Abstract: The Weblogic Tuxedo Connector is used to provide interoperability between Tuxedo and applications such as Weblogic Server. In one embodiment, WTC may implement operations such as list, start, or stop WTC Tuxedo session connections. In WTC, the configuration is set up so that multiple WTC-Tuxedo connections are defined as part of a WTCServerMBean. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a feature for providing WTC with the ability to individually perform actions to connections, such as start or stop a WTC-Tuxedo connection, without affecting other connections defined in the MBean.

Abstract: Surgical instruments and techniques are provided for creating a pneumostoma through the chest wall into the lung of a patient. The pneumostomy instruments and techniques may be used to create a pneumostoma which allows gases to escape from the lung through the chest wall and thereby treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Abstract: A community accessible via a portal can be provided for maintaining user membership in a collaborative computing environment. Collaboration resources can be displayed on the portal page. Drag and drop functionality can be provided, which enables a community member to drag drop some resource into a target area, thereby causing a computer to execute an action upon the drop. A drag and drop tag library can be provided for allowing a developer to add this functionality to selected resources. For example, a draggable resource tag can be used by the developer to specify the resource displayed on the portal page, that is to be selected and dragged by a user. A resource drop zone tag can specify a particular area on the portal page into which the draggable resource will be dropped. The action can be a Javascript function call, a form or a page flow action initiated upon the drop.

Abstract: A system and method of designing the physical shape of and determining the electromagnetic characteristics of a bondwire in an electrical circuit, comprising the steps of enabling a user to define the position of the bondwire in the electrical circuit layout, defining the position and loop shape of the bondwire in a 3D representation of the electrical circuit, segmenting the bondwire into discrete segments, determining the electromagnetic characteristics of each of the bondwire segments thereby to determine the overall electromagnetic characteristics of the bondwire.

Abstract: A system and method for providing hardware virtualization and resource management in a virtual machine environment. In accordance with an embodiment, an application server environment includes a computer system, application server, and virtual machine (for example, a Java Virtual Machine or JVM). In accordance with an embodiment, a virtualization layer is provided at each physical machine, including a hypervisor for partitioning virtual machines over the machine. An execution layer runs a single Java-based application, focusing on running that application as efficiently as possible. In accordance with another embodiment, the system comprises two main components: a lower-level, execution environment that replaces the usual operating system; and a higher-level, resource broker that is responsible for handing out new virtual machines to the above layers, and for monitoring the current resource usage of the running virtual machines.

Abstract: Systems and methods for “shadowing” a target codec to provide additional features that are not available in the target codec. In one embodiment, an audio amplification system includes a High Definition Audio (HDA) bus, and an HDA controller, a conventional HDA codec and a shadow HDA codec coupled to the HDA bus. The conventional codec receives audio data and commands from the HDA controller via the bus and processes them to generate an output audio signal. The shadow codec snoops the audio data and commands on the HDA bus that are targeted to the conventional codec. The shadow codec processes the snooped audio data and commands to generate a second audio output. The shadow codec does not communicate with the HDA controller and is transparent to the controller. The shadow codec does not request enumeration from the HDA controller and does not receive an address from the HDA controller.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are provided to efficiently identify, from among a plurality of possible neurostimulation parameter sets, one or more preferred neurostimulation parameter sets that treat a targeted pain of a patient. Each neurostimulation parameter set defines electrode parameters and neurostimulation signal parameters. A plurality of different neurostimulation parameter sets are tested on the patient to thereby identify those tested neurostimulation parameter sets that treat the targeted pain. Each of the tested neurostimulation parameter sets defines an electrode configuration that differs from the other tested neurostimulation parameter sets. All of the tested neurostimulation parameter sets comprise a same value for a specific neurostimulation signal parameter (e.g., pulse width) that if reduced reduces power consumption.

Abstract: A method for communication in a communication system includes predefining a plurality of service delivery modes having different signaling and media path configurations in circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. A request to place a call is accepted in the circuit-switched network, and a call service to be provided to the call by a service platform in the packet-switched network is identified responsively to the request. A service delivery mode is selected from the plurality responsively to an attribute of the call indicated by the request. Signaling and media paths are established for the call via the circuit-switched and packet-switched networks in accordance with the signaling and media path configurations of the selected service delivery mode. The call service is provided from the service platform to the call using the established signaling and media paths.

Abstract: A system and method for adaptive analog infrared subtraction during ambient light sensing is provided. The system employs a current mirror circuit to perform an analog subtraction of currents (IIR and IIR+AB) obtained from photodiodes. An ADC is employed to digitize the output signal from the current mirror and, the digitized signal is amplitude modulated at a chop frequency utilized by the current mirror. Further, a digital filer is employed to generate an adjustment signal by filtering the modulated signal and the gain of the current mirror is calibrated by employing the adjustment signal. Moreover, as the adjustment signal converges to a value indicative of the mismatch error of the current mirror, the output signal of the current mirror provides an accurate value of ambient light incident on the photodiode.

