  • Patent number: 5842077
Abstract: A device for the automatic removal of a photographic film from a cartridge in which the film has been wound onto a spool. A guide opening for the cartridge has a cross-section which allows the receiving of the cartridge in only one orientation is provided so that the cartridge moves through the opening in the direction of its spool axis by its own weight. A system for simultaneously linearly displacing and rotating the axis of the spool is provided, to rotate the spool axis from vertical to horizontal and to reposition the cartridge for unwinding the film from the spool. The system holds the cartridge in a spool receptacle, and repositions and rotates the cartridge with a single actuator.

  • Patent number: 5812220
Abstract: A television (TV) transmission system is adapted to receive a plurality of TV signals and to transmit these TV signals at a plurality of channel frequencies using multi-bay antenna. The system includes a plurality of exciters, each exciter receiving a one of the TV signals and operative to combine the TV signal with a carrier signal at a respective one of the channel frequencies to produce a transmittable signal. Each exciter is coupled to a signal splitter which produces a plurality of split signals from the transmittable signal. A separate power amplifier is coupled to receive each split signal and passes an amplified signal to a power combiner which produces a single combined output signal. A plurality of such power combiners pass their respective output signals to a plurality of antenna elements arranged to radiate as a group.

  • Patent number: 5781819
Abstract: A device for feeding film cartridges into a processing and/or handling apparatus, having a first feed channel so laid out that the cartridge moves by its own weight in the direction of its longitudinal axis through the channel. The cartridges lie one behind another in the direction of their longitudinal axis. To separate them, an apparatus is provided that holds one cartridge secure by frictional engagement, while the lower cartridge beneath moves down to a second feed channel. Cartridges which enter the second channel are displaced, one by one, along this channel and supplied at a feed point to the film processing and/or handling apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5767947
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the production of individual prints and index prints from films which contain recorded data regarding the circumstances surrounding the exposure of the individual pictures stored on the film. Recorded data on the film is read, the data being associated with an individual picture and concerning a desired print format for the individual picture. The recorded data is preferably stored magnetically, but may also be stored optically. The system produces an individual print of the individual picture having a format based on the read data. The system also identifies, by modification of an image of the individual picture formed on the index print, the region of the film printed on the individual print and of the regions not printed, based on the read data.

  • Patent number: 5751074
Abstract: An electrical switch sensitive to an externally applied inertial and gravitational force, having an enclosure with a closed space; a conductive fluid filing a first portion of the space and a non-conductive medium filling a second portion of the space, the conductive fluid and the non-conductive medium having differing densities; at least two electrodes in communication with the space; an electrical circuit coupled the contacts and having electrical connections for connection with a power source and a load, having a semiconductor switching device, which is responsive to a current through the contacts, a current through the contacts causing the semiconductor switching device to change in conductivity. An externally applied force, e.g., gravity or inertial force, causes the conductive fluid to move within the enclosure with respect to the contacts, altering a current through the contacts, and thereby changing a conducting state of the semiconductor switching device.

  • Patent number: 5739479
Abstract: An acoustic wave touch sensor comprising an acoustic wave transducer, for transducing an acoustic wave; a substrate, having a front surface. A surface bound acoustic wave interface, having at one least bevel edge, is provided, having an transmitted acoustic wave signal attenuation of less than about 3 dB. The acoustic wave transducer is mounted to transmit the acoustic wave through the interface into the substrate, so that the energy of the acoustic wave appears at the surface. The acoustic wave transducer is mounted on a beveled region of the substrate, inclined to the front surface. The beveled edge has an effective radius which is small as compared to the wavelength and a bevel angle such that the acoustic wave is attenuated by less than about 3 dB on transmission across the edge. In this manner, means are provided to recess transducers for improved product robustness and compactness of design.

  • Patent number: 5721486
Abstract: The device proposed comprises a Hall sensor (101) with an associated magnet (102), a pulse-generation wheel (104) rotating at an angular speed w and fitted with teeth having a rising and falling face, the wheel turning in front of the sensor to generate a curve which corresponds exactly to the tooth-face positions and which can be used to determine precisely the position of the rotating shaft. The Hall sensor 9101) registers the variation with time of the magnetic flux density through the pulse-generation wheel (104) as a Hall voltage signal. This signal is converted by a differentiator circuit (103.2) into a differentiated signal. The maxima and minima of the differentiated signal are determined and a digital output signal (AS) is generated form the differentiated signal, the low-level to high-level transitions in the output signal corresponding to the maxima of the differentiated signal and the high-level to low-level transitions corresponding to the minima.

  • Patent number: 5708905
Abstract: A device for automatic removal of a photographic film from a cartridge, in which the film is rolled up on a spool. The feed channel for the cartridge is disposed so that the cartridge moves through the channel by its own weight in the direction of its spool axis. The channel has a cross section that permits admission of the cartridge in only one direction. The device includes a mechanism to turn the cartridge into a position in which the spool axis is aligned horizontally. The devices also includes a mechanism for unwinding and separating the film from the spool in a light-impervious housing. A mechanism turns the empty cartridge so that its spool axis is vertical, with a prescribed orientation. A replaceable magazine sequentially collects and orders a plurality of empty cartridges.

  • Patent number: 5704110
Abstract: A device for crimping a plastically deforming metal pole shoe (1) around the end (2) of a cable that has been inserted into it. The device comprises an anvil (3), a die (4), a sensor (5), and a comparator (6). The shoe is placed on the anvil and the die is advanced toward it, deforming the shoe. The sensor emits a signal once the shoe has been deformed to the maximum, and the comparator compares the signal with a reference and emits either an "accept" signal or a "reject" signal. The "reject" signal emitted by the comparator actuates a cable-end trimmer that cuts part-way or all the way through the cable. Consequently, the device will always either acceptably crimp pole shoes to the ends of cables or reliably indicate defective connections.
