  • Patent number: 6302382
Abstract: A bumper for limiting the limiting the mobility of a wheeled device. The bumper is an elongated member having a base wall and an elastically resilient wheel engagement wall coupled to the base wall. The wheel engagement wall includes an outer surface and an inner surface, one of which includes reliefs for aiding the wall to conform to and stop the rolling action of a wheel of a wheeled device when impacted thereby. The energy stored in the engagement wall when impacted by the wheel of the wheeled device returns the engagement wall to its original shape thereby pushing the wheel of the wheeled device away from the elongated member. A bumper system may be fabricated by connecting two or more of the bumpers together in a desired configuration using adjustable, straight, or bent connectors.

  • Patent number: 6300562
Abstract: A sealed fiber optic enclosure assembly includes a fiber optic enclosure having an inner rim, and an end cap shaped to fit the enclosure. The end cap has a pliable membrane depending from it. The membrane is approximately a cylindrical structure. The membrane may have a wedge-shaped cross section. The wedge-shaped cross section may have an elbow in it. The membrane and end cap may be formed from a single piece of a pliable material, such as polypropylene. The membrane extends into the rim of the enclosure when the end cap is in place on the enclosure. The enclosure has a neck that transitions from a first diameter to a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. The second diameter is smaller than a diameter of the membrane. A clamp is placed over mating portions of the enclosure and end cap, for clamping the end cap to the enclosure. The clamp may be a V-clamp. Pressure is introduced to the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6301280
Abstract: A wavelength stabilized laser system includes a laser that produces a laser light. The laser light has an amplitude and a wavelength that vary with the laser temperature. A first detector provides a first signal representing the amplitude of the laser light. A filter has a gain that is a function of the wavelength of the laser light. The filter receives the laser light and outputs a filtered light having an amplitude that varies with the wavelength of the laser light. A second detector provides a second signal representing the amplitude of the filtered light. A transformer has a primary and a secondary. The primary is electrically coupled to the first and second detectors. The primary of the transformer includes a first coil connected to the first detector and a second coil connected to the second detector. The first and second coils of the primary are opposite in polarity from each other.

  • Patent number: 6301059
Abstract: A lens system defined along an X-Y-Z coordinate system transforms an elliptical optical beam defined as exhibiting a first, fast axis component and a second, slow axis component, into an essentially circular optical beam. A first and a second lens intercepts the elliptical beam and a cruciform cylindrical lens is disposed to intercept the output from the second lens. The cruciform cylindrical lens has a fast lens and a slow lens, the fast lens having a first, front cylindrical surface oriented along the X axis of the coordinate system for magnifying the first, fast axis component, the slow lens having a second, rear cylindrical surface oriented along the Y-axis of the coordinate system for magnifying the second, slow axis component, wherein the magnifications are determined to provide an essentially circular output beam, the cruciform cylindrical lens disposed such that the optical beam exiting the second lens impinges the first, front cylindrical surface.

  • Patent number: 6296921
Abstract: A lightweight, high-strength composite fabric suitable for use in carpet backing, roofing and membranes and other products which employ rugged fabrics. The composite fabric comprises a layer of nonwoven material disposed between a layer of low shrinkage warp strands and a layer of low shrinkage weft strands. The layers are stitched or knitted together and the resultant fabric may be coated with a resin or sizing to prevent slippage between the several layers of the fabric and impart a measure of stiffness to the fabric. The fabric may be manufactured in sheet or, more preferably, roll form and may be coated with materials suitable for desired end applications, e.g., bituminous material whereby the fabric may function as a ready-to-use roofing membrane or other high-strength fabric product.
