Abstract: A mobile communication system and a mobile station service method in the mobile communication system is disclosed, and enables mobile terminals of a second generation (IS-95, IS-95B) and a third generation (IS-2000) to be operated using a CDMA Channel List and an Extended CDMA Channel List. The method preferably includes checking whether a frequency on service presently exists on a CDMA Channel List and an Extended CDMA Channel List when a service frequency of a base station is changed, copying the frequency allocated to the Extended CDMA Channel List to the CDMA Channel List if the frequency on service fails to exist on the CDMA Channel List, copying the frequency allocated to the CDMA Channel List to the Extended CDMA Channel List if the frequency on service fails to exist on the Extended CDMA Channel List, and transmitting the CDMA and Extended CDMA Channel Lists to which the frequency is copied to a terminal.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a method and an apparatus for controlling a display mode in a portable computer. When a display mode of a liquid crystal display (LCD) is changed such as in response to a user's request, information of the changed display mode is stored being associated with a system mode. When a system is rebooted or the system mode is changed in a state in which the display mode information is stored, display mode information stored being associated with a current system mode is read, and the LCD display mode is set to an arbitrary display mode corresponding to the read display mode information. And, when a change of the LCD display mode is requested by the user, a wallpaper image for the requested display mode can be retrieved from among wallpaper images for display modes stored separately and displayed on the LCD.
Abstract: An apparatus and method controls power supplied from a powered HUB to a user terminal includes based on a vibration signal transmitted from the terminal. Initially, a connection between the HUB and terminal is determined to exist if at least one vibration signal is received from the terminal. Then, a determination is made as to when the signal is received. If received during a first check period, power is supplied from the HUB to the terminal. If received during a second check period, power continues to be supplied to the terminal. Power is cut-off when a number of vibration signals or vibration-signal events does not equal a predetermined number and the second check period transitions into the first check period. By taking these steps, the need to use specialized modules and communications protocols is eliminated, thereby reducing costs and system complexity.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for allowing a mobile device with a dead battery to be charged by another mobile device with a charged battery. The apparatus and method further provide for the prevention of damage to the batteries due to overcurrents that may occur due to battery voltage differences. Light emitting diodes are also provided to indicate the state of the charging device.
Abstract: A system and method for performing forward channel scheduling for an HDR system includes collecting status information of connected terminals, calculating a predetermined weight (?(n)), calculating priority values of respective terminals based on the collected status information and the weight (?(n)), and selecting a terminal having the highest priority value and providing the selected terminal with the service. By considering the number of connected mobile terminals, disadvantages of other proposed scheduling algorithms are overcome. Also, the entire throughput of the HDR system is improved by maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) of the mobile terminals that require the real-time service.
Abstract: A system and method for detecting defects in TFT-array panels is provided that improves defect detection accuracy by adjusting the thresholding parameters used to classify defective pixels in accordance with the standard deviation of the measured pixel voltages. The present invention is particularly suited for the testing of TFT-array panels that contain more pixels than can be measured by the sensor of the TFT-array tester in a single measurement. The system and method of the present invention calculates the standard deviation of the measured pixel voltages at each measurement point, and adjusts the thresholding parameters based on the calculated standard deviation. Accordingly, the system and method of the present invention helps to compensate for differences in the measured pixel voltages between measurement points due to environmental factors or other causes.
Abstract: A dynamic bus architecture is provided. This may include an encoding circuit coupled to a bus line and a decoder circuit coupled to the bus line. The encoder circuit may receive an input signal and generate an encoded signal on the bus line. The decoder circuit may receive the encoded signal from the bus line and generate the original unencoded signal. The encoder circuit may include a first flip-flop circuit to store a previous input signal from the bus line based on a clocking signal from the bus line. Additionally, the decoder circuit may include a second flip-flop circuit having a clock input to receive the encoded signal from the bus line as a clocking input.

Abstract: A method for controlling channel tuning of a digital TV is disclosed, in which a desired channel can easily be tuned in accordance with a user's input in a digital TV having a channel number of a major-minor type. The method for controlling channel tuning of a digital TV includes the steps of tuning a corresponding channel referring to a corresponding channel data depending on whether channel a data of a major number input by a user exists in a previously stored channel map if the user inputs a major number only, controlling an analog channel if the user inputs a major number or a minor number of 0, and controlling tuning of a corresponding channel depending on whether a channel data of the minor number input by the user exists in the previously stored channel map if the user inputs the major number and the minor number not 0. Since the user can recognize the minor channel data of the desired major channel, it is possible to prevent any confusion in selecting a plurality of minor channels from occurring.
