Abstract: The invention comprises compositions for hair treatment containing at least one quaternized aminoalkyl dimethyl polysiloxane/polyethyl oxazoline copolymer of the formula ##STR1## wherein m and n each denote integers from 20 to 10,000, x is a number between 1 and 5, and y is a number from 5 to 500, Y.sup.- being an anion, in at least one organic solvent. The composition is particularly useful for treating split hair ends.

Abstract: A security system for automatically disabling an interruptable circuit vital to the operation of a motor vehicle after an ignition of the vehicle is turned off or disabled. The security system includes a base circuit with a relay for disabling the interruptable circuit after the ignition is disabled. The base circuit includes a logic circuit that detects when the ignition is disabled, and for sending a disable signal to the relay. In one embodiment, the base circuit includes a timer circuit for delaying the disable signal to the relay for a specified time period after the ignition is turned off. The disabled interruptable circuit, and the disabled motor vehicle, may be enabled upon actuation of a remote transmitter, or switch on the base circuit. The base circuit also includes adapters for connecting the base circuit to the interruptable circuit and to a power supply of the motor vehicle at a fuse panel of the motor vehicle.

Abstract: A remotely controlled device for rotating the steering-wheel of a vehicle consists of an upper portion for gripping the steering-wheel ring by means of jaws (1), of a central frame (14) carrying a motor (16) with the relevant motion transmission chain (10, 11, 12, 13, 15) and means for detecting and memorizing the rotations (17, 19, 22, 23, 24), and of a lower portion with supporting members (27, 28, 29, 30, 31) which provide the device with the base required to react to the steering-wheel reaction torque.

Abstract: A method of removing a required number of articles from a packing box which is accommodating a plurality of articles and having one open side. The method includes a step of setting the orientation of the packing box with the open side directed side-wise, a step of sucking surfaces of the required number of articles in the packing box with sucking pads through the open side of the packing box directed side-wise, and a step of removing from the packing box the necessary number of articles sucked by the sucking pads.

Abstract: The present invention relates to wire handling grippers, a process and an apparatus for manufacturing electrical cable bundles which use these grippers. The grippers comprise ar least one sweep arm and an internal articulated arm that can gather the wire ends inserted into openings of a component and the grippers comprise two external articulated arms which can gather wires in an area that is further away from the component, which grippers can move along a guide.

Abstract: The invention concerns a pressing arrangement for a moving web. The arrangement comprises a cylindrical roll forming a press zone with a glide-belt which is at least partially and slidingly supported by a shoe having a contour of alterable convexity along the press zone surface so as to alter the length of the press zone. Supply mechanisms are provided to supply lubricant for a lubricating film between the glide belt and the shoe. The shoe can be supported by a counter roll situated on the opposite side of the shoe relative the press roll and have a concave surface mating the counter roll thus enabling adjustment of the shoe around the centerline of the counter roll. In an alternative arrangement a desired press zone length could be obtained by installing a removable insert having a proper contour in the press zone area of the shoe.

Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a knife holder forming part of a timber shaping and chip cutting head; the holder defines a flat shaped body bent in an open V-shape to form two integrally joined portions, one of which provides a surface for mounting upon a rotatable core and the other serves to secure the chip cutting knife. The head is formed of a plurality of adjacently disposed knife holders radially mounted on the face of said rotatable core, said face being perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The knife is removably mounted upon the knife holder in a manner that the knife can be rotated so that more than one cutting edge may be used.

Abstract: An apparatus for covering the hopper of a material melting and dispensing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a cover lid engageable with a cover base. A hinge arrangement allows pivoting between the cover lid and cover base, and also allows for non-destructive removal of the cover lid from the cover base upon over-extension of the cover lid in the open direction.

Abstract: A permanent waving composition for human hair without any skin sensitizing effect comprises as reducing agent 1,3-propanediol monothioglycollate and 1,3-propanediol dithioglycollate alone or in admixture with other reducing agents, wherein the content of 1,3-propanediol dithioglycollate is not more than 10%, preferably less than 5% by wt., calculated to the monoester.

