Abstract: An alternating-current motor control apparatus includes a voltage controller configured to output a command voltage vector so that the command voltage vector is time-averaged for time periods, a square-wave voltage generator configured to control, every time period, amplitudes and phases of voltages to be applied to an alternating-current motor, a current detector configured to detect motor currents at a timing synchronized with periods 1/N-th of the time periods, where N is equal to or larger than one, a coordinate transformation section configured to perform coordinate transformation to transform the motor currents into two-phase currents, an envelope extractor configured to extract two-phase currents as waveforms having amplitudes that periodically change from the two-phase currents, and extract envelopes of the waveforms, and a magnetic-pole-position computing section configured to compute a magnetic-pole position using the envelopes.

Abstract: An image recognition device includes a detection unit which is configured to detect a first difference between partial information of at least a part of the first image information and the reference information and to detect a second difference between partial information of at least a part of the second image information and the reference information. Abstract: Electron mobility and hole mobility is improved in long channel semiconductor devices and resistors by employing complementary stress liners. Embodiments include forming a long channel semiconductor device on a substrate, and forming a complementary stress liner on the semiconductor device. Embodiments include forming a resistor on a substrate, and tuning the resistance of the resistor by forming a complementary stress liner on the resistor. Compressive stress liners are employed for improving electron mobility in n-type devices, and tensile stress liners are employed for improving hole mobility in p-type devices.

Abstract: Bacteria in water 9 exposed outdoors are effectively killed with ultraviolet (UV) light by suppressing post-treatment increase in the bacteria population due to photoreactivation. The apparatus shines UV light on the water 9 to kill bacteria and has UV light emitting diodes (LEDs) 1 that emit UVA light with a primary emission peak of 320 nm-400 nm. The antibacterial action of the UVA light emitted by the UV LEDs 1 prevents proliferation of bacteria in the disinfected water 9 due to photoreactivation.
Abstract: A spectral element separates first laser light in such a manner that an area including only signal light as reflected first laser light is formed on a photodetector. The photodetector is provided with a first sensor group which is disposed at an irradiation position of signal light of the separated first laser light, and a second sensor group which receives zero-th order diffraction light of a main beam and two sub beams of second laser light that has been transmitted through the spectral element. The second sensor group includes a four-divided sensor which receives the main beam. The four-divided sensor is disposed in an area surrounded by the first sensor group. Zero-th order diffraction light of the first laser light that has been transmitted through the spectral element is irradiated onto the four-divided sensor.

Abstract: There is provided a laser-marking multilayer sheet for an electronic passport formed by laminating five sheets of a multilayer sheet A/a multilayer sheet B/a film C/a multilayer sheet B/a multilayer sheet A. The multilayer sheet B is a colored laser-marking multilayer sheet. The film C is a laser-marking multilayer sheet made of a film for the electronic passport. The laser-marking multilayer sheet can have clear letters, symbols, and images, which are excellent in a laser-marking property and high in contrasts between the original surface color and the printed portions. The laser-marking multilayer sheet is excellent especially for inhibiting the falsification and forgery thereof.
