  • Patent number: 4590108
Abstract: An insulating system for fluid conduit pipes and the method of insulating is disclosed. An inner layer of resilient flexible insulating material is wrapped about the outer surface of the conduit pipe. An outer layer of flexible cohesive material which is moisture and vapor impervious is wrapped about the inner layer of insulating material. The cohesive material is wrapped so that portions of adjacent edges overlap to self seal by forming a cohesive seal therebetween. Preferably the wrapping of the outer cohesive material is conducted so as to partially compress the inner resilient insulating layer both circumferentially and radically. The resiliency of the insulating material presses against the cohesive seal and thereby maximizes the cohesive seal and cooperates in holding the insulating system about the conduit pipe. The inner insulating layer and outer cohesive moisture and vapor barrier layer can be easily and concurrently applied by a single operator.

  • Patent number: 4535653
Abstract: The present invention discloses a speed transformer adaptor comprising an input shaft and an output shaft and a plurality of gear systems coaxially assembled within a casing. The gear systems individually comprise a rotatable member having a first portion forming an externally toothed sun gear and a second cylindrical portion having internal gear teeth. The externally toothed sun gear portion of each gear system is coaxially positioned within the cylindrical portion of the adjacent gear system. A pinion gear is disposed within the cylindrical portion of each gear system for engaging the sun gear and the internally toothed gear to transmit power therebetween. A clutch is provided and when not engaged allows the adaptor to function to provide high speed rotation of the output shaft with low speed rotation of the input shaft, and when slidably engaged allows the input shaft, casing, gear systems and output shaft to rotate in unison to provide a 1:1 input/output ratio.

  • Patent number: 4529058
Abstract: A mounting device for mounting an earphone in sound receiving relationship to the ear of the user, the earphone comprising a generally cylindrical housing having a suitable terminal for connection to a source of signal and an inner generally planar surface having at least one sound transmitting operture. The mounting device comprises a pair of pliable elongated arm members which are attached to the housing and have distal ends overlapping each other in opposing directions. The arms and the housing define an opening therebetween through which said ear of the user is received. The distal ends of the arm members are held in releasable engagement relative to each other whereby the opening may be decreased to secure the arms about the ear and support the earphone against the ear and increased to release the earphone from the ear. When in position about the ear(s) of the user the pliable arms are then shaped to the users personal configuration for comfort and stability.

  • Patent number: 4448423
Abstract: Apparatus for playing a competitive scoring game including a flat playing surface divided into upper and lower sections, a plurality of playing pieces, and randomized selector holders for holding sets of playing pieces during play. The playing pieces include reference indicia on the top surface to indicate alphabetic consonants, vowels, and blanks which may represent consonants or vowels. The playing pieces are provided with further indicia of color to distinguish each players set of playing pieces and further indicia on the bottom surface to distinguish playinig pieces having consonants from those having vowels or blanks. The object of the game is to form colorwords by juxtaposing colored letter carrying playing pieces in the upper section. The colorwords may be extended to form other words. The word is won, when no further letters can be added, by the player whose colored letters outnumber those of any other players.
