    Abstract: A connector for making an electrical connection with a mating interface (17) includes a hollow conductor (1) within which is included a member (9) which is relatively movable with respect to the conductor (1). Resilient means (12), which may be a spring, is located between the conductor (1) and member (9). In a first state of the connector, the conductor (1) and member (9) are in a relative position in which the resilient means (12) exerts a force between them urging them together. Following a mechanical connection made between the member (9) and the mating interface (17), the connector is set in a second state in which the force applied by the resilient means (12) takes effect, moving the conductor (1) and member (9) towards one another to make an electrical connection between the conductor (1) and the mating interface (17). This allows a connection to be made with only minimal force and no torque, making it suitable for fragile connections.

    Abstract: A camera producing colour video outputs may employ an image intensifier 5 and a monochrome CCD sensor 3. The scene is exposed through filters F3, F4 which may each contain stripes of subtractive primary colours alternating with clear regions. The video is decoded using waveforms derived from a memory which records the output of the sensor when imaged on, for example, primary colours such as red and blue, producing trains of pulses which identify the spatial regions of each line corresponding to the spatial areas of the pattern on the sensor produced by the colour filters F3, F4, in order that actual scenes can be decoded using the stored waveforms, for example using sample and hold devices. A colour interference signal is generated in matrix addition circuitry 10 to produce a luminance signal which has stripe visibility removed from it, permitting high resolution video signals to be obtained.

The bead is surrounded by thermally insulating material such as glass fiber and a filter material is arranged between the bead and the aperture in the can. This acts to remove H2S or other inhibiting gases before they reach the bead and impair its performance. The thermally insulating material allows the filter material to be included whilst still permitting the bead to be operated at a high temperature.

    Abstract: A table tent is described for protecting food at an outdoor picnic. The table tent is intended to be constructed of mesh and supported on an interframe covering a conventional picnic table top. The supporting frame rests on top of the plastic bottom and a mesh tent is provided having a roof resting on the top of the supporting frame and depending sides. The sides would be affixed to the border of the mesh base panel preferably by Velcro strips. Access to the table tent is provided by clear plastic windows in the upper roof which are secured by Velcro strips to the mesh tent. Compartments are further provided in the structure covered by clear plastic windows for holding eating utensils, napkins, bread and the like.

Control of and power to the FETs is supplied via a single turn primary passing through a plurality of toroidal secondary transformers. A train of control pulses is applied to the single turn primary and their polarity determines whether the main FET is switched on or off, the length of the pulse train determining the pulse width and PRF of the output of the switching arrangement.     Abstract: A filter system for a deep fat fryer is described. The filter system can be used in a single fryer or with two or more sequentially operated fryers. In the later case, a common filter pan is used with a horizontal filter in the pan, disposed below a common drain pipe. A return pipe is mounted in the center of the filter. This pipe is connected to a pump inlet so that oil to be filtered is admitted to the pan above the filter, and filtered oil is removed from the pan through the filter. Filtered oil is then circulated by the pump through a three port valve to return the oil to the appropriate fryer tank. If the valve is closed the oil will be routed through the valve to an adjacent tank valve for admission to that tank so that a single pump may be used for a plurality of tanks. An optional flush system can also be provided so that oil can be used to flush a tank manually.