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable terminal, which can include a main body portion, a display portion provided with a display screen and coupled to an end portion of the main body portion to be folded or unfolded with respect to the main body portion. Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for monitoring an antenna state of a mobile station. A resister may be provided between a battery voltage terminal and a power source voltage terminal of a power amplifier. A voltage level corresponding to a dropped amount of a voltage due to the resister may be generated and compared with a previously stored voltage level to determine whether current consumption of the power amplifier has been increased. If the increased amount of the current consumption of the power amplifier is large, the currently connected antenna may be determined to be in an abnormal state and a transmission path may be switched to another antenna. If two antennas provided in the mobile communication are in an electrically abnormal state, a baseband chip may inform a user of the abnormal state of the antenna. Accordingly, an output level degradation generated when the antenna is operated in an electrically abnormal state and shortening of the life span of a battery can be prevented.
Abstract: A triple band receiving terminal of a mobile communication system operates in three bands by installing an impedance matching unit and a band selection switching unit at the exterior of a dual band RF receiver. The triple band receiving terminal includes three filters for passing signals corresponding to three different bands, an impedance matching unit for matching impedance of signals passing the second and the third filters, and a RF (radio frequency) receiver for processing a signal inputted from the first filter and the switching unit as an intermediate frequency.
Abstract: Disclosed is a sharpness improvement apparatus of an image signal which improves a sharpness of an analogue image signal so as to display a clear image. A display device which displays an inputted image signal on a screen can display a clear image with a digital sharpness improvement apparatus which realizes a sharpness of the image signal into a digital method by improving a degradation phenomenon of a signal generated at an analogue image processing into a simple digital circuit.
Abstract: A power supply for power factor correction and a driving method thereof wherein a ripple current of a power factor correction circuit (PFC) can be reduced to enhance a power factor and an efficiency. In the power supply, a power factor correction circuit corrects a power factor of a AC voltage supplied from an AC voltage source using a switching device to convert it to a DC voltage. A DC to DC converter converts said DC voltage from the power factor correction circuit into a desired DC voltage. A controller controls the switching device in accordance with an input voltage inputted to the power factor correction circuit to vary an output voltage of the power factor correction circuit.
Abstract: A mobile terminal in a mobile communications system stores received data with less hardware and more power-efficient power requirements compared with conventional terminals. These advantages are achieved by using a single memory to store data decoded by a plurality of decoder units. More specifically, the terminal performs the steps of selecting one of two decoders for decoding data, decoding data in the selected decoder, determining an address of a common memory connected to the two decoders based on information in the decoded data; and storing the decoded data in the address of the common memory. The first decoder may be a viterbi decoder and the second decoder may be a turbo decoder. The common memory addresses may be determined based on the values of predetermined bits of decoded data output from the decoders. By using a common memory for this purpose, the terminal is able to realize a smaller size than could previously be attained.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an obturator for a refrigerator for cutting off heat or cool air transferred to and from a refrigerator. The present invention is comprised of a door gasket having an air bag that is transformed and rotated freely, and a projecting portion that is projected from at least one of the inner case and the refrigerator door liner, so that inflow of heat from outside or from a hot-line, into an inside of the refrigerator and leakage of the inside cool air of the refrigerator to the outside, are cut off or minimized and insulation performance is improved remarkably.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for re-transmitting erroneous packet data is disclosed. Each of the physical layers of the system includes a buffer, a timer, a controller, and a radio frequency unit. The buffer temporarily stores transmitted data in the form of a final data frame capable of being transmitted on a transmission line without any processing. The timer is a time counter adapted to limit the time, for which the transmission end waits for an acknowledgment to a transmission of data after the data transmission is made. If no acknowledgment signal is received when the timer expires the buffered data in the physical layer is re-transmitted. This reduces the data transmission delay resulting from the inter-layer movement of data generated during a re-transmission of erroneous data, and the transmission delay of packet data resulting from overhead time.
