Abstract: A light guide includes a light interface surface, top and bottom surfaces, a surface feature pattern, and a cut line. The light interface surface receives light into the light guide from a light source. The light received through the light interface surface reflects according to total internal reflection (TIR) within the light guide between portions of the top and bottom surfaces. The surface feature pattern disrupts the TIR and scatters at least some of the light outside of at least one surface of the top and bottom surfaces. The cut line redirects at least some of the light from a first direction to a second direction within the light guide. The first direction is a direction other than towards the surface feature pattern, while the second direction is a direction substantially towards the surface feature pattern. The light guide may back-illuminate an optical keypad with a plurality of push buttons.

Abstract: A method is provided for tamper detection of a transmitted signal. The method is comprised of generating a first digital data signal having a first data rate. The method is also comprised of generating a second digital data signal having a second data rate. The method is further comprised of concurrently transmitting the first digital data signal at a first carrier frequency using a first modulation format and the second digital data signal at a second carrier frequency using a second modulation format. The method includes selecting the second carrier frequency and a bandwidth of the second digital data signal so that the second digital data signal is contained within a frequency spectrum defined by a bandwidth of the first digital data signal. The method also includes verifying an integrity of the first digital data signal at a remote receiver based on defection at the remote receiver of the second digital data signal. A system (100) is also provided for generating a tamper-protected transmitted signal.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for detecting interference with a remote visual interface, such as a HTML webpage, at a client computer, particularly to determine if a malicious attack such as at HTML attack has occurred. When the web server receives a request for a page, a script is embedded in the page, and as a consequence the client computer requests at least one session key and at least one one time password from an enterprise server. The client computer also performs a check of the HTML interface present on the client computer, which an attack of this type would change. The result of the interface check, encrypted with the session key and one time password, is sent to the enterprise server, so that a comparison with the expected value for the website can be performed.
Abstract: A method and system is described for determining the distance between first and second images using an enhanced P-Edit distance metric which accounts for differences in the rotation or pose of objects identified in the images.
Abstract: A multi-segmented light guide for keypad and display apparatus has been disclosed. The light guide film may comprise a plurality of light segments configured to transmit light independently. The boundaries of the light segments may be defined by a plurality of micro-optic structures. The micro-optic structures may have a height at least half the thickness of the light guide.

Abstract: The invention is an efficient matrix converter for wind energy conversion systems (WECS) using permanent magnet DC generators, incorporating control algorithms integrated with rotor aerodynamics, generator dynamics and the wind environment. Using a complete model of the system enables the design of an integrated control scheme for the WECS that improves the overall system efficiency. Estimates of wind velocity and rotor speed measurements are fed forward to the matrix converter subsystem for efficient switching.
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of evaluating an impact on inventory levels of migrating from a pre-processing environment to a dynamic processing environment may include identifying a plurality of form types to migrate from a pre-processing environment to a dynamic processing environment and identifying an inventory policy. For each identified form type, corresponding job demand information may be received. A computing device may determine a plurality of total inventory requirements for the identified form types based on the identified inventory policy. The computing device may determine a plurality of migrated inventory requirements for the dynamic processing environment based on the identified inventory policy. One or more statistics pertaining to one or more of the job demand information, the total inventory requirements and the migrated inventory requirements may be displayed to a user.
Abstract: Semiconductor devices (100) and methods of making the same. Each of the semiconductor devices includes a substrate (102) having a first surface (118) and an opposing second surface. A vertical capacitive element (104) is disposed on the first surface of the substrate. The vertical capacitive element comprises a plurality of parallel conductive plates (120b, 120d, 120f, 120h, 120j, 120l, 120n) extending transverse to the first surface of the substrate. Adjacent conductive plates are spaced a distance D from each other. A dielectric material (104) can be disposed in a space separating the adjacent conductive plates. Each of the conductive plates has a height-to-width (h/w) ratio greater than or equal to one.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for performing forecasting with respect to total demand data (including two or more demand components) collected in a print production environment. Each demand component (comprising a set of demand component related points corresponding with a first time scale) may be processed in such a way that a demand component related point can be forecasted with demand component related points corresponded with the second time scale. Both the forecasted demand component related point and demand component related points corresponded with the second time scale can then be corresponded with the first time scale.