Abstract: A service access gateway is described that provides enforcement of service level agreements across geographically remote domains. Each domain can comprise an access tier and a network tier that can be scaled by adding or removing server nodes. At the network tier level, a master node can be selected in each domain in order to maintain budget state information for the domain. Additionally, a global master can be elected in order to maintain the state information across multiple domains such that the service level agreements can be enforced in a synchronized manner. A geographical configuration service can also be implemented to generate alarms in cases where service level agreements across the multiple sites are not identical.

Abstract: A system and method is provided to facilitate secure communications for a server-application executing on a resource-constrained device. A request, from a client application executing on a client device to access a server application executing on the resource-constrained device is received on an application-specific secure port of a resource-constrained device. The request is authenticated using a security token stored in an application context of the server application. The authentication is performed by a transport security layer protocol executing within the application context of the server application. The security token is specific for the server application. A secure connection is established directly between the secure port and the client application upon the authentication being successful.

Abstract: Provided herein are embodiments of a weighted eyelid closure device for use in treating lagophthalmos. In accordance with an embodiment, the device can be implanted by an oculoplastic surgeon into a patient's eyelid, to treat lagophthalmos. The device's weight can then be adjusted later by the surgeon, if necessary, without requiring removal of the entire device. For example, if it is discovered that an implanted device is too heavy or too light after it has been implanted within the patient's eyelid, the load of the device can be adjusted by modifying the previous load. Alternatively, a new load having the desired weight can be implanted.

Abstract: A system and method for efficient string concatenation in a virtual machine (VM), or other runtime environment, and particularly for use in a system that includes a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). An embodiment improves the performance of string concatenation significantly by analysing the string concatenation chains during bytecode compilation and replacing the dynamic string concatenation code with fixed size structures without bounds checks or locks. The resulting code is also more suitable for inlining.

Abstract: A fire-resistant glass block including a thermal break and methods for making same. Embodiments of the glass block assembly include at least two portions filled with fire-resistant gel, wherein the at least two portions are connected using a thermal break channel. The thermal break channel improves the thermal conductions characteristics of the assembly and mitigates the potential for breakage in either glass block half unit through direct heat transfer. The glass block assembly can be made by connecting two or more glass portions using a thermal break channel and filling the connected glass block portions with fire-resistant gel.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an interface for an electronic or computing device. In one embodiment, the invention includes a keyboard positioned adjacent to the posterior side of the computing device in such a way that the user can operate the device in an easy and convenient manner, while at the same time maximizing the amount of available display space to the user viewing the anterior side of the device. In this embodiment the user operates the keyboard while it is hidden from view behind the display. The invention also provides several mechanisms that allow the user to become familiar with this approach to operating the device, some of which are applicable to the improvement of standard keyboards for many common purposes and uses. These mechanisms include, but are not limited to, appropriately spaced keys, chorded keyboards, tactile feedback mechanisms, and key indication, selection and verification methods.

In one embodiment, server services are represented as nodes in a graph data structure. Connections between the nodes indicate dependencies between the server services. The graph is sorted to create an ordered list of services which can be used to startup the services. In another embodiment a server services manager reads license files and user inputs and marks the ordered list of services to indicate which services are to startup.

Abstract: A system and method can deploy and manage software services in virtualized and non-virtualized environments. The system provides a data consumer that manages a plurality of data collectors, wherein each data collector resides on one of the plurality of virtualized and non-virtualized machines in the computing environment and extracts performance data from a set of Virtual Machines running on a specific compute resource using an operating contract. The operating contract includes one or more metric descriptors, wherein each metric descriptor specifies one or more resources associated with the set of Virtual Machines. In addition, a push manager allows the data consumer to register performance data items that need to be handled, wherein the push manager calls the data consumer to process the performance data items at each time the periodic interval elapse.

The mixing device comprises a mixing chamber and a rotor which, during rotation about the axis of rotation, defines a surface of revolution extending along the circumference of the rotor. The rotor is arranged in the mixing chamber. The mixing chamber comprises a peripheral wall zone having a substantially circular cross section. The peripheral wall zone surrounds the surface of revolution. An outlet duct for discharging the mixture formed is connected to the mixing chamber. The inlet of the outlet duct is provided at the rotor. At least one rotor rib is provided at the peripheral wall zone. This rotor rib extends from the peripheral wall zone in the direction of the surface of revolution of the rotor.
