The invention is characterized in that it comprises a part (20) intended to be arranged at the end of a handle, referred to below as a holding part, that the holding part (20) comprises a part (22) intended to be gripped on use, referred to below as the gripping pant, that said holding part is provided with organs (10, 20) capable of allowing turning of the gripping part (22) around an axis of rotation (V) in relation to the handle when device is affixed to the handle end, the axis of rotation (V) coinciding in the main with the longitudinal direction (L) of the handle, and that the gripping part is provided with organs (34, 36) capable of increasing the friction between the holding pant and the hand or a surface which the handle end is placed against.

Abstract: A method and system for batch loading a stored value application of a microprocessor based stored value card includes a stored value card reader/writer connected to a local computer device and a batch-load application running on the same computer device which securely stores load key information and emulates the remote functions of an on-line load transaction. The computer also has a security module for storing load key information and an encryption device. Communication is initiated on the card reader at the local computer device between the stored value application and the batch-load application, and an off-line batch-load transaction is performed in which the load key information is validated and a funding source is also validated. An authorizing message is sent by the batch-load application to the stored value application with data representing a pre-selected monetary value.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling the transmission of information known as “cookies” stored on electronic media to Internet websites accessed by PC users utilizes a “cookie jar” in a server-based virtual wallet for the user. When a website server sends a “cookie” to the user's PC, the virtual wallet stores the cookie only after requesting and receiving the user's permission. When the user accesses the website server again, and the server requests return of the cookie, the virtual wallet sends the cookie only after requesting and receiving the user's permission. Alternatively, the user can preconfigure the virtual wallet with predefined parameters for withholding or sending the cookie when requested by the website server.

Abstract: A method and system of user interface for a full function computer centered, for example, in a user's living room automatically displays a screen for a control center application folder, for a plurality of bundled applications, from which the user selects an application, such as a home banking application. The system automatically displays a function selection screen for the selected application, from which the user selects an application function, and the system automatically implements the selected function.

Abstract: A system for providing heat conduction for a structure, comprising: a storm water management system located below a frost line and located near the structure, wherein a predetermined level of liquid is maintained within the storm water management system; a first heat exchanger located within the storm water management system, the first heat exchanger located such that the first heat exchanger is continuously immersed within the liquid maintained within the storm water management system; a connecting line connected to the first heat exchanger; and a second heat exchanger connected to the connecting line, wherein the second heat exchanger is associated with the structure and directly transfers heat with the structure; wherein the second heat exchanger transfers heat with the first heat exchanger via the connecting line.

Abstract: For providing a chain lever hoist that can ensure a stable free rotation operation over a long term with a simple design, improvement is made in the chain lever hoist wherein an engaging pawl is switched to a neutral position, at which the engaging pawl is not allowed to engage with engaging teeth in the forward direction or a reverse direction, by the operation of a selector lever and then a load chain on the non-loaded side is pulled or an operating handle is rotated in the reverse direction to thereby produce the free rotation state just the way it is, the improvement being such that the operating lever is rotatably supported on a brake cover at its opening with a predetermined spaced interval from a first hub. By virtue of this, the first hub is allowed to rotate together with the drive shaft, without contacting with the operating lever, during the free rotation operation, and as such can attain reliable free rotation operation.

Abstract: A sling capable to easily raise a hanging load such as a drum with a simplified structure. In a chain sling (or a wire sling) in which a master link and hooks are connected with each other via link chains (or wire ropes), lower portions of the hooks are formed to be bent at an angle smaller than 90° and also a bottom portion of the master link is flattened. With this structure, even when the drum has no ring-like protrusion at which an upper lid is mounted, if holes are formed around the side of the drum, the front ends of the hooks can be reliably hooked in the holes to raise the drum. Also, when a lifting portion of a forklift is brought into contact with the flattened bottom portion of the master link, the drum can be easily slung by the forklift as well.

Abstract: A system for providing specialized contacts for electronic information on a smart card or other device in the pattern of a source identifier, such that a machine may contact and read the information upon placement of the card in the machine. The contact points for reading information on the card are formed by etching a substrate attached to the logic element of the smart card. The etching allows both the foreground and the background of an image, in two selected colors, to be included within the contact area of the smart card, with the foreground constituting the conductor and the background the substrate. Additionally, the present invention provides electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for a semiconductor circuit within the smart card without changing the appearance or method of forming the contact points.

Abstract: An integrated financial system that includes a single customer account that permits a customer to perform various financial transactions. The account includes at least banking components and brokerage components. A consistent user interface is provided to allow a customer to access the account from different sources including at least an automatic teller machine, a phone and a personal teller transaction. The account is flexible enough to include a variety of other components such as a credit card component, a line of credit component, a secured credit component and a money market component. A system and method for opening a single integrated account for a customer in a single session is also described.

Abstract: An automated system and method for presenting both interactive and proactive customized and personalized advice for a customer by a financial institution is based on a sophisticated customer profile generated by the system according to an analysis of the customer from a totality of the customer's interaction with the system. The system includes, for example, an advice engine, which is primarily software, that considers numerous sets of system logic, such as legal constraints and statistical facts that affect the customer, and generates the advice. The system also includes a presentation engine which varies the presentation, depending in part on the mode by which the customer accesses the system, but regardless of the mode, presents the advice to the customer in an individualized manner. Additionally, the system includes a context assessment engine, which examines the context of the interaction between the customer and the system and assesses the effectiveness of the advice.

Abstract: A stand-alone thermostat that mounts flush to a wall and obtains improved accuracy in ambient temperature measurement by actively intaking air from the room interior. An internal temperature measurement chamber communicates between air inlet and outlet. A heat generator located within the temperature measurement chamber causes thermal convection, the convection generating an air flow thus drawing ambient room air into the measurement chamber, across a temperature sensor, and out the outlet air opening. This feature assures that the temperature of room interior air is accurately measured.

Abstract: The invention comprises of a structural algorithm, processes, apparatuses and systems for evaluating, matching and fostering individuals' behavioral capabilities to the requirements for successful human performance in any role and situation. The invention uses a new algorithm to construct a profile of required ability levels underlying the performance of recognized successful individuals in specific situations. Other individuals are then evaluated only in terms of discrepancies between required ability levels and the levels indicated by their performance of indicators of attainment in each of the required dimensions of ability. Required abilities are selected for each comparison in seven linked types of behavior, each with its own method of measurement. As the measurement methods of the invention are used only to construct comparison gauges of a specific requirement and an individual attainment, there is no need for inferring absolute value or generalizable meaning to any ability measurement.
