  • Patent number: 4016763
Abstract: Circuitry including a resistance sensor is excited by an external power source. A reference voltage is established, the voltage developed across the sensor resistance is compared at an amplifier input with a reference voltage signal and the voltage across a feedback resistor, and the total current drawn through the circuitry adjusts as a function of the sensor resistance to give a balanced amplifier input. Total current may be made a linear function of sensor resistance or a non-linear function by proper selection of certain resistors.

  • Patent number: 4015782
Abstract: A machine for chopping polymers, and in particularly elastomeric materials such as tires, into uniform small size particles through the use of a rotating cutting head having teeth that have side cutting edges generally perpendicular to their outer end edges, which are parallel to the axis of rotation, and interfit with stationary teeth formed in complimentary shape. The cutting head is used in combination with a material infeed mechanism that maintains a steady, positive feed of material to reduce the elastomeric material into uniform small chunks that can be used for fuel, or otherwise more readily disposed than the present large size tires or similar articles.

  • Patent number: 3994540
Abstract: A pressure balance bearing providing a hydrostatic bearing film, which is connected to maintain a load or device in a constant position in relation to a reference or support surface. Several support bearings are plumbed together so that there may be cross flow between the bearings. An external control valve is mounted on the member and senses the relative position of the object. The valve in turn adjusts the flow of oil into the bearings as a function of changes of relative position of the object and reference or support surface. As shown, a large mass is supported on the pressure balance bearings and is capable of bilateral movement. The mass is supported on a plurality of bearings using three control valves arranged in a tripod configuration.

  • Patent number: 3993520
Abstract: An apparatus for repairing windshields and the method for using the apparatus wherein a liquid, curable resin material is forced into cracks in the windshield, using an apparatus mounted directly to the windshield, and which provides a high injection pressure and subsequently a vacuum so that the crack is completely filled, and air bubbles are removed from the filling resin during the time the resin cures. The apparatus in one form includes a disposable, simple-to-make injector that seals positively around the opening of the crack so that the resin is forced into place, and by reversing the injector, a suitable vacuum can be applied to the injected resin for removal of air bubbles.

  • Patent number: 3992978
Abstract: A pressure balanced hydrostatic slip bearing as shown for use in guiding and restraining a test table which is shaken in longitudinal direction to vibrate or shake test objects, and also which may be shaken in vertical direction. The slip bearing controls lateral position of the table during operation. A second slip bearing applies a constant compressive preload force to one side of the table and the other pressure balanced bearing is a constant displacement bearing positioned on an opposite side of the table to react lateral forces which may be imposed on the table during operation.

  • Patent number: 3987835
Abstract: A fastener for attaching a flexible cover or sheet, such as a canvas tarpaulin, to a structure to provide a cover for the structure, and also to provide an acceptable weather seal around the cover. The device comprises a channel member fixed to the structure to be covered, and used in cooperation with a lock member having a pair of bead portions attached to the cover. The bead portions are separated by a very flexible portion of material so that the outer bead portion will move easily with respect to the inner bead portion. The two bead portions are then inserted into the channel one at a time and once in the channel are held by a detent from releasing under normal tension loads on the cover.
