  • Patent number: 4480379
Abstract: Improvements in adapting coil placing machines to accommodate cores of differing sizes such as varying stack heights is disclosed wherein a ram actuated stripper which normally engages and urges coils along finger elements into a magnetic core is extended to mechanically couple a portion of a shaft supporting those finger elements with a portion of the stripper actuating rod so as to prevent relative rotation between those two coupled portions and then the coupled portions are rotated together while holding the stripper and finger elements in a rotationally fixed position so as to allow a threaded interconnection coupling the fingers to the finger support shaft as well as a threaded interconnection coupling the stripper to the stripper actuating ram portion to move both the stripper and the fingers axially within the machine.

  • Patent number: 4480501
Abstract: A ring gear assembly is also provided with the a transaxle, and includes a ring gear carrying a bevel gear assembly in its interior, both of which are contained in a cavity in the housing for the transaxle. A pair of bearing shoes are directly disposed between the teeth of the ring gear and the housing cavity and between the opposite sides of the ring gear and the housing cavity. The bearing shoes have an arcuately-shaped inner surface against which the ring gear teeth are rotatably placed. During rotation of the ring gear, bearing surface therefor is provided by the teeth of the ring gear and the inner surfaces of the bearing shoes.

  • Patent number: 4477341
Abstract: The injector apparatus is of the kind having a constriction which lies, in the flow direction, immediately before a following adjoining mixing section, in which fibrous stock suspension is mixed with air for the purpose of subjecting the suspension to flotation in a flotation tank. The mixing pipe in which the mixing section is disposed has a radial diffusor at its outlet end, and, for a greater flow rate of air, additional air intake bores are disposed therein a short distance in the flow direction after the constriction.A favorable arrangement is achieved if the injector apparatus with the mixing pipe is arranged perpendicularly in a flotation tank, which may have the form of a reclining cylinder. In this case, the froth, like the cleaned suspension, is drawn off on one long side, i.e., a side which extends parallel to the cylinder axis; the extraction opening for the cleaned suspension being provided preferably immediately below the level of the suspension and/or the froth extraction arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4476266
Abstract: (1) A graft copolymer latex obtained by the copolymerization of a rubbery diene polymer latex with an aromatic vinyl monomer and an acrylic monomer is mixed with (2) a copolymer latex having a glass transition point of -40.degree. to 10.degree. C. and a volume-average particle size of at least 0.5.mu. obtained by the copolymerization of an olefin with a vinyl ester of a fatty acid while they are maintained in the form of latex to precipitate a solid resin, whereby a thermoplastic resin composition is obtained. The total solid resin contains at least 11 wt. % of the rubbery diene polymer and at least 1 wt. % of the copolymer of olefin/vinyl ester of fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 4476335
Abstract: In a process for the preparation of mononitrochlorobenzene by nitration of chlorobenzene using a mixed acid of nitric acid and phosphoric acid, the nitration reaction is carried out by using a molar ratio of nitric acid to chlorobenzene of not more than equimol in the presence of a concentrated phosphoric acid as the phosphoric acid component at temperatures of 50.degree.-120.degree. C. while maintaining the concentration of phosphoric acid to 72.4 weight % as P.sub.2 O.sub.5 or more during the reaction.

  • Patent number: 4440920
Abstract: Aromatic polyesters are obtained by copolycondensing isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid or derivatives thereof with bis(hydroxyphenyl) sulfone and 2,2-bis(4'-hydroxyphenyl)propane.These aromatic polyesters have excellent molding workability. From these polyesters, colorless, transparent moldings can be obtained by compression, extrusion or injection molding methods. The products thus obtained have excellent mechanical and electrical properties and improved heat resistance.

  • Patent number: 4425145
Abstract: The invention provides an air cleaner assembly in combination with an engine having a blower housing with airflow circulating therethrough and a carburetor having an intake. The assembly comprises a duct having an inlet and an outlet with the inlet angularly disposed through the blower housing, an air cleaner housing having side walls and a bottom wall, and an outlet chamber having an inlet and an outlet in communication with the carburetor inlet. Within the air cleaner housing, a first interior wall is upstanding from the bottom wall and defines with certain side walls an intake chamber having an inlet communicating with the duct outlet, and a second interior wall upstanding from the bottom wall so that a filter chamber is formed between the interior walls having an outlet in its bottom wall so that the filter chamber and outlet chamber communicate through the filter chamber outlet and the outlet chamber inlet.

  • Patent number: 4366458
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a mercury displacement relay and a method of making the same which utilizes a spring totally submerged within the mercury to support a movable displacement plunger. A cylindrical electrode contains the mercury, and the spring is uniquely connected to the bottom portion of the electrode. The spring opposite end is attached to a bottom portion of the displacement relay, which is received within the cylindrical electrode so that its bottom portion is submerged in the mercury. A pin electrode is also received within the cylindrical electrode and insulated therefrom. Adapted to the cylindrical electrode is a coil device, which, upon being energized, moves the plunger upwardly to cause the mercury to recede and break contact with the portion of the pin electrode in contact with the mercury. Upon deenergizing the coil device, the spring draws downwardly on the plunger to cause the mercury to rise and make contact again with the pin electrode.
