  • Patent number: 4364274
Abstract: Method and apparatus for ultrasonic non-destructive testing by the pulse echo method. The pulses received from flaws in a test object are supplied to a main branch circuit for amplification to produce a suitable flaw display and to a back echo branch circuit having a lower amplification such that the back echo signal does not saturate the amplifier. During a "flaw gate" period, the output from the main branch circuit is supplied through a high speed electronic switch to a display. At the conclusion of the flaw gate period, the switch is actuated to supply the back echo branch circuit output to the display. In this manner, the back echo signal may be monitored for additional flaw information.

  • Patent number: 4362348
Abstract: The invention is directed to a multi-contact electrical connector, especially a flat pack connector. The housings for plug and receptacle are X-ray absorbent metal to substantially decrease X-ray penetration. The receptacle face has perforations in the housing metal of dimensions to function as an EMI Grid to shield against RFI entry through the wave guide perforations. Also the perforations are long enough to substantially shield the sockets from X-rays striking the perforations at an angle. The plug and receptacle are locked in mated relation by collet fingertips which close to a ball shape for entry and exit from a receptacle recess, and open wide to a diameter larger than the entry/exit opening in the recess to lock the plug and receptacle in the mated position. A spring loaded plunger rod maintains the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4355294
Abstract: A system for providing a digital display of aircraft altitude, a selected altitude which it is desired the aircraft to assume and when the selected altitude is achieved, an audio and visual indication is produced. When within 1000 feet of the selected altitude, the visual indication gives the direction the aircraft must continue (i.e., up or down). When the aircraft exceeds a prescribed range, either above or below the selected altitude, an audio signal is produced. Barometric pressure obtained from air traffic control may be entered into the system and the measured altitude displayed will be automatically corrected.

  • Patent number: 4338495
Abstract: Each of the station sets in the system generates a continuous, current-modulated digital data stream carrying information concerning the status of pushbutton-actuated switches associated with a particular service or feature. This data stream is transmitted via a phantom pair over standard four-wire cable to an associated station card in the key service unit, which receives and decodes the data, implements any service requested at the associated station set by closure of a pushbutton-actuated switch in the station set, and generates a continuous voltage-modulated digital data stream carrying instructions for the connection of the station set speakerphone to either the first or second talk path formed by the first and second conductor pairs in the standard four-wire cable, for energization of light-emitting diodes associated with the pushbutton-actuated switches in the station set, and for controlling background music transmission to the associated station set.

  • Patent number: 4330166
Abstract: This invention is directed to an electrical connector having substantial shielding effectiveness against EMI energy and especially against EMP energy. The invention improves on known EMI shielded connectors by adding a conductive spring washer, such as a wave washer made from beryllium copper alloy. The spring washer is seated in the plug portion of the connector so as to make electrical contact with the receptacle portion when the plug and the receptacle are mated.

  • Patent number: 4302266
Abstract: A high pressure hose construction and method of and apparatus for making the same is disclosed wherein the hose construction has a smooth walled inner liner of resilient polymeric material, and an adhesive layer, which may also be of polymeric material bonded to the liner. A braided cover is disposed over the entire layer and embedded therein. This braided cover is comprised of a plurality of elongated intermeshing strands of non-metallic fibers, such as yarn, and metallic fibers. Preferably, every three strands are of flexible, non-metallic fibers, such as nylon fibers, and every fourth strand is of metallic fiber, such as piano wire or spring steel. One set of strands crosses over and under another set to produce an intermeshing or weaving effect. These strands may also extend in a direction at an angle, such as 45.degree. or 53.degree.
