  • Patent number: 5805304
Abstract: Input bit map image data having a resolution of 600 dpi is converted into multivalue image data MI having a resolution of 600 dpi by a binary-to-multivalue converting unit. The multivalue image data MI is converted into multivalue image data having a resolution of 400 dpi by a resolution converting unit. The edge direction of the multivalue image data is detected by an edge direction detecting unit, so as to obtain an edge direction detection flag. Based on the edge direction detection flag, an image data outputting unit outputs multivalue image data having a resolution of 400 dpi from the edge direction detecting unit.

  • Patent number: 5787303
Abstract: When a register whose content is not determined because a preceding arithmetic operation is still being executed is to be referred to by the following instruction word, or when the following instruction word uses an arithmetic operator unit which is still executing a preceding arithmetic operation, execution of the following instruction word is suspended until the preceding arithmetic operation is completed. Otherwise, even when the arithmetic operation of the preceding instruction word is being executed, control is made to execute the following instruction word without waiting for completion of the preceding arithmetic operation, thereby maximally utilizing parallel processing power.

  • Patent number: 5745282
Abstract: A light modulation device includes a lithium niobate light modulator, an amplifier, and a bias control circuit. The lithium niobate light modulator modulates light from a light source in accordance with an input electrical signal, and outputs the modulated light. The lithium niobate light modulator includes a terminal for terminating the electrical signal. The amplifier amplifies the electrical signal to a level where it can drive the lithium niobate light modulator, and outputs the amplified signal to the lithium niobate light modulator. The amplifier includes an amplifying element at an output stage. A bias voltage of the amplifying element is set by externally supplied DC voltages. The bias control circuit supplies the DC voltages to the amplifying element, and a DC operating voltage to the terminating terminal of the lithium niobate light modulator to set a modulation operating point of the lithium niobate light modulator.

  • Patent number: 5596257
Abstract: A step motor controller including a sampling program for sampling, at predetermined intervals, input target values that represent a position of the step motor. The difference between the sampled target value and a rotational position of the step motor is obtained. A step motor accelerating and decelerating program accelerates the step motor upon finding the difference between the sampled target value and the current position of the step motor is greater than a set value. When the difference is less than the set value the step motor is decelerated. The predetermined sampling time does not correspond to the natural frequency of the step motor system or to a period corresponding to a fractional multiple of the natural frequency.

  • Patent number: 5202948
Abstract: Traveling-wave type light amplifier having a waveguide region, both end portions of which are tapered such that the tip of each end has a width and a thickness which are equal to each other. Due to the shape of an end portion of the waveguide region, the output light of the amplifier hardly depends on two linearly polarized wave components. Hence, the near-field pattern of the light-emitting point and the far-field pattern of the output beam are of rotation symmetry. Thus, the light amplifier can be optically coupled to an optical fiber with high efficiency. In addition, since the center portion of the waveguide region has a uniform width, just like the waveguide of the conventional light amplifier, device characteristics such as a current density are not changed.
