  • Patent number: 5036557
Abstract: A patient transfer apparatus and a method of using the apparatus to facillitate the transfer of a patient lying flat, from a first patient support such as a bed or table to a second patient support such as a stretcher, or vice versa. The apparatus includes a substantially rigid, planar board which bridges between the patient supports, and a stop secured to the bottom of the board which fits between the patient supports and abuts the side edge of the receiving patient support to prevent movement of the board as the patient is slid across it. The method relates to using the apparatus to slide a patient from one patient supporting surface to another, particularly on an incline where the first and second patient supports are at different heights.

  • Patent number: 5033333
Abstract: A disc-shaped grinding wheel has a peripheral grinding edge, and according to one feature of the invention a centered grinding point is used on the grinding wheel for precise and symmetrical sharpening of right and left cutter elements of a saw chain. The chain is supported by a chain holding bar which in turn is supported on a pivot support on the base of the machine. The pivot support provides adjustment of the bar for oblique engagement of the grinding wheel with the cutter elements. The pivot support also provides a tilting adjustment of the chain holding bar for engagement of the grinding wheel with the cutter elements at a secondary angle whereby to sharpen chisel bit chains. The pivot support also allows the machine to sharpen chipper tooth chains.

  • Patent number: 5018774
Abstract: A body portion is attachable to powered lifting mechanism and has an anchor projection arranged to be engaged by an end loop of a strap formed by a doubled back portion of the strap. Abutments are provided on the body portion that are offset from the anchor projection to provide a reeved engagement by the doubled back strap such that a load end of the strap is arranged to pinch a free end against an abutment by a lifting force on the load to secure the strap non-slidably in the connector. The anchor projection and abutments are disposed at the front surface of the body portion for simple edge loading movement of the strap. The connector can be used to form a simple loop type of support or it can form a choker type of loop.

  • Patent number: 5018298
Abstract: A body member has a plurality of pegs projecting integrally in spaced relation and in a line. These pegs form individual hooking pegs for swivels of elongated fishing leaders and also form wrapping areas therebetween for leaders which are wrapped in a direction parallel with the pegs. The body member has a puncturable surface whereby the fish hook end of the leader can be anchored by sticking the point of the fish hook into the body member. In one embodiment, the body member is rectangular and is formed of two halves secured adhesively together along the line of the pegs and holding the pegs in projecting integral relation. In another embodiment, the body member with the pegs is in the form of a drum mounted on the end walls of a box-like frame and having a crank handle on one end.

  • Patent number: 5011441
Abstract: A main body member is supported by transverse supports on a pair of pontoons. The main body member supports an operator's seat, a cargo rack, a pedal drive propeller assembly, and a rudder. The main body member has longitudinal slots in its surfaces that are associated with longitudinal interior sockets for adjustable engagement with the seat, the cargo rack, a support extension for the pedal drive propeller assembly, and the transverse supports. By means of such adjustable engagement, attachable portions are capable of longitudinal adjustment for establishing the desired trim of the cycle on the water with the operator or operators supported on the seat. Also, the support extension for the pedal drive propeller assembly is capable of longitudinal adjustment to accommodate the stature of the operator or operators after the plane of buoyancy has been established. Furthermore, seat and propeller assemblies for one or two persons are capable of being substituted one for the other.
