    Abstract: A medical probe device comprises a catheter having a stylet guide housing with one or more stylet ports in a side wall thereof and a stylet guide for directing a flexible stylet outward through the stylet port and through intervening tissue at a preselected, adjustable angle to a target tissue. The total catheter assembly includes a stylet guide lumen communicating with the stylet port and a stylet positioned in said stylet guide lumen for longitudinal movement from the port through intervening tissue to a target tissue. The stylet can be an electrical conductor enclosed within a non-conductive layer, the electrical conductor being a radiofrequency electrode. Preferably, the non-conductive layer is a sleeve which is axially movable on the electrical conductor to expose a selected portion of the electrical conductor surface in the target tissue. The stylet can also be a microwave antenna. The stylet can also be a hollow tube for delivering treatment fluid to the target tissue.

    Abstract: An inline process valve assembly having a valve body of a rigid material having a thru bore which is circular in cross-section forming a flow passage extending through the valve body along a longitudinal axis and having a lower arcuate surface. A cone-shaped recess is formed in the body and has a central vertical axis extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The cone-shaped recess opens into the flow passage and has an hemispherical rounded nose which is generally coincident with the lower arcuate surface of the flow passage. A cone-shaped diaphragm of a flexible material disposed in said cone-shaped recess and is movable between open and closed positions with respect to the flow passage. The diaphragm has an outer margin. A clamp is provided for clamping the outer margin of the diaphragm to the valve body to form a liquid-tight and air-tight seal between the diaphragm and the body. An operator is secured to the diaphragm for moving the diaphragm between said open and closed positions.

    Abstract: Simultaneous slicing and washing of relatively firm raw vegetable or fruit products is accomplished in a vat of water into which a slicer apparatus is positioned such that the slices are formed and discharge directly into the water. An inclined takeout conveyor serves to receive the slices and remove them from the water. A circulating water current and fluid jets urge the slices to disperse onto the conveyor. A spray of water or air blast removes residual vegetable matter from the slice surfaces before leaving the takeout conveyor for further processing. Slicing and washing a vegetable in a flume volute where the slices are dispersed onto a takeout conveyor is disclosed where the water medium is collected in a tub and recycled back to flow in the flume to a level that covers the slicer's operative parts. The apparatus may be used for simultaneous slicing and cooking of raw vegetables where hot cooking oil is maintained in the system and recycled for reheating.

In addition to the controller, the continuous oven cooking system includes a oven. The controller controls the oven in performing the process according to scheduled parameters. When a deviation in the specific scheduled parameter occurs, the controller identifies those of the food items that in response will have (a) an accumulated lethality predicted to be delivered to them during the continuous oven cooking process that is less than a target lethality, or (b) have a core temperature at the end of the continuous oven cooking process that is less than a target core temperature.

    Abstract: An inflatable, conformable, cushioning, packaging product comprises a plurality of individual inflatable strips of multiple bubble cushioning structures. Each individual inflatable strip has a plurality of bubble chambers with each bubble chamber interconnected to an adjacent bubble chamber by an interconnecting passageway which is smaller in size and internal volume than the bubble chambers, but which is sufficiently large to enable air volume and pressure in one inflated bubble chamber to be transmitted to adjacent bubble chambers for distributing a shock load on one bubble chamber along the entire length of the individual inflatable strip of interconnected bubble chambers. Each individual inflatable strip is defined between two laterally extending spaced apart peripheral seal line which have an undulating configuration free of corner shapes which could concentration stresses.

    Abstract: The present invention provides biosensors, apparatus and methods for selectively detecting at least one complementary oligonucleotide target specie in a fluid sample containing a mixture of different oligonucleotide fragments. One preferred embodiment of the biosensor is as a unitary fiber optic array having an in-situ hybridization zone comprising not less than one specie of single stranded oligonucleotide disposed as individual deposits in aligned organization upon multiple strand end faces at differing spatial positions on the distal array end surface. In this manner, a collective of deployed, single specie, multiple fixed probes are presented for selective in-situ hybridization on-demand with at least one mobile complementary target specie ultimately bearing a joined identifying label. The biosensor provides for optical detection of in-situ hybridization on the distal end surface via the presence of the concomitantly disposed joined identifying label at the differing spatial positions.
