working fluid fan guarantees a uniform and effective removal of subcutaneous fatty tissue.

  • Patent number: 6889396
Abstract: A mattress clip is provided which, when used in pairs, secures a mattress to an adjustable bed to prevent the mattress from sliding off leg, thigh, hip and back supports of the adjustable bed. Two clips are secured to the thigh support in cantilever fashion with opposing free ends projecting toward each other and being received in axial open ends of a tube sewn to a cover of the mattress. Though limited transverse and longitudinal motion of the mattress relative to the leg, thigh, hip and back supports can take place during adjusting movements of the adjustable bed, the mattress is precluded from excessive shifting and cannot inadvertently or accidentally slide off the supports. Each mattress clip includes elongated openings through which bolts are passed for reception in aligned openings of the thigh support to permit limited transverse adjustment of the mattress clips.

  • Patent number: 6890410
Abstract: An electrolysis conversion system for converting liquid to gas, such as water into hydrogen and oxygen, includes a housing in which are housed encapsulated and non-encapsulated electrodes in any one of side-by-side, rolled or folded relationship. The electrodes are immersed in an electrolyte, water or the like and are appropriately electrically connected to positive and negative sides of an energy source. The encapsulation material of the encapsulated electrodes can be substantially conductive or non-conductive to either ion flow or electron flow and either substantially non-porous or porous to gas bubbles with the option of utilizing spacers to prevent arcing and thereby generate hydrogen and oxygen from the water/electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 6890140
Abstract: A seam adjuster for ensuring that a tight seam is formed between a can end and a can body. The seam tool (32) is mounted via bearing (34) on the seam lever (31), the centre of the bearing being eccentric to its outside diameter. The bearing has an-external thread (35) which mates with a complementary worm mechanism (36). By virtue of the eccentricity, rotation of the worm mechanism rotates the bearing and moves the seam tool radially for adjusting seam tightness. Seam tool height is set by a spacer (33) or shim which is readily interchangeable for varying the seam tool height without affecting seam tool tightness.