Abstract: A method is described for preparing primate bone marrow cells containing a DNA sequence of interest the method being first the isolation of bone marrow cells from a primate and then co-culturing the bone marrow cells with retrovirus producer cells. The retrovirus contains the DNA sequence of interest and infects the bone marrow cells during co-culture. To obtain bone marrow cells that contain the DNA sequence of interest, non-adherent bone marrow cells and adherent cells are harvested.

Abstract: A method of charging coal into a chamber furnace-type coke oven. The coal is fed from a table feeder from a coal hopper so as to be dropped and charged into a carbonization chamber of the coke oven, through a charging cylinder. The coal fed from the table feeder is accelerated by rotation vanes at the initial stage in which the coal starts to drop. The vanes have a rotation center which is located upward on the exterior of a locus of the stream of free fall gravitated by the coal. The rotation speed of the vanes is progressively increased in the latter half of charging of the coal. The coal is thus allowed to accumulate in the carbonization chamber so that the bulk density of the coal in the vertical direction can become uniform. Also disclosed is an apparatus for charging coal into a chamber furnace-type coke oven. The apparatus includes a coal hopper for storing the coal therein. A table feeder feeds the coal from the hopper.

Abstract: An electric microswitch includes a base and a cap. The base has a bottom pair of terminals downwardly extending that are hermetically sealed because they are integrally formed as part of the base, while the same terminals extend upwardly from the top of the base, and are in the form of spring contacts. The housing has a pair of apertured extensions that receive a pair of pins located on the housing. The cap includes internal stops that push the spring contacts together when the cap is acted upon while in a pivotable position so that contact pieces on the springs complete the circuit. When the housing is in a non-movable position, the spring contacts and contact pieces are hermetically sealed by the housing acting against a shoulder on the base.

Abstract: A method of stacking a plurality of box-shaped articles is disclosed. A plurality of pairs of supporting members are provided such that they can be switched between an article supporting position and an article releasing position. After each box-shaped article is supplied to each of the supporting members set to the article supporting position, each of the supporting members is set to the article releasing position, and thus the box-shaped articles are stacked.

Abstract: A child seat restraining system that is to be affixed in an automobile and a three or multiple point seat belt system includes a belt length adjustment device (16) that has a belt reel (20) which is affixed either on the back side or on the underside of the child's seat with which the effective belt length of at least one piece of belt can be increased or decreased by counteracting or cooperating with a spring force. The belt length adjustment device (16) includes a belt blocking device (24, 25) which is located behind the belt reel (20) in the unwinding position.

Abstract: The drug consists of a two-part gelatine capsule filled with a non-toxic substance, low on burnable ingrediants, which enlarges its volume when set free in the stomach. The filling can be dissolved within the digestive tract of the human body, e.g. compressed cellulose. The person taking the drug experiences through the volume enlargement in the stomach for a certain time a feeling of fulness, hencely making it easier to lose weight.

Abstract: A cone on which thread is wound has a central frangible section at which it may easily be broken. The thread forms a winding on the cone at each side of the section leaving a space where it crosses the section. The cone may be snapped in half to give two independent wound cone parts, each with approximately half the amount of thread. This allows the purchaser the flexibility to use the cone in various ways. In one embodiment, the cone parts may be urged axially together after the frangible section has been broken, to become removably attached to one another with a reduced space between the respective windings.

Two or more types of dies having caliber configurations for respectively reducing the width at least of a low carbon steel and a stainless steel are disposed in layers and are retained in a manner capable of being displaced in an up and down direction. They may be replaced as a block with another block of stacked dies.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing unwanted pressure changes generated during treatment of a target material in a liquid-filled space with a laser. A pilot pulse is generated to produce a gas bubble in a region of the liquid-filled space before a processing pulse is directed through the region and onto the target material. An impulse spacing between the pilot pulse and the processing pulse is optimized by detecting an oscillation period of the gas bubble. The pilot pulse and processing pulse may be generated by the same or separate laser sources and directed toward the target material by the same or separate conductors, respectively.
